Hey team! Hope you enjoyed the video :) The A12 QS Mod team have reached out and let me know that the version I showed in this video is actually outdated, and the new version is actually an application called Project Themer (as well as a module) with WAY more themes to choose from. Hi Sam, awesome videos as always. You never fail to keep me coming back for more as I keep learning new stuff everytime. How about a video idea: Best apps that need ADB commands as part of the setup process. Therefore having a device that is not rooted and not quite stock either.
Thank you very much for this video! I have a request on your future video of exactly how to have some of these apps into the phone? its nice to know about these apps but it be nice to see how to install them into the phone. I'm having the hardest time trying to get the android mic fix. I checked out the link and I installed all the files and did the exact same steps you did in the video but it does not work
I used to root a few years ago, but I can't see the point these days. I'm quite happy with the level of customisation I can achieve without it, and I can't be bothered messing around to get my banking and security apps to work
My few reasons to root: 1. Advanced automations with Tasker. (Giving adb permission every time I want to try something new, or i reboot my device is just too much hassle. Rooted device just works so much better for these things) 2. Using Xposed Edge Pro for gestures. Native android gestures aren't even 1% of what this module can do. (Also, It can do lots more than just gestures) 3. Adblock 4. Viper4Android 5. Advanced control of app permissions and data that apps receive.
😬 I am rooting device since 10 years. Buy phone, root one 2nd day... but now I think its not big deal. Devices and apps has gone more intelligent so they can save battery, run apps without root and and do many things, previously they unable to do. Also app mentioned above are useless for me. So I should not root my new device now
@@User00571 yes its definitely personal preference. It also depends how much time you can put into all this stuff. Root for me is the very first thing I do when I get a new device. Used to have all my android phone rooted with custom ROMs installed. But I stop doing so from 2018 because since then the official ROM from all manufacturers become so good, that I don't miss custom ROM anymore
A very informative video for me. I have a Pixel 5 and a Samsung A52s 5G. I always use a launcher with the Pixel because I don't have enough setting options. On the Samsung, I love the Samsung Launcher. In the meantime, I don't even need a launcher to use icon packs from the Playstore. Because I really like the surface, widgets, etc. at Samsung. I once thought about rooting the Pixel 5 but I don't dare and I really get along with Nova Launcher very well.
Great video as always! I've Rooted my Android Phone's for year's and will continue to it's definitely worth it because you can do way more than you can without Root obviously but my main reasons to Root is because of better Ad blocking Battery saving and more Customization options and not only that but if you ever run into a certain app that requires Root you won't have to worry about your Phone not being Rooted it's just a great thing to do and it's Free and for the most part Stable as long as you know what your doing.
it's a shame you didn't mention Adaway which is in my opinion a must have app if you're device is rooted there's also naptime which takes battery savings into another level. Overall good video even tho you only focused on appearance rather than utility.
Always love this content and topic. I myself will root my 8T after the warranty ends and flash custom rom since there are so many already available fr developers.
Thanks for the video. I've rooted all my phones I've had right upto the s9 plus. I know the argument of not needing to since you could get most of the same experience without rooting, but it's not bad having extra features that help your phone to the fullest. Hopefully it would go smoothly for me when I get to it
Hi, I recenly followed your guide and rooted my Pixel 6 and got it working with my banking apps. Thanks for that, I really enjoy my rooted phone, and am pleased with how smooth the process was/ However., could you create a follow up guide on how to get the latest google security updates if one was follow your Pixel 6 root guide? Or make a video displaying how to manually install the latest update. I ask this because I keep getting the notification that my device is not up to date other videos showcase a method of choosing the 'restore images' option when uninstalling magisk but when I do so it says 'stock back up does not exist' preventing me from following the next instructions. So it would be really helpful if you could show us how to do it if we followed your initial method in rooting. Thanks

