  • Step into the glamorous world of The Fashion Channel circa 1988, when it was just a spark of brilliance nestled in sunny California. In this rare glimpse into its early days, we witness the magnetic allure of the fashionistas as two hosts elegantly draw winners for a coveted contest, their charm radiating like the shimmer of silk under the California sun.
Among the luminaries of this era was none other than Dawson Mays, a name synonymous with the dawn of fashion television. Following the network's journey from the golden coast to the picturesque lands of Minnesota, courtesy of its acquisition by the Cable Value Network, Mays became the beacon of mornings on CVN, infusing every broadcast with his infectious energy and impeccable style.
But as fate would have it, winds of change swept through the industry, and QVC swooped in, claiming the reins of CVN. Yet, Mays's star continued to shine bright, embarking on a brief but memorable stint as the suave host of an afternoon talk show on Minneapolis's very own NBC affiliate, KARE-11, leaving an indelible mark on the fashion landscape and etching his name in the annals of television history.

I remember that Pirie Jones, who was on TelShop in 1987 was one of the original hosts of The Fashion Channel when it was based in California.
