🤣🤣 The beaver scenario broke me! Had to pause for a while. Great episode gents.
🤣🤣🤣 glad you liked it pal.
Again. This is another excellent episode. I hope we can have that beer next week. Been listening to your cast regarding false ATC. The only place we experienced that was Somalia. But we have had many "new" ATCS giving us instructions. Pathetic, especially in India, lots of training going on there. So it's a lucky packet to go in there every day. One controller cancelling your star, then the next one reinstating the star. Eventually, you need to find out where you are going. but then you argue about what is happening, and you get told to follow instructions? its a nightmare
I think Avixoo is brilliant! I have recommended it to a number of guys 😊👍🏼
Great sesh guys - safe travels!
Kudos to you Bryan , your videos are very helpful
Thanks so much sir. Very kind message. Made my day. ✈️
I highly doubt QR are giving aeroplanes to Airlink. QR need all the aeroplanes they have and more.
Come on Martin, dont stop believing pal. 😉
I really enjoy the Qatar brand as a customer. The Airlink connection is going to be worth watching. I think the whole SAF thing is nonsense. Just like all the electric car targets in Europe, none of which are being met are all being pushed out as the woke agenda loses steam.
100% Al, load of bollocks.
Qatar is great
How does one spell evikso? On the App Store ?
Avixoo - Jean, let me know if you find it.
Planes have wifi without starlink. Planes have had wifi long before elon musk decided to make satellite internet more popular.
yes but its rubbish, slow and expensive bro.
@@BryanRoseveare its free and literally fast enough for anything u might wanna do. And this aint like a expensive airlines i fly the cheapest jetblue available this stuff is just basic man.
Different worlds. You speaking to a South African. We don’t even have starlink in our houses because it’s not available.
@@BryanRoseveare were talking about planes here. Look no matter what region your in if u have the option to get a starlink plane with internet i garantee you there will be a cheaper option available with normal wifi Expensive tech that is not standard is not the way too go if money is of concern. If u have lots of money sure it would be a good option
❤❤❤❤
Loving this
‘In-house’ entertainment systems in aircraft are soon to be a thing of the past! I look forward to being able to watch a movie with uncensored sound tracks, and being able to watch Air Crash Investigation at FL350 if I want to 😂.
I agree Caroline. Although i see enough dodgy stuff in the sim so I will rather avoid air crash investigation 🤣
Straight in approaches still catch pilots out even with all the bells and whistles to manage the profile. You should have a mental model of the vertical profile in your head and use the automation / tools to confirm what is already in your head. Learn your 3 times table.
Absolutely Martin. The bells and whistles aren't always a get out of jail free card.
Great show gents! I prefer the 787 to the 350 in terms of passenger comfort, on Singapore Airlines. And their in-flight wifi isn't too bad either…With the advancements in VNAV, the FMS can assist in making straight-in approaches safer (easier). That said, who hasn't ended up hot and high on a direct centrefix routing at FAOR? 🤣
Thinking back I am not sure I have ever been on a 787. Hope you are well Mike,
Since the Dakar has been in Saudi I've been keen to visit. Went on a short holiday to visit some mates in March. Really impressed with the whole vibe and the hospitality shown everywhere we went. Pleasantly surprised.
Spot on! Springboks playing, the TV’s Dad’s. Non-negotiable. Bokke! Any other time, Cocomelon has priority 👍😀
Thats it Duncan. Dad's TV all but gone except the odd Saturday afternoon 🤣
@@BryanRoseveare 😁❤️
You guys rock. Admittedly the A38o was über smootk.
👊 A380 is just a beautiful beast.
Isn't BAP a german rock band? 😂 Verdamp lang her. Try it. Hoezit from the fly boys in SSW. 🇿🇦🍷☝️😂
Another great broadcast!
Thanks for listening Ronell.
Love your podcast!!!Am a lifelong aviation nutter, but not an aviator. Also enjoy Mentor Pilot, among other podcasts. you guys are tops!!! Aluta continua!!!. Hoping that the weather doesn"t spoil AAD this weekend.
Awesome, thank you Robin! Incredibly kind. Comments like this make it all worth it. ✈️
Excellent show, as always. As far as Starlink on planes. I usually enjoy having no connection to the outside world, a break from the world. As you said, the plus is that the airline can eliminate the expensive entertainment system, saving money and weight. However, I think removing the entertainment system will require re-certification, and as you know, that is also expensive. The other downside will be that the airline will no longer be responsible for what is being watched, opening up a new can of worms. Only time will tell, but I can foresee passenger conflicts in the not-too-distant future because some idiot will be offended by what the guy next to him is watching. The whole of Saudi is changing, and with alcohol slowly being re-introduced, it will be a place to visit in the future.
A great comment! ! Much food for thought!!!
