  • Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen shares his thoughts on a range of subjects in this interview with Alec Hogg of BizNews.com. He provides straight answers to the questions many South Africans want answered. Like: Will the DA enter a coalition with the ANC after the 2024 Election; Did Mpho Phalatse's challenge for DA Leadership trigger the end of her Joburg Mayorship; Can Eskom be rescued from seemingly inevitable collapse; After being twice let down, will the DA still strike a deal with Gayton McKenzie's Patriotic Alliance; and will his party to turn successful provincial governance into winning votes nationally. Good politicians must be peddlers of hope. From the evidence in this interview, Steenhuisen is a very good politician.

I thought people living in the Western Cape were full of it, and exaggerating about the difference in government and service delivery. Then my work saw me relocating to Cape Town and I couldn't believe the difference. It genuinely feels like a different country here, spoken as a born and raised Gautenger - I wouldn't move back. To think of how South Africa could develop and empower our most impoverished if this same government was able to take the helm is refreshing. After all, it's the poorest of the poor that are suffering the most under ANC rule.

@@KyleKruger-hp1iw Do you know that the dynamic young Mayor of Cape Town, Geordin Hill Lewis (36), is passionate about reducing inequality in his City and creating a more inclusive economy?
He is spending a whopping and unprecedented 75% of the City of Cape Town's budget/ finances this year on uplifting and building new infrastructure and social housing in previously disadvantaged areas of the City such as Kayelitsha, Philipi, Langa etc
This kind of a municipal spend is a first in SA!
See " Budget comparison confirms Cape Town delivers the most for the poor while offering ratepayers value for money ", Daily Maverick/ "Cape Town breaks all time record for municipal infrastructure spending ", Cape Business News / "DA-run municipalities really are best at delivering to poor ", Politicsweb.
The last article compares service delivery to the poor across all of the 9 Provinces, and the DA - run Western Cape comes out tops on every single metric by a large margin!!
The graphs and data in the article are published by STATS SA.

As black South African , personally I don't see the ANC loosing Limpopo ( my province), mpumalanga, North West, eastern cape.these provinces are over 90 percent black and have no ethnic based party and are largely rural.rural ppl tend to not be as dependent on government as ppl in more urban provinces .
In my opinion kzn is also over 90 percent black put the IFP is very prominent and with the help of DA could remove the ANC .
Free state and northern cape are also likely to fall to opposite hands.even Wen their majority black.the rise of independents has really tipped the scale ..
Overall the ANC will lose in 2024.if it gets 45 percent it will get in bed with maybe patriotic allience, all jamah and other smaller party's.
If it gets below 40 it is getting in bed with the eff ..
The DA should learn from it's mistakes and understand it's never going to appeal to most south Africans .and work equally with smaller party's..

This is the huge dilemma to get change in SA. How to break thru that 50% mark. Until that happens nothing will change and politics in SA is a salaried job so we have such fragmented little groups of ineffective parties with no hope of ever making any change in SA but they provide jobs for the leaders and office bearers. Useless politically. So parties like the DA, and others, have a thankless impossible task and at best are doing a good job keeping a check on the ANC as is expected of a good opposition. Any government is only as good as its opposition is how it works.

      THE SOLUTION
The ANC doesn't fulfill its constitutional obligations.
The ANC is far worse than just a "poor" government, it CHOOSES to break down and to destroy. That is why this action is warranted and needed.
Most importantly the ANC incites hatred/violence against us when they say that we stole their land - I checked, we didn't.
It is not reasonable to expect law abiding tax payers to continue with "the winner takes all principle" of a democracy to their own and the country's demise.
Who says we HAVE to be part of this political dispensation? Nobody questions this. It is time to stop, think and QUESTION this.
Nothing and nobody have the right to force us to be part of this self destructive political dispensation.
Approach the courts - convince them that it would be in the best interest of the country as a whole if we control our own taxes (first goal). Justify our rejection of the current political dispensation (main goal).
Alternatively we can just use the constitutional court as a platform where we inform the ANC and public of our decision to control our money and effectively start our own government. Give reasons and evidence for our decision.
(Our money under our control).
Of eerder waarop is n minderheidsgroep in ons omstandighede GEREGTIG?
Dit gaan oor waardes, breek jy af of bou jy.

If you genuinely think that the DA will get the black majority vote, you are a fool. The reality is that race is a sensitive topic, especially politically. Yes, the other parties are much smaller, but the chaos and the destruction they can cause should not be underestimated. They are just as hungry for power as the ANC are (perhaps even more so), and they have no qualms about backstabbing their way to the top if that is what it takes. They've proven it twice now in Joburg. And it would not have made any difference whatsoever if the DA cut a deal with them, because somewhere along the line they would still turn on the DA anyway. The DA can see through their BS completely, and they simply refuse to cooperate with parties who are so dishonest and power-hungry. The ANC and DA both have experienced in governing a country or a province. Now we don't speak about Good or Bad just governing. We are not ready for Instability and great uncertainty as most of these other African countries are facing. We are already crippling or battling with unemployment, high crime rates, corruption and loadshedding and basic services delivery issues. We don't have time for SMALL POLITICS and silly comments of youngsters who are just there to fill their own pockets. E.g. We are not supporting the Springboks it's a racist logo and colour, we support rugby but not the Springboks. Let's put the people first in the name of the almighty and join hands. I really think the time of One Party ruling this beautiful country is Over. It's time for coalition governments and the time is now let change this country for the best. The ANC is looking for a partner who have moral ethics and integrity, respect the rule of law and know how to govern and putting the people first. That big brother is the DA and its moonshot partners. The DA is running the Western Cape SUCCESSFULLY and it looks like you enter another country if you enter the Western Cape or CA. I believe the ANC and DA can take this country from strength to strength and from power to power. If we don't do that there will be alot of policy shift and unnecessary uncertainty and madness in this country. The thiefs is also there to loot as they have loot the VBS bank and fill their own pockets. Pensioners will sit WITHOUT a pension. BE Careful for these Boys. Democratise energy creation in SA. Give the right back to the cities and provinces to generate energy. Let them build power stations, solar farms and wind farms, and sell into the national grid. Get rid of the idiotic centralisation the ANC inherited from the Nats back in 1994.

Coalition Governments are very tricky. Avise should be sought from those who successfully have them asap, incl Israel
