One of my favorite game series of all time that may have fallen by the wayside but will never be forgotten. Eager to see you give commentary, jokes and opinions on all 5 cases of the first game!
I left a comment on the site that Patreon requests for games should be re-opened so long as he set a reasonable MAXIMUM length (25 hours, if I remember right), using How Long to Beat as the yardstick. Ace Attorney 1-4 are below that limit. 5 and 6 would be ineligible.
Personally just found how the series actually got created, basically as a one man project being pushed and all, as fascinating as the games themselves.
The question is if he is going to do just the four cases of the original game or include Rise from the Ashes in the review? Probably the latter as most versions avaliable to the US include it but I can see him choose to not cover it as it would feel tacked on as case 4 gave a satisfying conclusion (similar to his critique about the Hobbit where the battle of the five armies felt unnecessary to him) but I can see him giving it a mention along with a brief explanation of why it isn't going to be covered and maybe including brief opinions.
Superman thinking that the eggs were rock formations reminds me of the Policeman at the start of Deep Breath thinking the t-rex throwing up the TARDIS was laying an egg and Vastra questioning his grasp of biology.
Decided to read the first issue when Linkara said he was doing the video, three things of note 1. The book sort of implied that the Xenomorhs would gain Kryptonian powers… and they did not, which makes the book way less fun for me. 2. This was Dan Jurgens actual attempt to bring in Supergirl and hey, it’s better than whatever the hell John Byrne did. 3. Dan Jurgens may have HATED how Superman killed the pocket universe kryptonians, but he was one of the few writers to care and to progress supermans character on it, showing again why Dan Jurgens is a good writer. He took what he considered a terrible story and worked his best way to give it pathos and drama without melodrama and didn’t just retcon it or pretend it never happened. Good on Jurgens.
Damn its been a while since I watched you. Got married, had a kid, now just stumbled upon this vid. "wow that takes me back, wait what do you mean uploaded 2 weeks ago, what sorcery is this!" "I bet this would go great with butter" This one of the funniest episodes of yours in recent memory and I'm definitely looking forward to more! What's awesome about the first Batman vs Predator comic was that it was written by Dave Gibbons of all people.
19:40 I think they realized this, which is why they have it all tied into Krypton in general like this. This came out before the return of Kara Zor-El in the DCU. So that's the environment it was released in: the period of time where Superman was mandated as the last Kryptonian. Given that, and the general "canon-like" vibe of the book, it feeds the viewer hope that we are finally seeing Post-Crisis Kara. Of course, part 2 destroys that and it's non-canon, but I'm not sure how clear that was at the time.
That flashback with Superman killing the pocket dimension kryptonians, they did from the start that he was broken up and all that. I think that was done to show why Superman doesn't kill unless absolutely necessary and that he'll be bothered by it, but it was written a bit awkwardly.
Kimble: "This is not a M*A*S*H Unit!" Superman: "You're right, Dr. Kimble. If it was, I might've talked to Hawkeye Pierce instead of you, and having a much better time"
@@ShadowKnux372 there is currently an official graphic novel series by Chris Grine (Author of Chickenhare), but I don't think there were any vintage ones.
You know this is a crossover that actually can make sense with Superman and the Xenomorphs. Wonder if Superman will end up dealing with other unusual alien crossover phenomenons like metroids, predators etc.
Superman is now stuck in Argo City, while a Luthorcorp Space Station miles upon miles away is about to be infested with xenomorphs. This is literally “Over There needs to take care of its own problems.”
18:26 Xenomorphs inherit traits of their hosts. Which means those Kryptonian xenomorphs likely have the same solar absorption as Superman and thus, same powers (except heat vision, since, you know, no eyes). And they're headed towards Earth. And because the xenomorphs usually are fully black, they can absorb much more solar radiation. Pants to be browned for Superman Vs Aliens #2.
I’m glad you finally addressed, albeit unintentionally, that old Byrne story where Superman killed. I’ve wanted to hear your thoughts on that. That story led to him exiling in space but that’s a long story. I have these issues and the while the aliens are sidelined a bit in issue 1 it gets creepier in the next issues. Good review.
