Way underrated! Tyler, I got smoked on a comment page when I suggested that the listing public wasn't able to hear the genius of Terrance Trent Darby and couldn't appreciate him. Listen to that!! MAN O MAN!!!
Someone, in comments on a different channel, described his voice as "a ballerina dancing in gravel". I love this mans' voice, & he's a fantastic songwriter. Still writing & performing his music today; he lives in Milan, Italy with his wife & two sons, just turned 60 this year (2022). Listen to some of his newer material, like Hail Mary, so soothing & stress reducing. This is real music.
People keep forgetting this was the 80s/90s, how was he like prince when prince was bigger, Terrence himself said he hated being compared to prince just becuase he was light skin, if idolized people like Bobby Womack.
Racismo eu acredito.
He walked away from the American music industry because he wasn't given the freedom to be and do what he desired with his music career. Broke away from the contract and set up his own so that he could do as he pleased and desired with his music artistry, and good on him. He may not be as famous out there or globally but he has said time and time again he's the happiness man for walking away from weird Hollywood and not selling his soul to the devil. He changed his name to Seninda M..... who has become one of the most humble human beings on the planet. If he did his soul to the devil: Hollywood I doubt very much he would be the man he is today. One of the greatest voices in the world in my opinion and this song proves that. This concert was 3 hours long and this was his final song of the night. What does that tell you? You simply cannot buy that, not even Hollyweird and thank God for that.
Sign your name by Terrence is one of my all time favorite songs. I discovered this one a couple years ago...his voice is so powerful and vulnerable at the same time. I love this song!!!! Terrance is so,underrated. I hear Sam Cooke, Prince and MJ combined but still unique to Terrance!!
Best performance from one of the most underrated artists of my youth. Terrence was fantastic and beside of a great singer also a special loving religious person
Terence Trent Darby is a bad man !!! One of the most underrated Artist in the 80's & 90's. Vocally he always reminded me of the Late Great Sam Cooke. Since then hes legally changed his name to (Sananda Maitreya), resides in Milan, Italy & still making music til this day !!!! 3
Loved TTD Growing up and always sang sign your name across my Heart so catchy! Love your reactions you should get BP on to This song I’m sure he hasn’t heard of TTD!
Love love love this !! Asked about a year ago to listern to this song.. so glad you finally did !! ❤ i listern to this song EVERY single day.. :) Thankyou 😊
'Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'arby' is easily one of my favorite albums of all time! I remember as a kid playing it over & over, 'Wishing Well' is still my favorite song ever. As soon as I was allowed to, I got my hair braided like him too😆
"Wishing well" has it all over this one. His hit. Exceptional performer. Guitar crazy too. I think you would like "Addicted to Bass" Wo-o-o-o. Australian chick, name forgotten. But an emancipated song.
I challenge any modern day so called artist to do that WITHOUT EARS BUDS like he did. Also check out his other song which I think is even better “let her down easy”
Hey Man , ... LIsten to Jackie Wilson sing " Shes Allright " on Shindig ..... Terrence was Influenced by Jackie so was Beyonce , Whitney Housten , Al Green and Many others, Jackie was the Originator of Using Vocal Gymnastics
You simply must react to his live cover of Jacksons 5 "Who's loving You". One of the greatest covers you will hear and even surpasses this live performance. ua-cam.com/video/nRbjHgx2AbQ/v-deo.html
Try this one ... Who's Lovin' You ..... ua-cam.com/video/nRbjHgx2AbQ/v-deo.html You really need to go way down this rabbit hole! The artist formerly known as Terence Trent D'Arby, his name is now Sananda Maitreya

Sorry dude. Nothing about this is prince like. Everyone says that, but they’re out of their minds. They don’t know music. They said the same thing about he is Michael Jackson. Is it because he’s black? It really drives me nuts. Because that’s wrong. He has the most incredibly fantastic voice ever. Check out Sam Cooke. That’s the dude that influenced him. Check out Al Green. He was pitted against Michael Jackson and prince. Everyone trying to connect him with mimicking them is out of their fucking minds.

I like his more restrained, cool singing - this was just too much. Too much shrieking and emotion. If you gotta say it that loud, that many times - the message isn't that strong.
From a set placement perspective, this appears to have been the final song in this concert. Most artists I've seen live generally close with something dramatic, dynamic and energetic. So to me this performance makes sense for the big finale. Just let loose and give whatever's left in the tank to the crowd before saying goodnight.

He’s tone is phenomenal
Vocally as good as any artist that has come along over the last 35 to 40 years. And was a brilliant lyricist. And he could play multiple instruments.
Yup
This whole concert is a master class in vocals and performing (Wishing Well & Sign Your Name from this concert are also recomended)
Underrated artist
Said George Michael

Please check out more of his performance from that concert--this is just scratching the surface of his amazing live vocals.
His who's loving you performance has to be reacted to... Top 10 ever performances ever for me..
He was huge back in the day....mid 80's if I recall. Sign your name, Rain, Dance little sister, Wishing well are all on my current playlist.
Yes, must do his classics, 'Sign your name' and 'Wishing Well', and more :)

Really lives in Italy ?😍
I've heard this performance so many times. It never gets old. The voice & soul the man has, the grit, perfect performance
I can't recall the number of times I've watched this vid. TTD is one of my favourite artists ever...from my childhood until now 💗💗💗
Such and amazing performance and incredible vocal👍🤚🎶……..
His voice is so unique and I love his music but THIS song was honestly poetry.
Such a talent
What a phenomenal talent. He was US Army living in England. He was a contemporary of Prince.
Golden Gloves winning boxer too

Angelic voice 💖love u Sananda
So emotional voice made me cry
What a winner his debut album was. Boy did I play that cassette to death.
Check out She Kissed Me, where he absolutely rocks out.. Unbelievably underrated how this guy wasn't a global superstar is a mystery.

Btw--he did cover Sam Cook's "A change is gonna come" Definitely worth a listen.
Underrated artist. He should have had a bigger presence and longevity in the US.

Reminds me of Jimmy Barnes
Very talented guy
Love his music.
For me, I can't decide which is my favorite between Wishing well or If you let me stay. Both great songs and great performances.
If you haven't already please react to sign your name across my chest by him it's a great one too..
Makes u pump from inside like prince purple rain
You have to listen “ who’s loving you “ This guy took it and made his .
He still makes music, but changed his name to Sananda Maitreya :)
He has recorded many many albums as Sananda Matraiya. Some of his stuff is very out there, some is pure brilliance ❤
I once saw TTD with INXS, after Michael died. He was phenomonal. He was in line to replace Michael and would have been AMAZING.
Yep, seen it. Must've been difficult for him, as he & Michael Hutchence were friends. The crowd loved him..
9.57 - bang on
I requested him in one of the lives a few weeks ago and you where very impressed with him then.
Review more D'Arby!!
NOW you gtta do sign your name from same concert
💯💯

I'm going so say he reminds me of Otis Redding.
The music is similar to what prince would sing, but the voice is all his own. Very interesting find here.
Just realised he sounds a bit like ROD STEWART...wow so much great music in the nineties...
He actually wrote the song for stewart

Michael Jackson did not have this voice. Not even close. He did not have the songwriting abilities as TTD. The comparison is absurd.