Definitely the best use I have found for root is masking my device id so that Google thinks I'm using a pixel in order to have UNLIMITED storage on Google Photos. That's just too good to be true
I'm not rooted and yet I'm getting this feature using the Pixel Experience ROM. Non Google hardware. I wasn't intending to, but I noticed it thinks it's a Pixel 6.
After being with Apple for 4 years I'm reluctant to follow those newer root guides! Btw had started in another video, you made me come back to Android and after two short weeks I must say Thank you! Glad to be back
From 2012 - 2016, all of my phone had to be rooted because back then it lacked of features. But now, I don't need to root it and just use it as an original.
Advanced Charging Controller (ACC) is my #1 reason for root. Keeps my phone charged at a specific battery percentage so it lengthens my battery charging life
Same. My drone's remote control tries to charge my phone by default for some stupid reason (which drains the remote FAST), so I need to root my 2nd phone so I can disable charging so my remote control lasts longer. I also cap the charge at 83% to maximize battery life.
Lawnchair Sole reason to root. Swift back up or migrate will become essential when u shift from ROM to ROM. Project themer and modded pixel launcher with extra grid also not included in the video.
As someone who was crazy about rooting and solely used custom roms for 5 years, I can easily say that there's no point of doing any of that anymore. Because most of the reasons why I used to do it are now a part of stock android or can be easily done via some app.
I also used to root and install custom roms but I found out that default rom is the best rom and aosp roms are basically same with different names and wallpapers. And now I got the iphone 11, I’m so happy now. All those things I loved to do with android was bullshit.
I recently got into Android on a Razer Phone 2. Got LineageOS 18.1 in, added Magisk and I am still looking for cool things to do with this device. Fun fact, I found out about Splitscreen yesterday and I am very impressed with this feature, its so so good :D Currently in the process of slowly migrating all my iPhone things to my NextCloud, and then to my Android. That'll be quite a switch...
Lucky patcher, overclocking/under clocking, ai based battery management, systemless host, screen color profile adjustments, volume step adjustments, camera api modding, kernel based tweaks, memory heap tweaks, screen touch rate overclocking, remapping buttons/adding double tap features, removing stupid system apps, and so much more. It's easier than ever to reflip safetynet especially on Samsung devices which used to be next to impossible. I see very little reason not to root if any.
Hi Sam, first of all congrats for your videos…. I learn and use some apps that you show in UA-cam! In the past I usually root my device but in the last years stop doing because I love the pixel experience. I was very excited with title of your video…. I own a Pixel 6 like you but mine dont have 5g network available because Google locked the 5g in unsuported country’s… like Portugal, and other European country’s! Is it possible after rooting the pixel 6 unlock the 5g network? Thanks 👍🏼
Honestly, all of these are pretty weak reasons to root Back in the day, I used custom roms for their ability to theme, boost performance or extend battery life, remove bloatware to free up ram.... nowadays that's not needed
Absolute best root feature for me - Pixelify Google photos. It can make Gphotos think you're using any pixel phone, including pixel 1 which means unlimited original quality photo backups. I bought a pixel 1 before rooting specifically for this reason, so I'm not getting free photo storage that I wouldn't of had without rooting, but it does make backing photos up much easier because before I would have to use a power hungry program to sync these photos to my Gdrive and then to my pixel which uploads it to photos, then I could delete the files off my Gdrive to free up storage. Very clunky and unreliable, but it worked well enough.
If you have a specific use case for rooting, then yes, do it! If not, then don't bother. In my case, my drone's remote control tries to charge my phone by default for some stupid reason (which drains the remote FAST), so I need to root my 2nd phone so I can disable charging so my remote control lasts longer. My main phone is not rooted so I can still use Google Pay.
Thank you thank you thank you for introducing detach... Just saved me a helluva lot of work from having to manually cancel certain apps updating... Keep posting root videos... Helps out a lot... ❣️
Still, other than these "Aesthetics", I don't find any viable reasons to root my phone. Custom ROM is fine, but further rooting the device is unnecessary I believe nowadays, expect for using a rooted file manager. Besides, a lot of banking or financial apps do not let you run on rooted devices, which is a major downside. Although, hiding root from those apps will fix the issue, but still it feels like a hassle to me. A launcher like Nova Launcher lets you customize a lot even if you don't have a rooted phone. My basic point is, nowadays, rooting does not give you a major function that increases your device performance, but a custom ROM sure does. That's why I use custom ROM's but without rooting my phone. I care about Performance more than aesthetics.
Priceless....... "Why you shouldn't root your phone in 2021" with this video labeled "10 reasons you should root your phone in 2022".... Well thought out
Sam , is it good to root my phone , i have my Samsung a30 s for 3 years , i really need something new , I watch all of your videos about rooting but im still hesitant. To Sum up , is it worth to root ??
I tried rooting but there are millions of tutorials and fakes, when i try to root by following a site it always asks me to do bunch of stuff, install this, install that, and along the way there is always some problem which i dont know what to do
Curious to see what will happen good/bad now that Samsung source code is out. Not sure if it's relative but one things for sure... it will be exploited but the innovations that can come about is what has me intrigued.
If these are the top things you can do with a rooted phone, it is definitely not worth downgrading your app availability and security for. These days where you do literally everything from your phone such as Banking, and shopping, Security is a top priority. Back then rooting or jailbreaking your phone was strictly so you can run Cracked applications for Free, however that is certainly not wise considering malicious exploits that can be ran along side your legitimate applications.
Hey ! I've been wondering what are you on about with the gesture and default launcher ? I've never had any problems with using a custom lawncher with gestures
4:20 blaze it. Yeah samsung already does something simmilar, if you disable auto update for an app and you press update all it will give you a new screen that asks you for every app if you really wanna update them or not, or you could just press skip all.

