Loving the new studio, loving the content. Emirates is definitely making a dash for a pilot steal. Seems reduced requirements and high pay is the way of the future for the major airlines.
Charters still fall under Part 121 for United, so the flightdeck access rules remain in place, unfortunately…. Sadly, I might not have the opportunity to have my kids on the jumpseat when I am operating…. If the industry needs more pilots, maybe some concession should be made to allow children to visit the flightdeck? I think that will remain a pipedream for some time….
There are plenty of talented pilots flying lighter but sophisticated equipment and with the quality of their screening, training and overall structures I see no issue with EK adjusting to the reality of free market hiring conditions. For a host of reasons including, safety, living conditions, political instability, BBBEE, career opportunities, etc. SA will be low on the talent retainment food chain and is likely to experience some challenges with pilots and other skilled workers.
Most airlines operate under their standard part 121 rules whether regular schedule or charter. Their FOM's and AOC's would need to include both (121/91) and they typically don't. It's something our politicians didn't seem to grasp whenever SAA or SAX did a military/charter flight. Nobody would actually care but in the pursuit of social media "likes" everyone records everything and self-incriminates when they post their often harmless but illegal shenanigans.
Love the new lounge setting!!
thanks for the video :):)
Good news on Emirates lowering their requirements. There will be many excellent candidates that have an opportunity now.

In terms of pursuits - Always be doing 3 things, one intellectual, one creative and one physical. And NO, you’re not too old 😂