Another interesting aspect is the idea of Xenomorph's born form surviving Kryptonians could potentially gain superpowers due to exposure to Earth's yellow sun (while also possibly gaining a weakness to Kryptonite, Red Sun radiation, and magic)! An interesting concept that adds another element of danger should the Kryptonian Xenomorphs make it to Earth! Super Xenomorphs also makes Superman & Supergirl being present in the story less of an issue as they would possess similar powers possibly augmented by Xenomorph biology! Xenomorphs with the power of a Kryptonian is a scary concept & Superman's rejection of lethal force creates an interesting dilemma for how to deal with the Xenomorphs & Super Xenomorphs! Then there is the prospect of Lexcorp pulling a Weyland-Yutani and trying to acquire the Super Xenomorphs thus Superman & Supergirl have to work together to keep Lex and/or his company gain ahold of them!
So, here's an interesting question: since xenomorphs canonically take up certain physical characteristics of their host, would the aliens spawned from the kryptonians acquire superpowers, once they reach earth? I'm guessing/hoping we'll know the answer in future chapters of the story.
10:50 - 12:24; definitely shows an understanding of Superman's character, why he usually doesn't kill, how Superman feels when he's forced to kill, how it enforces Superman's desire to not kill, and how it further shows how the man of steel film fails to understand Superman's character and his stance against killing. I wholeheartedly agree with Linkara.
it is also interesting to bring up in a story like this, where we KNOW that the aliens are much more monstrous and so predatory that they are basically animals; so it brings up a intersting story tid bit for superman: should he kill these dangerous monsters?
@@stevenhedge2850 fair point. Personally if there are other options, Superman won't kill, and I don't think that the xenomorphs are big enough threats to force Superman to kill.
Crossover ideas that I think will work: Sonic the hedgehog/Transformers crossover RWBY/Marvel Crossover RWBY/Transformers crossover DBZ/One piece Crossover Ben 10/DC crossover
Considering that Xenomorphs adopt the traits of their birth host, an extended DC Aliens series could feature critters that have burst from superheroes. Xenoflash, or Wondermorph for example. They just need to find a superpowered "patient zero" on Earth to start that.
Whats more dangerous about these Xenomorphs is if they came out of Kryptonians, if they get affected by the sun as Supes has.....it would be apocalyptic. Also cannot wait to see you cover Batman vs Predator. That's my favorite batman book!
Heres a question If superman is on earth and at full strength Would a chestburster be able to hurt him Or would it just headbut itself to death on the inside of his chest
15:43 the idea of Superman naturally not having good eyesight if it wasn't for the sun affects on him sounds interesting as a bit of flavor lore in my opinion... Since we are glasses as Clark Kent and all
14:53 - I saw the cat's tail curling in and thought it was a face-hugger tail and was about to be the start of some kind of bit before I realized what it was.
Honestly, I feel that Superman, especially now, should ONLY kill if its a last resort, like say, Doomsday or the like, but yeah, it should also affect him
I've actually had a paperback copy of Superman vs. Aliens. 4:29- Space air? So this comic takes place in the Power Rangers Universe? 5:46- Son of a bitch. I love it when you pull out CHYDCABNTKIOTUT. 11:36- I never had a problem with Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel, mostly because there was no other way to stop Zod, and he felt bad after doing the deed. Also, in MoS, he wasn't all smiley about it when he seeming killed Zod in Superman II. 12:17- At least he stopped more citywide destruction in BvS by carrying Doomsday into Earth orbit. 13:31- "Hope this is not CHRIS'S blood." 17:24- And THERE'S the regular Resident Evil clip you use. 21:05- There is a comic called Superman & Batman vs. Aliens & Predator. I've read it, and it does seem to keep continuity with all the previous Alien and Predator crossovers.
I'm pretty sure this miniseries was meant to be in-continuity at the time. I read an interview some time ago with Dan Jurgens explaining this was his attempt at introducing a more traditional Supergirl to the post-Crisis universe, though the Matrix Supergirl was already established, so a way to carry her over into the mainline titles was never found.
Wow, not only is this a weird crossover between DC Superman and the Alien franchise, but this comic makes Kryptonians look like Florida Man hillbillies in 1980s Earth clothes, gives Lois Lane the most unflattering poses to stand around (at 10:20 minutes), and gives Superman an unkempt mullet and a cape that looks like a blanket draped over his shoulders.
Clark: "But Doctor! What if this...object has hostile intent?" Kimble: "Science and research should never be regarded in terms of benevolence or malevolence! Even though I work for a company who's former CEO has spent a lot of time, effort, and money into trying to prove the hostile intentions of an alien superhero!"
It always makes me happy when a new Linkara episode turns up. Edit: I mean, yeah, they might know how to build more technology, but what are the odds? Pick four random Americans and you'll be lucky to get a new burger recipe.
