It's more about, how people who are aware of their darkness do not want it to spread to the ones they care about. They do not want the innocent one's in there lives to get caught up in their mess. Or cause them harm from them getting to close.

There are even real locations you can visit that are locally known for paranormal events, such as Edinburg vaults in UK, Ghettysburg battle site in Kentucky, Ohio University in Ohio, a bridge on Interstate 4 in Florida, A castle in the UK, Westley Hotel in California, a haunted 3 story Walmart in California, ect...