100% Jaco. Hope you are well pal. You make some valid points here. What a time to be alive hey. 😉
Thank you so much, you explained it better than the Instructions
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind comment.
Stunning new studio. Can't wait for discussions with guests!
It is necessary to ban flights in aircraft like the ATR from all over the world because to the extent that we allow a calculated risk to be taken in the operation of this type of aircraft for the benefit of airlines that generate substantial profits from the use of these aircraft, we are condemning hundreds or thousands of people to an unacceptable level of risk of tragic accidents and deaths! The ATR design presents unacceptable levels of fatality risk under icing conditions, because the human factor cannot be used as a buffer to mitigate the risks of an inefficient and limited design like that of the AIRBUS ATR 72!!!
Lekka pod. A comment on the ATR crash. Despite the system being named as DE-ICING, all transport category aircraft are certified in terms of it being an anti-ice system. Operationally the system can be switched on and forgotten (if working correctly) whenever icing is encountered or expected. The need to switch boots on and off to prevent boot bridging is a misnomer from a long past era but is often still taught and practised by some operators. The system however is not guaranteed to cope in "SEVERE" icing. During high workload, like approach prep, the system should have been left on assuming it was working correctly.
100% Al, lots of harsh lessons learned here. Good to hear from you as always.
You're missing something. The crew ignored the APM's 'Cruise speed low' cue, they ignored the 'Degraded performance' cue and they ignored the 'Increase speed' advisory. They let the airspeed decay to the icing bug.
@@marcg1686 100% there was way too much ignoring and non acknowledgment of these warnings that seems absolutely crazy.
@@marcg1686 nothing missed. I believe the accident report will list the mismanaged icing event as the root cause. That absolutely led to the mismanagement of the airspeed despite the multiple missed warnings.
@@macfly10 Point taken. A shame that a fundamentally good design gets trashed because of poor pilot training. The crew's situational awareness degraded quickly despite the APM. A dreadful accident.
Really awesome podcast guys - you had me giggling a few times!
Welcome back guys!!! Missed you 2!
Great podcast chaps... loving the new look of the studio. Had such a chuckle with that Bamboozled!!!

Fantastic guys. Keep it rolling!
Excellent podcast Keith and Bryan - you ran through the almost 54 years we have known each other with such clarity and the impressive ability to remember all those names and events. I can hardly remember yesterday! The kindness you showed people along the way is now very evident, in my case it was thanks to you and Alf I got my first twin conversion on ZS-JKZ. Thanks to for the mention. Trust you will still have many more years to contribute to aviation.
Thank you John. It’s always so cool to hear my dad chat about these stories. ✈️
Congratulations on #200 @Bryan and @Ryan Great episode!
Thanks Eben ✈️
Congratulations on #200!
Thank you Colin. Really appreciate it ✈️
Keith has put so much into this industry and continues to do so. What a proud moment for him to witness and be a part of your continued growth and success. I have really enjoyed witnessing your growth from the early SAX days and look forward to what the future will bring. Congrats to both of you not only on the 200th episode but for being fine upstanding family men and for your contribution to the greater aviation community.
Thanks so much Al. Really appreciate the kind words and your continuous support
Al, you’re a legend. You have played a major part in this podcast. Ryan and I have relied on your support week in and week out. Thanks for your kind words and everything you have done for us. ✈️👊🏻
Simply brilliant!
Thanks Ronell
Nice
Thanks Enock
What an awesome guy. I grew up in Glen Ashley and always use to ride my bike to Virginia airport to watch the students fly, see the odd beachcraft and have lunch at the wings club. Did my school work experience day there when I was 16 going for an introductory flight. After that I got the aviation bug. 10 years later now I’m flying the 320 around Europe. I’m really grateful to all those bullies at the wings club for giving me the time of day and hope to bump into this gentlemen at some point too. Great podcast 👍
Thanks for a great interview brings back many memories. l am the same age as and learned to fly at DWC at the same time your dad did with Vern whom l knew well. I learned to fly for the joy of flying which a did for over 30 years as a private pilot holding both a SA and a German PPL. Kind regards to your father from Michael Hickman.
Thanks so much for the kind comment Michael. I will definitely pass on the message to Keith ✈️
Great episode brought back many memories, regards to your Dad!
Thanks for the kind words Keith. I will pass on the message ✈️
Best instructeur Keith we miss you guys from mairitania ❤

Congratulations Bryan & Ryan - epic milestone - it’s been so gratifying to watch you build this beacon of aviation, which it has become. What a proud moment to have your Dad, himself a doyen of aviation in our country, on this celebratory session. Keep up the good work gentlemen! My very best regards and sincere congratulations and appreciation to both of you. Duncan
Thank you Duncan. I mean it when I say. I would not have carried on with this project without your backing. As was mentioned on the show, mentors are key to success and you have been one of ours. Thank you for everything.
Congratulations on the 200th episode. Keep going
