  • In Alberta, Communities and industries are being warned to prepare for possible water shortages in the coming months, as the province battles historic droughts.
    The snowfall across the prairies is a welcome sight, but the situation remains dire after a hot and dry 2023 - and the outlook for this year is no better.
    Heather Yourex-West reports on the urgent need for planning and action to address the looming water crisis.

    Yup, and based on her comments, smith will allocating water to oil companies and have farmers cut back on water. So expectfood prices to increase.

    We've got water for another hundred years, nothing to worry about. And we don't need snow, we need sustained rain fall, 30cm of snow equals 3cm of rain.

      @@EyeSee4.8 I think they CAN predict the weather because THEY control the weather , right after Danielle Smith went head to head with turd blow , we all of a sudden didn’t get any snow ………..and all of a sudden there were wildfires all over Alberta . I don’t know , and I don’t care any more

    As a sidenote to keep in mind. Within the process of fracking, each well consumes approximately 20 million gallons of fresh water which cannot be cleaned and reused it is simply pumped deep down.

    There is an absolutely “ free “ solution to the water shortage or drought problem that Canada has, & in this case is being sadly overlooked.
    The “ beaver “ any place that has a creek, put some beaver’s there & let them go to work, plus, most importantly, give them the space to do what they do naturally. Problem solved !!! Your welcome !

      Not a bad idea. But it's mostly already been done before WW2. Irrigation reservoirs and canals already capture quite a bit of spring flows.

      It’s true. When you cross the Alberta border or enter a national park the feds use their “free” dental program to extract all of your teeth. Trudeau wants Albertans to be toothless. Then he gives the extracted molars to Legault so all the maple sugar victims can chew their poutine again. That’s how transfer payments work.
