Yeah I'm on both sides too. lol.
But trust me, rooting isn't worth it. In 2016 I rooted my phone because my phone came with a lot of preloaded apps and I wanted to remove them and clear my phone's memory a bit. And rooting also allowed me to do a lot. I had access to many rooted apps, customizations, battery saving, optimizations and many things! But also messed up my phone like a hundred times. Sometimes I deleted my system files without even knowing, stuck on bootloop. Then another time my Google playstore detected rooted phone and stopped downloading of all apps! My phone actually got even slower performance wise after rooting. :(
It might be an unpopular opinion but I think that using your phone as it is - is better than messing it up. In 2021 your phone has enough memory, enough cpu speed to handle some bloatware apps and even some phone doesn't even have any bloatware like OnePlus. So don't root.

@@sheikhabdullah873 That's fine but what if I want to change the rom or get the latest android because sooner or later phones stop getting updated. It's better to have that option of being able to root especially when phones get outdated and stop getting updates. Especially now that phones have better hardware which should last longer with better and optimised software if the manufacturer supported it like Apple.

      4:27.
      That's where you're wrong.
Not many people know that rooting should only be installed using magisk. Many still use kingroot,Cfroot and Super Su which are malwares and very vulnerable to threat.
Also, installing apps that requires root access is also threatening because you will never know what sort of mods they can do to your system, which is where the virus kicks in.
Custom Roms have antivirus? I've been using a lot of roms . Which one are you specifying?

For people thinking about rooting their phone there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly is that Magisk hide let's you hide the fact you're rooted from apps that can detect this, and you can have the app repackage itself under a different name to get around the increasing number of apps that check to see if you have Magisk installed.
However, if you root you lose WideVine CDM L1 which, amongst probably other things, prevents you from watching Netflix in HD. As far as I know once it's lost there's no way of getting this back. Secondly, and probably more importantly, John Wu (creator of Magisk) has said a few times that with the way Android is changing SafetyNet to be even more secure, he believes that in the near future it will be *impossible* to get around tripping SafetyNet is you're rooted. So there will be no possible way of using apps that rely on not being rooted, such as google pay, banking apps and various other apps. Unfortunately, restoring safetynet isn't always as easy as just unrooting, from my experience once you've rooted you have no choice but to stay rooted if you want to use apps that rely on SafetyNet.
If people know of solutions to these issues that I don't then please let me know :) I love rooting but haven't rooted by new phone for these reasons

As an OnePlus user I have to disagree to most of the points in this video. Some points might be specific to OnePlus others maybe not but here is my experience (and maybe it helps someone in the future):
The biggest problem to overcome for me is indeed Google Pay. I use it daily and after rooting it doesn't work out of the box. But there are many guides to fix it and I never had problems after fixing it once. Even with updates today it isn't hard to pass safety net or trick some apps into thinking that the phone isn't rooted.
The warranty void is as far as I know specific for OnePlus phones: OnePlus did or still does let you root your phone and even shares the original OOS files in case something goes wrong while rooting.
And since we are talking about OS, my next point is the update situation. I don't know if this is specific for some brands but i still get these OTA updates via my settings app. But since my phone is rooted I get a message telling me it will download the update completely as flashable zip. You then can flash it via TWRP and you will have always an updated phone. Keep in mind you have to prepare some steps to not loose root or access to TWRP (it's 2 or 3 taps in magisk).
What actually is something that annoys me while rooting today is the new architecture of phones with A/B partitions. But even this is a very small problem if you keep in mind that you root your phone maybe twice a year. Long story short, especially for OnePlus users (and maybe other brands too) i think rooting doesn't get more difficult these days than it was before. I am curious about other opinions. Have a great day and thank you for such good videos Sam!

Rooting is definitely worth it especially if you have a Google Pixel and the main reason I Root is so I can block ad's in apps I use AdGuard and the only way you can block basically all app ad's is with Root some other apps block ad's that don't require Root but they don't block all the ad's AdGuard does but only if you have a Rooted phone because you have to have access to the System Certificate Store which you can only access with Root.

About the problems with magisk and google pay, there are some workarounds that actually work. It starts becoming a not so easy thing if we talk about Xposed. Do you guys know a way to use both Xposed and Google Pay? (if you are wondering why I need xposed in 2021: I hate the album art appearing as a wallpaper in my lockscreen, the only way I know to disable this "feature" is by using an xposed module; so I would be grateful if someone could tell me another way to keep my personal wallpaper when playing music)

About Bootloop and soft brick, the first time it happened I was freaking out, then I learnd the stuff
Its basically like, you own the original iPhone, and the first call ever, back in 2007, you'll be blank, not knowing what to do. Then you learn to swipe to answer the call. Till date you answer a Phone like a pro.
Restoring from a soft brick is similar situation IMO and in my experience ✌🏽

@@anonamemous6865 Doin it on pixels, samsungs or even onplus can go risky. But Xiaomi phones, AFAIK has a lot of support and tools to recover both from community, and from the brand themselves. So it'd be easy to work with that. Also if you're working or rely on your phone a lot, it'd be annoying and sometimes frustrating to loose connection, to flash a rom and setup back your app data(you can backup all app, with data. and restore after flash, and the apps will work like nothing has changed) it takes an hour or more. there are a lot of options to try and explore (magisk modules, custom roms and kernels. its like a video game, but demands time offline, so you cant use the phone)
Atleast it happened for me and most newbies will hate developers and people for not making the stuff perfect, while he did something wrong missing some steps in instructions