The thing which I never get is from where can we get these modules, in the github pages there are no download options. Can you tell me how you get these modules
I rooted when you had to. Now? Nah. Just not enough to gain. The days of running a custom rom and a rooted phone were "interesting" but what we have now is way way better in terms of stability, OTA fixes, hot spot without hassle etc.
Hi Sam, I installed Classic power menu and given all required permissions but my cards are not showing. I'm getting an error i.e, "There was a problem getting your cards. Please try again later." Please help me.
No, you will not receive OTA security updates from the manufacturer, you will need to flash a recovery or flashboot ROM if you want to continue to receive updates.

Fun fact, I found out about Splitscreen yesterday and I am very impressed with this feature, its so so good :D Currently in the process of slowly migrating all my iPhone things to my NextCloud, and then to my Android. That'll be quite a switch...
i could do the same thing with google pixel 5. just trying out different OS with my new phone. I got it used.
Thanks 👍🏼
good question to know! im getting mine in switzerland where 5g is just becoming a thing! will it be blocked?
@@blaster915 hi there. No, in Switzerland you wont have that issue
Honestly, all of these are pretty weak reasons to root
Back in the day, I used custom roms for their ability to theme, boost performance or extend battery life, remove bloatware to free up ram.... nowadays that's not needed
I'm interested. What module do you use?
I'm also interested! How do you do it?
I saw a mod similar to this one on magisk. It was a complete lie.
@@corey7219 I see..too bad. Thanks for the reply.
I am considering rooting just because of call recording apps.
For quick settings use project themer which lets you change the qs on the fly

I've lost my way, thanks for showing me the way again. I had stop rooting my phones for awhile now.
I love the video aspect ratio... Cool man!!
The original reason I used launchers was for dark mode
But since android 10 I don't need to worry about that ...
Wait, you can not enter the store anymore rooted?
great. you are one of the few ones who are providing for the rooted users.!
Ahhh. Now I want to root my phone again. But I need to use online banking.
Does Android Mic Fix mod work with A12 rom correctly?

How do you make it have the pixel launcher animation and what other reasons do you use lawn chair with root?
Hey Sam, loved the video. Could you link the wallpapers you've used in the video as well?
Priceless....... "Why you shouldn't root your phone in 2021" with this video labeled "10 reasons you should root your phone in 2022".... Well thought out

Will you be doing an updated Pixel 6 root guide for the March 2022 update ? Thanks
I tried rooting but there are millions of tutorials and fakes, when i try to root by following a site it always asks me to do bunch of stuff, install this, install that, and along the way there is always some problem which i dont know what to do
A nother advantage is that you can flash android 10 rom on any android devices
My reasons to root

Can I root my ROG 5 phone ?

I want to be able to change the aspect ratio of my phone to basically mimic a 5.5inch phone with the bottom and top black bars.
I rooted and kept the base os. I just upgraded the kernel to a custom one and that gave me plenty of new options to play with.
Hey man, i want to root my old phone as the system apps is really eating the internal memory nowadays rendering my phone useless due to storage issues. Can you share a video here on youtube that is really a legit guide foe rooting? I can't seem to find one that can be trusted. I don't wanna brick my old phone just because of following a scam video. Thanks
@@vans610 Best way is to look up model of your phone on XDA developers under their bootloader unlock and then root sections.

Any advice on where i can buy a rooted phone or maybe do it myself

I have a Samsung phone that's yet to get Android 12 (a03s) if I root is there a way for me to get it earlier?
Does root fix the 3rd party launcher issue with touch gestures?
Does rooting your phone extends the security updates from the manufacturer?
No, you will not receive OTA security updates from the manufacturer, you will need to flash a recovery or flashboot ROM if you want to continue to receive updates.
Is third party launcher have effect on any performance?or just aesthetic thing?
It doesn't affect performance. Its just for aesthetics and customization.
