I got this book at 9 When l got clean and sober years later and re-discover it Shared as the children's book with lessons for us stuffy adults And now you help share it with me Wonderful
I like the way how you are reading this lovely story. I think that people who are learning English would love to hear more things like that from you. Thank you.
Hi there, first, I was disappointed to find out they had removed the movie from youtube. Then, I was delighted to see someone had the audio. But then, I saw someone had the audio and had supplemented it with pictures! A million thanks. I read this book, many decades ago. I don't remember the details but I do remember the pictues and the short segments of the book associated with each picture. Now, listening to your beautiful voice, I can dream again, almost as if I were hearing it for the first time. Funnily enough, as a child in an adult body, I savour each word like eating a Haagendass icecream cone, feel some sadness when it brings up my own story both as a child and as an adult. So grateful you took the time and effort to do this. Signed: Another Little Prince who can't understand most adults. grin. Gilles Parker
This is really lovely. As a professional editor, there is so little I would change. Off hand, I would cut out the line "I took my shoe off." And, I wish it had all three sheep in it, and the other pictures that didn't make it. There are also a few lines that got a tiny bit jumbled. Regardless of those little details, this is just magnificent. You are quite talented and I know, I KNOW, you actually understand The Little Prince to have given this reading. Thank you so much for uploading this.
I never comment on videos but I had to comment on this one. Netflix just released a Little Prince movie and before I watch it I needed to refamiliarize myself with the story which I only remembered in bits and pieces so off I went to search for a youtube video that could do that. There are quite a few up here but I stumbled upon this one and once I heard the first 15 seconds there went the next two hours. It was an amazing read. Here I am late at night in NYC with only three hours to sleep and I was mesmerized by your beautiful voice (an a saucy brit accent to boot!!). I saw some weirdo complain about the speed at which you read but I have to tell you that's exactly what sold me on it. You read it in such a warm and natural manner that instead of feeling what I feel when I listen to an audio book (that it was pre recorded and Im listening to it alone, or that someone is reading it to a whole group of people) yours was exactly the opposite. Your delivery felt unique in that I felt you were reading it to me (in the style of the grandpa in the princess bride). by my bedside. while drinking (insert favorite nighttime hot beverage here). I actually liked that you rare occasion stumbled on some words. It made it seem more human and natural. Like a friend was reading it to me (think of the quality of Morgan Freemans narration in The Shawshank Redemption). The addition of the pictures was a nice touch but It was easy to get lost in the story by the way in which you delivered it (I'm telling you that voice of yours begs to read other great stories. The Alchemist? :). Great job and thank you very much for helping me rediscover this classic. God Bless. D
There are several translations from the French to English and this has to be the best one. It has bags of charm which other translations miss. Well read, thanks for uploading.
Most amazing reading! i dont much care for audio books, the reader never does it justice... But Lisa you have done it so incredibly well, tha i have listened to it so many times it just pops up on my time line... please please please read more books!
Absolutely BRILLIANT :-) I narrate short stories for a podcast, and your performance is inspirational indeed. Please continue to post more...such a gift needs to be heard!
we were listening to you in class and the whole class and me and teacher said that we like how you get into the story and share the emotions really good
I was six when I first read this book. The first two minutes of the narration brought back memories. I can't find my copy, so thank you for posting this audio version. :)
This is really great honestly, I just finally read this book even though I'm older now and I want to buy it but I can't find it ye and I'm happy I can still listen to it.
From 32:15 to 46:22 the love story between The Little Prince and his Rose is everything! My favourite part of the book used to be the taming of the Fox and his secret (which I still love!) But as I grew older and loved n lost it became the Rose. Especially the little angry rant of the little prince about how all the stars would be darkened if on one of them his rose whom he loved was no more. :'(
This is my first time ever reading/listening to this book (yes I know, but to be fair; I was a "Where the Wild Things Are" fan as a child and wouldn't hear of any other book unless it was Alice in Wonderland 😭) but I must say this was amazing. I tried the audio without the pictures and it didn't make much sense because I am a visual person (which is why I rarely do audio) but THIS. This book was unbelievably good and as a young woman who is about to graduate high school (I know I am a baby to most of you), this awoke the child in me and I loved it. Great book, Great audio!
Thank you so much for reading the original Katherine Woods translation! I believe it is the only one I have found on youtube. The others I have heard are the Richard Howard version, usually the ones with the dark blue illustrations. I grew up with your version and love it so much that the Howard translation hurts my ears! It has been dumbed down and sucked all the poetry out of it! xx
Thank you so much for your recording. It helps a lot to me as person learning English as secondary one. If you don't mind, could I ask you which accent you have among a number of british accents? I know that there are many types such as estuary and posh accent like this. I've practised English with audiobooks so, I am pretty careful which audiobook I use.I didn't mean in a bad way. Thank yooou once again.
yosep Jeon I am pretty standard received English. Not really an accent at all. Boring kind of newsreader English (maybe not as 'posh' xxxx Thank you so much
I was starting to consider rerecording. Then I saw you had posted an advert... Then I thought... MAYBE...just maybe... you just wanted people to click your advert!
WiggleWaggle what advert? I merely made a comment on what I thought of your narration. Would you prefer a video response about how I would go and do it to see what I'm talking about? I can do the first chapter.
Bruno Ilave haha not really. You posted an advert about Lego. But I recorded it as a bedtime story for my daughter and she liked it. I wasn't auditioning for RADA. Just wanted something she could stream. And that is how I write and speak. But I have still taken it on board. I'll make the next one more fluid.
WiggleWaggle odd, all I did was type a comment on UA-cam, you mean they attached an advert to my comment? I just noticed my comment has a "linked comment" notice. I'll look up into this as I never intended to add any advertisement of any kind, my apologies if it did.
No. Sil vous plait is 'if you please'. It simply means 'please'. The boy has been given the wrong attitude here. The boy was a beautiful soul- And it is in fact a dream produced by childhood experience. Don't make him harsh and bitchy.
I listened to this so many time and i still love it! Your voice is perfect for this book, so soothing!
What a brilliant rendition of this story! You have a true gift.
+coordinatefree what a wonderful compliment. Thank you much, that means the World xxx

I think it is great. ages from 10 to adult hood
God Save The Prince!
While listening I imagine Alice Eve was the one reading. Helps a lot.
"Enjoy the Silence"
Thanks for reading and for the upload. I find your reading style odd, but odd is good. Who needs "normal"?
Mike Vieira ooh odd! I don't mind that. Its just how I speak ;)
It could use a slightly more narrative voice. There are unnatural pauses in the sentences.
I was starting to consider rerecording. Then I saw you had posted an advert... Then I thought... MAYBE...just maybe... you just wanted people to click your advert!

Sorry I missed your comment. I really don't know - the book doesn't say
Ok, thanks for checking
It is the Katherine Woods translation! And in my opinion the best version! It is more poetic and beautiful than the Richard Howard translation. xx

hi there
You sound exactly like Naomi Dorrit from LOST. Manchester I presume?
Winchester! Not Manchester. It was a something-chester xxxx (I don't know the actress/character - will look her up) x
WiggleWaggle You DO sound exactly like her, figured it was her. I enjoyed this so much!
I am still tying to find a vid of her talking. She looks hot though so am pleased about that! And thank you xxxxxx
No. Sil vous plait is 'if you please'. It simply means 'please'. The boy has been given the wrong attitude here. The boy was a beautiful soul- And it is in fact a dream produced by childhood experience. Don't make him harsh and bitchy.
