Always fun to see a deck tailor made to beat the meta. The only crutch is the sphinx, but as long as it doesn't get answered the deck's pretty consistent.
Although with the Sphinx, you get to cast a free spell if Gix 3rd chapter resolves before the opponent can remove it after reanimation. So it's got that going for it. Even if you don't have more gas after your first Breach and reanimating the Sphinx, opponent needing two removal spells for the Sphinx is still better than nothing I guess.

Honestly I'm a little sad that I had the Lightning Helix to close out the game because it would have been a true honor to be combo killed by you. I'm also a little sad that I drew the beatdown half of my deck that game because I do have some off-beat synergy in that deck. I think of it more as a burn deck than covoke because I run Ojer Deepest Might and Warleader's Call with the dream of burning my opponents out by casting Call into Deepest Might into other creatures. It would have been cool to have that featured on my side instead. Anyway, thanks for the video and the cool deck!
When it comes to combo deck building, I am almost more impressed by the choice of effective 'connective tissue' compared to the actual combo. Virtue of Persistence is my favorite inclusion in this list for that reason, just a solid card for the entire game plan.
Been loving seeing all the different versions of this deck. So much room to min/max. I like your take on it LVD sort of going all-in on the combo with 3x Skaabs. Gonna give this one a shot!
LVD. Firstly love all the content, once I figure out Patreon and how to sign up I am all in. One thing I'd love to see (especially with combo decks) are games that grind a bit more. They make up a huge portion of matches.
The current meta lends itself to fast games unless you’re playing a dedicated control deck trying to stall things out. Grindy games only happen when two decks trade resources back and forth.
If you like grinding out the opponent you need to build jeskai black. You want access to archangel of wrath but void rend ertai no more lies lightning helix virtue of persistence siphon insight zurgo and ojutai. It's really good at stalling mono red using siphon insight and the dragon that steals their cards to use them against them or hitting your land drops and then you get access to deadly cover up ill timed explosion and path to peril as sweepers everything really feels good in most matches but I have yet to come across this combo deck so I've got more testing to do
Would require a different set of discard outlets that can be used for free the turn you want to combo. Have a different deck with Reenact the Crime, but found this build to work better for the current meta.
That deck makes me feel like playing standard again, as I practically only play bo3 will have to side some interaction with the stack and some anti graveyard hate bullets. Great vid and gameplay as always

Yes and no, while it would help while we're comboing it's not a card we're very happy to draw. So I've found 3 to be a good middle ground. We only need one in the graveyard to be able to combo with it after all.
yeah as much as this is fun to pull off, having been on the receiving end you just spend your time going "oh what's the point". Even a very good deck if it doesn't successfully stop you just becomes useless.

