Paris May Day protest turns ugly as police clash with protesters

- At least 108 police officers have been injured in clashes across France with protesters angry at pension reforms, the interior minister has said.
Gérald Darmanin said such a large number of police wounded was extremely rare, adding that 291 people had been arrested during the unrest.
Hundreds of thousands have been taking part in May Day demonstrations against President Emmanuel Macron's reforms.
Most were peaceful but radical groups threw petrol bombs and fireworks.
Police responded with tear gas and water cannon.

Sometimes I get the impression that the French people aren't 100% satisfied with their government.

Looking at this THIS IS HIGH QUALITY
Unfortunately no politicians were hurt nor had to take responsibility in any way.
politicians can't do anything. macron or anyone.
french pension system is dying. why?
because france is getting old. why?
Because since 1975, total fertility rate has been negative.
Each year we add more old people and we have less working people.
Solution - extend work span of the active people.
if macron doesn't do it, somebody will else have to. Maybe in 1 year, in 3 years, in 10 years
@@tonikukoc1451 The solution is to dismantle the pension system the way it is, it was never tenable to begin with this model unless the population grows idefinitely which is impossible in the long run. The other solution is maybe to raise taxes for corporations back from 25 to 33% and pay the pension with that? And these clashes are just the tip of a very large iceberg, these clashes are NOT just because of the pension system. Corruption in the political sector in France is somewhat out of control and has been for a while.
@@kenjeknowsbest It is tenable under assumption that total fertility rate is staying at at least approx 2.1 levels. which hasn't been happening in France for the last 50 years.
Extending the retirement age has been long overdue in France considering, when compared to the rest West countries, we had the lowest one.
France already has "effective" corp tax around 35%. Set it at standardized 33% and you have some short money fix that you can play with. but you now also have highest standardize corp tax in whole EU and companies are avoiding us from now on. You caused more damage to the economy in a long term and didn't fix the underlying problem of a pensions system.
Corruption is a enrooted evil of a democratic system.
@@kenjeknowsbestyou see how people react when you just extand the legal age of pension by only 3 years ? How it will react if you simply dismantle it ? It would be a civil war, way worse than now. However it’s true that the french politics are corrupted, it’s true that numerous public jobs are useless and unnecessarily expensive, those are the things that have to change, not a pension system dismantlement.
Can I ask what they have raised the retirement age to?

For those who dont understand here is some example :
- In january macron annouced an army budget of 400 billions (for the next 6 years ), army budget was around 40 billions now they will have 60 billions per year.
And they are telling us than 40 billions is missing for the retirement system.
- During the previous mandate of macron he spent 2.4 billions into consulting firm (mc kinsey)
- The olympique games in Paris will cost us a minimum of 8.8 billions euros.
- Some hard work had a special treatement and was able to retire before 62 years (now 64), for a big majority this have been removed, but the police still retire at 52 yo.
- The work insurance have been reduced if the unemployment rate is low in the country, wich is the case actualy... but for some of us its not that easy to find an other job... macron said once to a guy in street, "you just have to cross the street to find an other job".
- Yesterday someone lost his hand because of a disencirclement grenade throwed randomly by the police, many people have lost eyes because of "non-lethal" weapons used in an illegal way by the police.
- At the begining we tried to make them change the law in peace, answer of the governement was violence from the prolice.
- They used some tricks to force the law to be adopted so the deputies and senators could not do their jobs.
And there is much more... thx for the support coming from all around the world and excuse my bad level of english.❤
Totally
But be careful on the unemployment rate ... they lower it whit fake jobs and formations that lead to nothing
They basically put people in different cases just to hide the fact they are unemployed

The press doesnt think if they are 3 meters from the clashes they will get hurt?
“The people shouldn’t be afraid of the government. The government should be afraid of the people.”
This is EXACTLY why the founders gave Americans the 2a!
A fascist government . Reminds of Mussolinni's end
Neither the government nor the people should fear each other. Fear will eventually fail to control anyone. Governments should respect the people so that the people will respect their government.
Not if the government is chosen by the people. It's called democracy.
@@ohlalaale not a single government in the world was chosen by people. Democracy is a lie.
The cops wouldn’t feel so empowered if they thought the citizens could defend themselves….lessons of history
yeah, you mean like in the US, where the people can "defend" themselves but the cops walk around better armed than the military and they STILL shoot them. Just shut up you ignorant American.
They don't feel it like that. They are feeling only that if they weren't here, France would be a blood bath because the military would join. Also yes, the "armor" of the CRS/Police isn't that powerful. Even a good throw of a brick can make them go sleep. Oh and yes, they have also robbed some grenades used by the CRS to use them against them. And Molotov's Cocktail that burned entirely CRS.
Imagine if they had modern fire arms. Seems any time they protest the government doesn't take them seriously, it's not like they could properly rebel if they ever had to is the thing.

De France naîtra une nouvelle révolution, plus dure que celle de 1789. Une révolution ou la bourgeoisie et le capitalisme mourront.😊

Stay strong to people of France
🇫🇷 ❤ 🇮🇪
Stay strong what? There are more elderly people than children being born. Who is going to pay for You retirement? European demographic is 0.6 means that there are 2 adults on 1 newborn. Additionally human lifespan is broader
@@VoidCosmonaut Dude the money is here, France is one of the country with the most taxes. They just prefer give the money to their friends or to the army.
In january macron annouced an army budget of 400 billions (for the next 6 years ), army budget was around 40 billions now they will have 66 billions per year.
And they are telling us than 40 billions is missing for the retirement system.
- During the previous mandate of macron he spent 2.4 billions into consulting firm (mc kinsey) ...
so no its not only about demography

Dude, what's happening? I'm not understanding at all.
@@ulyssemars222What are the people protesting for tho?
As a french i dont understand how in the UK people do nothing like... WTF
The UK is already mostly under the rule of communism under the european union. They were tricked into accepting it as something that it's not but rather full blown communism.
