Fletch you can't go wrong with an Imperial. The most carefully manufactured car in the US. Have loved them since I was a little kid. I love my 1959 Imperial Crown!
Great episode. Thank you. Good to see the big girl moving. Buying quality is always the best choice, as is recognising the people who help with the journey. Will we see another video about a certain young lady in the U.S.A who is restoring her classic car with her dad?
Hi David, good point (no pun intended lol) I didn't film the underside of the cap - but it is unscathed and like new. That rotor button was obviously crap from factory - anyway, a new one is on now and works 100% - Cheers David. Fletch :-)
Mr. Fletch, your project is coming out great! A couple of questions: Is there a part three to look forward to? Why were the rocker covers not re-sprayed when you painted the engine? What is your plan for the Caddy Deville sitting in the background?
Hi Donald - good questions. Yes, there will be a Part 3. The rocker covers are sprayed clear to preserve them as found. There's even a factory number on the left bank that I cannot part with. I want to keep the car as original "as found" as possible. A big bright new engine just wouldn't suit I believe...the rocker covers in clear take the "new" away a bit, same as the air cleaner . My beloved 1972 Caddy is 100% original also (apart from a full mechanical overhaul) and is remaining "as is" - yes, it too needs to be featured one day. Cheers Donald, bests, Fletch.
its funny as it wasnt until 2014 or whenever russia was started making bonza bucks off oil/gas that we saw a fully new successor to that old soviet era yank landyacht knockoff GaZ/ZiL chauffer cars. Aurus or something, looks like a rolls knockoff, but its fully domestic made besides some Porsche engineering input on the engine.
Very cool/in-depth video series. Hard to find, though. I think you'd have a LOT more views and subscribers if it were easier to find. Maybe add the year "1968," to the subject.
Hey buddy - just lost my front brake pads & rear shoes. It's a pain in the arse to be honest - another ridiculous law made by people with zero clue. A 1962 Cadillac has just arrived as well - all brake shoes missing. At least nothing else was touched. Cheers, Fletch.
Nice work Fletch, keeping these cars as original as you can is the best way to go. Just don't let Lee Marvin drive it.....here he is with a '67 model.......ua-cam.com/video/NkBWagBVBxM/v-deo.html

Love your Imperial, great colour. Fantastic you became the next care taker. Very contagious laughter. I currently own two black 73 Imperials.

@@classicrestostv1fletch764 thanks for the info, My Friend.
Can't be too many of these beasts downunder. Nice one.
Always thought that Imperials were the inspiration for the big Russian GaZ.

I must have missed the episode explaining why the valve covers were left as if from the titanic’s debris field. You can get 98 octane?!Leaded too?

Hey Fletch. Love those 67 & 68 Imperials. I've got my eye on one. How did you go with asbestos when you imported it?

Don’t run the exhaust gasket mate.
They don’t run them
If the manifold is straight they are all good
yes you don't have to run them as they didn't factory but it's good practice to use them now or at very least an skim of RTV.