25:10 I believe you could also have hardcast Cruelty of Gix to keep cards in the grave for collect evidence, and put it on chapter 3 to get back Skaab and keep the Breach loop going (also saving yourself 3 life and the hassle of tutoring for another Breach, and putting Cruelty in the yard for extra collect evidence fodder in the process)
After playing this version and the reenact the crime version, its tough to decide on which is better. This version has more gameplan options but i found a lot of the time it is just durdling until you can do the combo and it can come out turn 5 MAX... like i still frequently had games of getting run over by aggro even with all the cards dedicated against it. In this scenario, the combo version wins. However this one seems to be better against slow decks surprisingly. Combo version seems more powerful at the moment because its all based on drawing the right cards and unfortunately, this version has the same issue. Both versions seems to be extremely good vs control though. I use to think that was a hell match up but in reality its actually very easy once you learn the matchup. Just hit your land drops each turn until there is a window or youve stacked enough 7 drops and combo pieces that you can do it 2x in a row and you basically win on the spot if they cant counter every time. You can do the combo at instant speed with reenact the crime which is a big positive.
So many content creators are going through a bunch of loopholes to get it to work with reenact the crime. I get that it is a turn earlier, but how so convoluted! I am a simple man.
That makes sense. I guess since prototype creatures fell by the wayside of the cost of Go for the Throat decreased. Used to run into a ton of Phyrexian Fleshgorgers about in the wilds.
this version stands absolutely 0 chance vs any control deck without insane luck but might be fine against a midrange. To me there is 0 reason to not include atraxa as at least a 1 of and same with jace.
I suggest looking at other Dimir decks in BO3 for inspiration in addition to the cards I mentioned at the end of the video. There are quite a few websites that aggregate winning decklists.
What are your thoughts on picklock prankster and reenact the crime? Slight variation on this combo, but much of it is the same. Were you going with this version to try and blank their removal? On another note, I was thinking 1 copy of "Cease/Desist" might be neat as a way to avoid dying on upkeep xD After milling them out you can just make them draw a card. Mostly for the meme, but it has uses in certain matchups as well.
Decks with Reenact need a much different set of discard outlets that don't require any mana the turn you combo. Prankster misses a few key cards like Cruelty and there's less need for random mill compared to the Squirming Emergence decks, where Prankster has more synergy with Founding. Would rather play Archaeologist if we're looking for that type of effect. Cease/Desist is indeed a neat trick to win right away, although decks with burn spells usually have haste creatures that can win us the game instantly, so I don't think it's needed at the moment.
What would happen if you your opponent has more cards in their deck and you mill yourself out first before they do? I’ve often run into opponents that are running 100-card decks in standard ranked, it’s pretty annoying.
Should still be able to get through 100 cards, but at 200+ we won't be able to Collect evidence enough, so the best plan is to stop milling and hope to attack for lethal while still having some cards left.
Awkwardly timing that cut down on anim pakal meant one more gnome, which meant two more damage. Literally exactly the difference needed to survive the lightning helix. Unbelievable how close these games are and Legend's called shots on "if we draw a cut down right here we have a chance"
A pump spell was unlikely, but if they had it we lose on the spot by waiting. To their credit, that's the advantage of playing off-meta cards. Much harder to predict what they might have when they're not sticking to a stock list.

I mean convoke can do 18 dmg turn 3.. We need turn 5 to combo with a decent draw. I think this has the exact same problems as with enact the crime deck: U lose on the draw to aggro and almost always to control. 'But hey, in the vid i won some games on the draw' Yes but in gold. I didn't see single time turn 2 knight errant convoked for 5 and turn 3 recruiter.
Rank is pretty irrelevant, especially in constructed. I face more jank decks in Mythic compared to anywhere else. Any deck can win with their best draw if the opponent stumbles, I don't really see your point. This deck at least has the tools to beat Convoke even if they do get their best possible hand.
I’m quite annoyed with arena, I wanted to make this deck with lier casting breach the multiverse from the graveyard and paying the cost with conspiracy unraveller. I’m almost certain it should work but for some reason it doesn’t? Does anyone know why?
Lier gives the card flashback which means you can cast it from the graveyard for its flashback cost. So even though the cost is equal to the mana cost it’s different
It would be interesting to see you try and make a commander deck that tried to win the game by getting below 0 life while having something like cloud steel kirin or pact weapon and then casting Repay in Kind or Profane Transfusion to exchange life totals with your opponent. @Magic The Noah has a video titled “Win by losing” that I made and refined a bit and it’s my favorite deck to play now! Very risky if your opponent has removal for the “you can’t lose the game cards” but on the games they don’t, it’s so satisfying to pull out the win.

When they designed Conspiracy Unraveler they likely didn't have Innistrad and Repository Skaab still in Standard due to the different rotation. Otherwise it strongly feels like the type of combo that they wouldn't want to have in the format, hence breaking it. A deck can do something broken, without itself being overpowered.
If Arena had Steam achievements, milling out Mono Red would be one of them

The Bo3 version goes off on turn 4 with Re-enact the Crime. You can probably find some versions of it on untapped.

Certainly considerations, although the higher mana values may not be worth lowering the card quality compared to the cheaper alternatives.

Definitely an option! Felt like we had enough discard outlets, but if more Planeswalkers show up in the meta I would run it.

How does atraxa help you cast more Breach the Multiverse when you've already resolved one and hit the Skaab?

One Singularity doesn't win the game, whereas Breach can get you there by itself.
So sounds like you need similar setup, without the same payoff.
