The DA's strategy is irrational, they're hedging their success based on the politics and happenings of the ANC, which is totally outside their control. Is it really more likely that the ANC would form a coalition with the DA than EFF? The ANC is losing votes to the EFF, not the DA, which is effectively the (former) youth branch of the ANC. Culturally, the EFF and ANC are far more aligned than the DA and ANC. They used to be colleagues, after all...

Helen Zille solved the problem the day I informed her of it with one phone call to the officials involved. Subsequently, over several years she never let us down once.
