Tbh , jason was one of the nicest characters. He was the only one nice to her (literally no on else was friendly towards her) from the the begging and then he motivated her to lose weight not because he wanted to date a skinny girl but so she can become an idol which wasn't possible in her current weight class.
OMG YES! He liked her before but this isn't about them dating b/c it is basically impossible for them to date anyway due to being idols, like they say, it's a very lonely career path for the ML (Jason isn't the male lead like I think some commenters think). When I was fat, I liked this guy. We always flirted with each other that's why I thought he liked me too and told him how I felt. He then rejected me and we never spoke with each other again. This is actually my favourite kdrama I knew IU because of that amazing series and she's really the cutest and most talented. I also love how they showed like we should love ourselves the way we are and the way he accepted how IU looked in the series shows that he truly loved her personality more than her outer look which is what matters.💜

I love that after losing weight and having him finally admit his feelings for her, she rejects him at first! Because she worked so hard, she realized how silly it is to do something like that for a guy who has no ambition of his own. I've never had a weight problem mostly because of my genetics. I was bullied in high school back in the 70s for my looks. I'm do believe in people maintaining a healthy weight. It matters especially when you are old but it concerns me when people try to lose weight too fast and do it to be liked versus to be their healthiest person. Also, in Korea as it was back in the 70s and 80s in the U.S. being super thin on purpose was pretty unhealthy.
Just from the clip it did look like he treated her with respect when she was heavier which is important to show. It takes a special guy to go against the crowd and look within the eyes.

with keeping late night chips and ice cream snacking our of my life. Instead I had an apple with milk or yogurt with some cinnamon. And every single day I drank green tea. Of course kept the track of my food and and and the most important... Gym! BTW I was pretty ashamed of my body so started out with doing some exercises and fast tempo dancing at home. After losing 20 kgs I started to hit the gym. Right now I lost 44 kgs in sum! But, our bodies and hormones are not the same. Please go and see a doc or a dietitian first and then set your goals. If you actually watched the whole series, this was such a cute couple. I loved them even more than the main of Hyemi and Samdong. Jason liked Pilsuk way before she lost all the weight, he just motivated her to lose it because he knew it was her dream to debut as a singer, but knew it was impossible due to Korea's strict beauty standards for their idols. At the end they get together, and she starts to gain her weight back.

For anyone who thinks why jason seemed jerk, and iu or pilsuk had to lose weight for him:
this drama is of 2010, also it shows the reality of standards of beauty in kpop for girls. Even though pilsuk aka iu was chubby or fat; jason loved her the way she was but was unsure of his feelings. Pilsuk had talent in singing and writing lyrics but due to her appearance they weren’t ready to debut her. Even her voice was named of another idol student without giving her any credit and that idol had told jason if she only had lose 30 kg she would have become idol too.
When pilsuk proposed jason he had figured out his feelings for her but suppressed it and told her to lose weight until his return in 200 days. He said that to make her in fit shape so she could pursue her dreams in this competitive industry. He knew once she debut; people will fall in love with her voice and later can accept her in any appearance as her voice was her identity.
Pilsuk indeed loosed her weight and gained some self confidence too but wasn’t ready to love yet jason again as she thought he only liked her for her change in appearance and hence remained friends. Later on pilsuk accidentally saw wallpaper of jason’s mobile of when she was chubby and realized he liked her for the way she is regardless of her appearance.
About old pilsuk she wore those glasses to hide her face and wore full clothes to hide her body weight as she was very self conscious and had low self esteem, later with the help of jason, and suzy she gained her confidence, and started loving herself the way she was
