@@sanhitasonule5158 हिन्दी भाषा पिछले एक हजार वर्षों में भारत की प्रधान भाषा रही है। ब्रिटिश काल में अंग्रेजों ने सबसे पहले राजकाज के लिए हिन्दी भाषा का ' ही प्रयोग किया था क्योंकि उस समय तक भारत की जनता अंग्रेजी नहीं जानती थी। लेकिन धीरे-धीरे अंग्रेजी भाषा को वर्चस्व की भाषा बनाने तथा अपनी सभ्यता और संस्कृति के प्रति आकर्षित करने के लिए सन् 1835 ई. में लॉर्ड मैकाले ने अंग्रेजी को शासन की भाषा के रूप में स्थापित किया। मैकाले की उस नीति का ही परिणाम रहा कि भारत की स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात् राजभाषा के लिए हुई बैठक में हिन्दी के साथ-साथ अंग्रेजी का नाम भी चर्चा में रखा गया। लेकिन गांधी जी किसी भी तरह से अंग्रेजी के पक्ष में नहीं थे। उन्होंने खुले तौर पर हिन्दी को राजभाषा बनाने का समर्थन किया। किन्तु अंग्रेज सरकार के पिट्ठू रहने वाले अनेक राजनीतिज्ञों ने भारत की राजभाषा के रूप में हिन्दी के साथ ही अंग्रेजी को भी रखा।