It still weirds me out depictions of Superman with long hair. Although this looks more like a super mullet. Faster than speeding bullet in the front, more powerful than a locomotive in the back lol
First of all: Happy to see that Superman outfit make a comeback, it's a dope look! Second: Was gonna say I'm bummed we haven't gotten to the Predator crossover yet considering how bonkers its battle with Batman was, but now I'm gonna say: schedule slippage, don't you dare ruin this for us! Then again, I suppose it's only fair to finish off the Alien stuff first. Heck, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious how a xenomorph could hurt Superman considering he's... y'know... SUPERMAN. Plus I'm always down for more Aliens. (sees a poster for AVP: Requiem) Most of the time. Third: what's scarier; the alien or Superman's mullet? YOU MAKE THE CALL!
Linkara: I am going to talk about Ace Attorney. Me: YAY!!! Linkara: But I need to delay the continuation of Late Night Double Feature Again. Me: NOOOOOOO!!!!
"And see how an even more unlikely paring went down." I mean, both sides are literally aliens so... Also, Batman Vs. Predator sounds like the best idea either side has had in a while. Greenlight the movie!
I think he's talking about how the power level difference is so great, Superman has to be nerfed heavily to even make it a fair fight for the xenomorphs. Also, the generally optimistic tone of Superman doesn't fit in with the nihilistic tone of the Aliens franchise.
@@GeneralKenobi75 You can also have the Xenomorphs hatch from something that gives them powers close to Superman. Imagine a Doomsday Xenomorph or one with a Kryptonian's powers. Or if Darkseid powered a few up with whatever he does to Parademons.

Having Batman fight creatures like the Xenomorph and the Predator makes sense, because the power scaling is more fair, and it’s interesting to see Batman face off against aliens that thrive on hunting. Having Superman fight a Xenomorph doesn’t make sense, because even the weakest version of Superman would one shot every Xenomorph.
3:25...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM my word, Superman is lookin really drippy today, i just cant take my eyes off this one panel. The scariest thing in this comic is that we may never see him this dripped out ever again
Superman talking about how he’d never kill again got me thinking about something. Do Xenomorphs count as people?? I’ve always seen them as more animal-ish. Like the Predator, that’s definitely a person, but the Xenomorph? Just a creature!
I've always hoped you'd end up covering this one at some point, it's a comic I remember reading at a cousin's place sometime in my early teens. I was already familiar with Alien and Superman, and it seemed a very strange pairing even back then, but I recall being pretty engrossed in it, despite not really being into comics outside of Donald Duck, and a few moments from the later issues still sit in my mind and help shape my idea of both the Xenomorph and Superman to this day!
Man, I was just thinking 'Wow, this set-up for a surviving Kryptonian Colony sounds an awful lot like a modernized take on Kara's backstory', and then suddenly Kara shows up! Love seeing the character make the occasional appearance before Rebirth revived them!
11:26 the same thing tends to happen with Doomsday where Clark does try to go for the kill on him. Is that an exception given Doomsdays mindlessness or too much im curious about your thoughts
15:00 IIRC at least one writer has tried to claim xenomorphs were silicon-based lifeforms. Obviously this doesn't gel with lots of things we know about them, but it would explain why Superman's X-ray vision initially picks them up as "rocks" and not "organic eggs"
This series WAS intended to be continuity at the time it was written. If you read Superman vol. 2 #119, they make reference to the events of Superman/Aliens. This Argo City and Kara weren't from Krypton, because editorial stated Superman would be the ONLY Kryptonian in a post-Crisis universe. Kara was meant to be the new Supergirl, since the Matrix version of the character wasn't doing well in the regular books. But DC instead decided to go with Peter David's pitch for the angel version that launched the next year. Dan Jurgens has brought this up at various conventions and interviews. Including all the Superman background makes more sense in that light, to fill in Aliens fans who picked up the book. Plus in 1995 Superman was still at an all time high from the Death of Superman story that made national news and was still bringing in new readers.

Great Ace Attorney was fun
The question is if he is going to do just the four cases of the original game or include Rise from the Ashes in the review? Probably the latter as most versions avaliable to the US include it but I can see him choose to not cover it as it would feel tacked on as case 4 gave a satisfying conclusion (similar to his critique about the Hobbit where the battle of the five armies felt unnecessary to him) but I can see him giving it a mention along with a brief explanation of why it isn't going to be covered and maybe including brief opinions.
