Not really it all depends on the condition of the bike.

It's looking great now, there was no front brake light switch on either of the UK "A" models that I had, but it was sold all round the world with slight variations.

My 1973 250k USA import has no front brake light ether

You would consider that a big safety consideration due to using the front brake the most. I guess they did things differently back in the 70s.

@@markxtinkering the gt250 has some really bad flaws from the factory. One is the soldered in headlight bulb from the factory on the 1973 USA model WHY?!?!?
Another one is the oil pump is connected to the clutch. So if your sat in traffic in gear with the clutch pulled in... No two stroke oil gets pumped.. other than that it's a lovely machine.

Oil pump connected to the clutch? I guess if it's driven off the outer basket that's always rotating it's all good.

I am actually using the gt185 as a learning experience for when I do my gt750. Good luck with your project, another one will live again 👍👍

Hello good fella, I enjoyed & found your video very helpful. One thing that I'm still confused about is you did not show the assembly of how the switch is assembled. I have just a copper u-shape & a little spring and that's all. I can't figure out how she works or goes back together. Anything you can share would be appreciated. JTK 53

Hey Jeff, this switch was a real pain in the butt to get assembled and apologies for not showing it clearer. The start button pushes through the case then the spring goes over the pin on the button from the inside. The spring pushes against the U shaped bit. The U shape is facing away from the spring. This makes the spring action of the button because the U shape is captured in the casing. Really hard to describe but if you drop me your email address I will send you a picture.
Good luck with it, cheers ,Mark

I've really enjoyed your videos, as I'm restoring a '76 GT185A myself. You mentioned that you had a heck of a time getting the master cylinder reservoir off. How did you ultimately get it free? I've been trying carefully for days without any success. Good luck with the rest of the project!

Hey Brent, thanks for your comment and glad your liking the vids. It was a while ago that I was doing the master cylinder so can't remember exactly. But it was the corrosion jamming it in there...all around the O ring seal, which also goes hard as a rock.I think I wrapped a bit of rag around the reservoir and gripped the very bottom of it with channel locks...and twisted it until it started to move. Good luck with it, that job was a doozy cos everything was so messed up. Cheers. Mark

There are plenty of diagrams that you can reference to. Also when you take it apart you do the reverse for assembly.
