Elvira was an incredibly commanding performer. You couldn't take your eyes off her! Just a gorgeous lady!!

loutyr, your old gymnastic videos are of STUNNING clarity! I don't know how you managed such clarity, but thank you deeply for blessing the UA-cam community, and the gym community, with them.

What people forget is that sequins do not make you a star and fabulous. You just have to be a star and fabulous.

Gymnastics was so much more interesting back then. Today's gymnasts can't compare with her dance and expression. Difficulty be damned...they didn't have spring loaded mats then. Routines today all look the same. They've killed this once beautiful sport. Sad

Why can't today's gymnasts perform like this. Not even the Russian's do this today.

They come out of a library of classic sports from the years I produced and directed sports shows for Marvin Sugarman productions. They were digitized from the original quad tapes from the 60's, 70's and 80's. That's why they look good.

Cant believe the clarity and quality of these videos: wonderful. This is truly "artistic" gymnastics; not the power tumbling and skills chuckfest which we see today. I yearn to see a return to artistry, but these golden days are gone forever. Damn this new code of points: its totally ruined womens gymnastics:(

The 1972 Soviet Olympic team USA tour 1973. A couple of years ago.

Why didn't she win an overall title? It seems to me that she was doing the same stuff as Ludmilla but scored far less, although she won bronze overall in the world cup

Or for that matter, why did she not win more titles for floor? Her difficulty would've been right up there for the era, and she was a superlative dancer even at a time when the Soviet team was blessed with highly expressive performers on this event.

@@cherylannemasonExactly, Elvira was a great gymnast who deserved better, I don't know why she was so few talk about and underscored, especially in comparaison to Tourischeva which to be honest was very overrated after the 72 olympics

Help me… when she performs her first twist she twists to the left. When she does her middle tumble, she twists to the right? How is that possible?

Yes but she's not in her patented Black. But she is lovely. Thanks for the note.