Well maybe the first 4 if he doesn't play on the trilogy.
a kryptonian hatched xenomorph is one of the scariest concepts I've ever heard
Superman thinking that the eggs were rock formations reminds me of the Policeman at the start of Deep Breath thinking the t-rex throwing up the TARDIS was laying an egg and Vastra questioning his grasp of biology.
Decided to read the first issue when Linkara said he was doing the video, three things of note
They didn't gain any powers? Lame.
i was just thinking to myself, “I hope Linkara reviews a Superman comic soon”
He always says which review he's doing next at the end of each video.....
Trotsky, you're not the smartest,
Seinfeld, you're not an artist.
Damn its been a while since I watched you. Got married, had a kid, now just stumbled upon this vid.
"wow that takes me back, wait what do you mean uploaded 2 weeks ago, what sorcery is this!"
Awesome to see you still doing this with the same energy I remember from the old vids. Awesome
Subbed ofcourse
13:17 That’s the thing, the bus was trying to go OVER THERE. So it can solve it’s own problems.
Given the fact that this is superman I'm not worried that there will be super xenomorphs. Although that would be cool
Oh, that would work! The chestbursters did emerge from Kryptonians, after all...
They could have him get facehugged and then have the embryo unable to burst out, forcing them to remove it surgically thus giving us a superxeno to fight.
"I bet this would go great with butter"
This one of the funniest episodes of yours in recent memory and I'm definitely looking forward to more!
Kimble: "This is not a M*A*S*H Unit!"
Superman: "You're right, Dr. Kimble. If it was, I might've talked to Hawkeye Pierce instead of you, and having a much better time"
"Superman successfully brings back a Kryptonian bidet."
Basically the plot of Animorphs #14.
Oh hey, this makes me think, were there ever Animorphs comics?
@@ShadowKnux372 there is currently an official graphic novel series by Chris Grine (Author of Chickenhare), but I don't think there were any vintage ones.
You know this is a crossover that actually can make sense with Superman and the Xenomorphs. Wonder if Superman will end up dealing with other unusual alien crossover phenomenons like metroids, predators etc.
I feel like metroids might pose a problem, since they seem to be able to absorb energy, possibly like Parasite
@@Awesome_Pichu Metroids are (usually) weak to cold and Superman has ice breath. He'll be fine!
Superman vs the Tribbles
Batman and Superman vs Aliens and Predator is a thing
Always love the Resident Evil "Yeah" clip whenever it pops up.
Big fan of all the DC/Darkhorse crossover stuff. Green Lantern/Aliens being my personal favorite. Love your content as always!
Somewhere in this room there's a ninja cat 14:50
I like that you told everyone to buy the Winter 83 DVD while also still wearing the Superman suit
On 14:50 I’m not gonna lie. When the cat show up and we only saw it tails. It ligit looked like a face hugger and did make me jump out of my chair. 😅
4:20-4:30 I guess THAT explains how Jello-Man got into space.
In the next couple of years I guess we'll be getting Green Lantern vs. Aliens, which isn't that bad
Crossover ideas that I think will work:
Sonic the hedgehog/Transformers crossover
RWBY/Marvel Crossover
RWBY/Transformers crossover
DBZ/One piece Crossover
Ben 10/DC crossover
I would enjoy a RWBY/Marvel crossover if the team beat up Tony for both Civil Wars.
It is interesting how he pondered if they were sapient. Meanwhile, Green Lantern could just check his ring to identify xenomorphs.
In preparation for the next episode:
Von Karma, No! You can't just make yourself the star of a Linkara review.
Considering that Xenomorphs adopt the traits of their birth host, an extended DC Aliens series could feature critters that have burst from superheroes. Xenoflash, or Wondermorph for example. They just need to find a superpowered "patient zero" on Earth to start that.
If memory serves, the Green Lantern vs Alien book confirms that these are all in continuity
"Superman brings back a Kryptonian bidet"
Oh, like they couldn't weaponize that! :P
Whats more dangerous about these Xenomorphs is if they came out of Kryptonians, if they get affected by the sun as Supes has.....it would be apocalyptic.
Also cannot wait to see you cover Batman vs Predator. That's my favorite batman book!
Heres a question
If superman is on earth and at full strength
Would a chestburster be able to hurt him
Or would it just headbut itself to death on the inside of his chest
This comic series was master class on how to make Superman crossover with slasher movies
Honestly, I feel that Superman, especially now, should ONLY kill if its a last resort, like say, Doomsday or the like, but yeah, it should also affect him
Agreed.
Would Darkseid count since he's the literal god of evil?
13:31- "Hope this is not CHRIS'S blood."
