Come thrift store shopping with my mom and I at Goodwill and a huge antique mall loaded with tons of vintage and antiques from home decor to unique furniture pieces. It took me over a year to recover from my hysterectomy and at times I recall just hiding in a corner and crying because I couldn't do the simplest of tasks.

I dont think we realize how hard it is for parents to make those late age transitions. I am a lady of a certain age and am finding it to be a bit melancholy moving into my later years. We all will have our challenges as the years go on and I am trying to resign myself to letting others know my boundaries and what my limitations are as I make self care and safety a priority. Your mom is so lucky to have you near by and to be able to share time with you

Great to have you back Selena. I was 28 years old when I ended up with a hysterectomy due to a lot of scaring in my uterus. It was a long period of recovery and I definitely feel for you girl. Take good care of yourself.

It's so good to see the dynamic duo in action again. When I was 50 I had the same surgery, but it was complicated by an MRSA wound infection ( drug resistant staph infection). I was re-hospitalized and given I.V. antibiotic therapy and spent a whole summer having a wound care nurse come twice a day to change my dressing. I lost 12 pounds and lost quite a bit of blood during surgery, so I looked like Casper the ghost and was anemic. I was as weak as a kitten and felt like a truck ran over me. Being thrown into menopause overnight was quite the adventure as well. I'm so glad your healing well and you'll be as strong as ever soon. Let Pete move that dresser without your help missy!!!
You’re so welcome, we all love you and are always here for you. Personally, you have been an inspiration for me, through difficult times. Your strength and resilient way helps so many to keep going and as you say not sit on them for long. I’ve had extreme loss from my loving husband, and just a few weeks ago my 99 year old mother in law, and a week later my brother in law, but even with all this I will never give in, I will live and appreciate each day. Thank you Selina for continuing and living your best life🦋💕

It is so nice to see you and your Mom out together having fun. She has done a wonderful job in her yard. I admire her. The living room decor was exactly what I had until May 2021 when my home flooded with 17 inches of water. I was devastated because my late husband and I chose it all together. I have not replaced it. I can no longer buy quality furniture at today's prices.

Me again…. I can’t help but agree with your philosophies regarding design and knowing when it feels right and more importantly- the gratitude for healing and good health. I’m probably around your mom’s age, living in a big old house ( like you) , loving design and gardening- which is why I’m such a fan. So far my husband and I can manage our big ole house and yard but I know there will come that time. We are in our late sixties and biding our time and are mentally preparing for the inevitable. By the grace of God - we’re all going to age and have to accept the limitations that come with it. But your mom’s place looks great!!! As if she’s been there far longer- so cozy and lived in. So glad you’re back and looking forward for more to come!❤❤❤

Selina! Thank you so much for sharing your very personal story with all of us. We women need to talk about our female bodies and support each other and advocate for one another like you have been. I have a 22 year old profoundly disabled, non-verbal daughter and thanks to you sharing your story, I FINALLY insisted on having her seen by a OB-GYN. Thankfully everything is normal 🙏🏽 but I was “that Mom” throughout all the procedures and testing and will continue to advocate for her, myself and all women when it comes to our health. Selena, I have a daughter and her and I have a tight bond. We do shopping and lunch dates together and its always a special time when we get together. I'm retired and she is still working. Moms and daughters know what each other is thinking most of the time. So good to hear y'all are gearing up for fall shopping. ...YES!!!!!
