Dr. Wako, Thank you again for allowing me to vicariously enjoy your outdoor adventures. I find myself smiling as I listen to the stream and birds in the background as you savor the firebox roasted trout and wish that I was there to hang a hammock and enjoy the scene with you. Happy fishing.
Thank you. Of course I have my job for money too. After the job I enjoy home bushcraft with FireBox. When a police car passed by my house, the officer neglected my fire making in the town. FireBox makes fire in a right size.
This was an excellent video. I'm a very keen flyfisherman and this is exactly what I'd like to experience. Go to wilderness, keep flyfishing for the day, get a couple fish to eat, cook them and rice,... coffee... excellent... just great.
Thank you for this video. I'm always looking for videos like this to watch while I'm at work (Don't tell my boss). But if I can't be out in nature, it is wonderful to watch videos like this. It helps me feel peaceful in the stressful office.
Man, you look like you're having fun. In Canada (and other places I'm sure), we'd call that a "shore lunch" and it's the best way to enjoy your catch! I loved seeing the Japanese version. Man, I love that firebox - I must get one! Thanks for the awesome video.
Omg 1:30am and im still watching your videos. Awesome Sir. loved all of them.....thanks for sharing.... Today is 7 months later and watching it again...23:45pm LOL
What a great video thnx so much for sharing I was envious to say the least! You are a true inspiration from across the Sea your videos are awesome please continue to enjoy, video and share with us all thnx so much!
We have big rivers on this island. But my fishing taste is like this. My target trouts are up to 15 inches by fly fishing. The large trouts and salmons which swim up the river from the sea are protected and we cannot catch them in the river. Many anglers fish them from the sea shore in autumn. Thanks.
Yes. Its wood consumption is very small for the power, which saves my energy to gather wood. And I am currently niticing its money saving effect as well compared to gas or petroleum stoves. Thanks.
No. We only cannot make big open fire in our frontyard in a city. If we did so, officers or firefighters would come. I used FireBox to grill fish because it was expected to do it better than regular open fire to control the fire size easily. Thanks.
The last time I visited Japan I went to a restaurant that cooked their fish the same way you do. It looked awesome, but I had Sushi instead. Now seeing you do it creek side makes me want to try it. Maybe I'll give it a go with my kids on our next backpacking trip. Thanks for sharing! Great video.
The water of this river is a bit colored brown. It's because of the cold weather there. Organic matters are not resolved completely. So I don't drink directly from the river. But I don't need to filter before cooking. The river runs exactly in the same mountain where I hunt deer in snow winter. Thanks.
Really enjoy your fishing and hunting videos. The forest, water and woods look so much like were I live, I feel like I have been there. U.S Pacific Northwest, Oregon.
We have a single kind of poisonous snake on this island. But its population gets much less going up north. Down south we have many. This river is up north. Thanks.
The batoning knife is cKc Forrester7 made by a UA-cam knife maker Mr. Kyley Harris aka knivesandstuff from New Zealand. As I use it much, it grows to be my necessity. It is a very nice outdoor knife in reality. Thanks.
That just might have been a bear print in the upper right of the screen at around 8:45 .This is what the bells are for , especially if you are cooking . Great fishing videos .
That looked like a terrific day in the woods. That fish must have been delicious! Do you need to filter your water before cooking with it from that stream? And are these the same woods in which you hunt during the Fall and Winter?
I like 7.5 feet for #4-5 for dry fly. I have 7.0 feet for #3-4 for narrower and steeper streams and 8.0 feet for #4-5 for nymph fly as well. My rods are all 5 piece compact ones for small trouts. I always need to carry it in my rucksack by walk to the river. Rivers around here are like that. Thanks.
I'm headed back to Japan in May and can't wait to eat the fish cooked like that... Won't be able to do any fishing, but I plan to visit some fishing stores. Aloha.
Hi wako san, hope you're fine. You should try the picogrill hobo from switzerland. The smallest version is only round about 100 gramm, but still complete useable. Take a look. Have a nice day.
Wako I am very thankful that I discovered your sight. Your videos are not only instructional and entertaining but therapeutic also

It is banned to fish trouts coming from the sea in the river to keep them. We can fish them from the sea shore in autumn. Thanks.
Great video. I've got a firebox on my list now for sure.
They are very small and their bones can be eaten. If the weather is nice, I want to go fly fishing again. Thanks.

Living like a king.

This is making me hungry for trout.
Great vid!
Awesome video. If you ever come to Atlanta, Georgia (maybe for the blade show), please let me know.
Great video. Just curious, are there snakes you have to watch out for while traveling in the bush ?
I cannot make a small fly like this. But I make a large fly myself for char trout which has a large mouth to eat large insects. Thanks.
I take it the bells are to warn the bears.
Great video, the fish are quite small, do you ever fish the bigger rivers?
Wonderful Video, I love your videos. Wish I could see your country.

Hi Wako, I was looking at Hokaido on google earth its a beautiful place. Do you do most of your hunting/fishing north or south of Sapporo?
Do you use your firebox outdoors like in this video because you are not allowed to have open fires? Thank you for the video.

Hello, Great video! I just had a question. What are the bells on your belt for?
Didn't know that you fly fished. Terrific video. Curious if you have caught the larger sea run trout that you mentioned in the v