17:24- And THERE'S the regular Resident Evil clip you use.
Superman: "The reality is *you* are a Xenomorph. I AM A MAN!"
*Punches Xenomorph*
Wow, not only is this a weird crossover between DC Superman and the Alien franchise, but this comic makes Kryptonians look like Florida Man hillbillies in 1980s Earth clothes, gives Lois Lane the most unflattering poses to stand around (at 10:20 minutes), and gives Superman an unkempt mullet and a cape that looks like a blanket draped over his shoulders.
Clark: "But Doctor! What if this...object has hostile intent?"
Kimble: "Science and research should never be regarded in terms of benevolence or malevolence!
That one shot of Superman really cracks me up. He looks like he is drunk and just got out of bed.
It still weirds me out depictions of Superman with long hair. Although this looks more like a super mullet. Faster than speeding bullet in the front, more powerful than a locomotive in the back lol
16:48 "My eyes! The goggles do nothing!"
Superman's mullet. Every time.
3:32 Superman asked Bruce for fashion tips clearly
Linkara: I am going to talk about Ace Attorney.
Me: YAY!!!
Linkara: But I need to delay the continuation of Late Night Double Feature Again.
Me: NOOOOOOO!!!!
"And see how an even more unlikely paring went down."
I mean, both sides are literally aliens so...
Superman vs alien is a very interesting elseworld story in my opinion
Given the fact Superman is an alien himself, this crossover makes sense. Great job as always, Linkara
COMIC LORE THAT I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN UNDERSTAND STUFF! OH HELL YEAH! One of my favorite long named segments that I can't remember the name of!
Since last time I commented, I have started out on my first job, gonna get my first paycheck soon enough. Always good to check the channel from time to time!
And hey, showing bits of continuity when it probably wouldn't be needed is better than dropping continuity when it would be needed! :D
SOME KIND OF CRAB- LMAO IM STILL NOT OVER THAT EVEN THOUGH OTHER JOKES CAME UP, *CRABS!?*
ACE
ATTORNEY!? oh linkara you won me over now HELL YEAH ACE ATTORNEY WE'RE GONNA GET EDGEWORTHHHHHH
Houston, we have a problem here no wait that's just superman red eyes ok we're good here nevermind
Great review!
Fine comic. Nice artwork and the story was interesting.
In regards to your question about the blood, my best guess is that Kara fought one earlier and maybe wounded it.
Keep up the great videos :)
"In space nobody will mock my supermullet!"
I am a bit surprised Linkara didn't comment on it. Likely he already made so many jokes about it there are not many left anymore.
Ace Atterney? Heck yeah im all fore it! Realy looking forward too that one!
9:46 and lexcorp promptly developed a water jet from that tech that can cut a planet in half or put out the sun or some other star (insert because science clip here) and thus began the lexcorp galactic empire.
Loving to see that this being uploaded! I hope to see more soon!
*Sees Superman kissing a Xenomorph*
God I wish that was me.
As superman or the xenomorph?
Superman or the Xenomorph?
Uh care to be more specific. Like kissing superman? The xenomorph?
@@professorpengu502 Yes.
@@shadowlinkbds Yes.
Kara Zor-El: Xenomorph Hunter. I'd read that.
He missed a good doctor who joke with superman saying "contact"
Superman talking about how he’d never kill again got me thinking about something. Do Xenomorphs count as people?? I’ve always seen them as more animal-ish. Like the Predator, that’s definitely a person, but the Xenomorph? Just a creature!
Xenomorphs are basically no different from Doomsday. More a living weapon than a person or animal.
Considering the hundreds of alien invasions that have happened at this point, Clark's question for the doctor seems quite the reasonable one.
I really like this comic series. It's not perfect, but well handles how the encounter could go.
Winter of 83 is f*©king sick on DVD, BTW.
11:26 the same thing tends to happen with Doomsday where Clark does try to go for the kill on him. Is that an exception given Doomsdays mindlessness or too much im curious about your thoughts
15:00
IIRC at least one writer has tried to claim xenomorphs were silicon-based lifeforms. Obviously this doesn't gel with lots of things we know about them, but it would explain why Superman's X-ray vision initially picks them up as "rocks" and not "organic eggs"
Nice to see you holding the comic your reviewing again
I actually Iiked this story back when it came out. A powered down Superman dealing with Xenomorphs.
You added more lines to the song! Nice!
Oh wow I actually had this comic when I was a child! Sold it to a certain xenomorphilic friend when I got older, but I still have fond memories of it. Solid writing with some really nice artwork
