I'm really considering the Ronde wheelset for delivery to the US. By the numbers, they check most the boxes for me. They seem like a nice all-arounder and light enough to be a good climbing wheel...I just don't see much about them review wise!
@@perrylangis165 There's not alot of reviews but the ones that are available give them top marks. For an all road wheel i can't speak highly enough of them...I like them so much I'm considering getting another pair withthe Kogel ceramic bearing upgrade. They’re more way more agile than I expected.
I have a gravel bike which is more like an all-round endurance bike with a more relaxed geometry and a simple but nice aluminium frame and wonder if I should mount aero wheels on it or if it looks totally dumb. I ride a lot of fast flats and the classic race bikes are too aggressive for me
ONe could argue we should all be riding endurance bikes such as the definition and bokeh and why would the frame material hold you back?, If it where me id go for the middle ground and for the parocurs Ronde wich can be used for gravel as well as road when the moment take your fancy
Nearly one year on are you still enjoying the wheels? I'm looking for new wheels at the moment, and it's between these, hunts, scribes, or maybe Zipp 303s ... It's for a Canyon Ultimate CF SL - so not a gravel bike, but it sounds like I have the same dilemma as you had :)
IMO, alot may depend on where you live. If your road surfaces are anything like mine, a 28mm tyre makes so much more sense than a 25mm. To that end, to maintain the aero benefit you have to have a wide wheelset (105% rule says rim width needs to be 105% of the inflated tyre width (ie. not the width stated on the tyre!)) The zipp 303s look good but are only 27MM wide. The 303 Firecrest look excellent, but different price range. I would get these or the hunt limitless now they do them with EZO bearings, or I would check out STAYER who use DTswiss 350 hubs (excellent) and hand build in London.
@@chrisrebbeck Thank you for the reply. I ended up going all out and getting Enve 4.5 AR Disc(lucky to find a set) with 28mm Schwalbe Pro Ones - very glad i did, they have been amazing so far compared to my stock wheels!
Rich, full disclosure, I sold the wheelset as I decided I should have gone for the Alta as i prefer to run 35MM + tyres. However, these strade wheelset really were incredible for the price - other reviews now say that same. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them. IF I wanted narrow tyres, these hutchinsons would be my choice, rapid AND supple, as well as simple to fit, something GP5000s cannot compete with.
@@chrisrebbeck Really enjoyed the video and your thoughts on this wheel set. Based on your above comment, did you switch to the Alta or to another wheel set? The Strade will also take wider tires (+35mm) due to the wide internal width, was your decision related to weight gains to be made with less deep wheel set?
Yes, I can confirm they have been great wheels, Chris was kind enough to sell them on to me - and I'm still running them on my Giant TCR with 28mm GP5000's. The wheels are one of the few things I don't contemplate upgrading on weekly basis!
Finding it hard to decide between these and the Hunt Aerodynamicists. The latter are cheaper, but don't have quite such wide rims (29mm). Ideally I'll run 28mm pro ones, which I'm sure will inflate wider than the rims, but hey ho. Maybe with such wide internal width, 25mm tyres would have enough air under them to feel cushioned? but I'll be coming from 32mm gravelking slicks that are 34mm in the real world, so maybe not!
@@willmiller1460 do you still have the wheels? How have the hubs been as was considering whether I should custom add the DT Swiss 350 (150 extra) from a future spares point of view on the hubs.
Great vid, just found your channel. Intrigued with these wheels, seem like a great road wheel for a gravel bike? As an owner of a gravel bike and an endurance road bike-making me wonder whether to sell the endurance road bike and have one bike?
Depends on the bikes. My Bokeh is as racey as many endurance bikes so it made sense to do it. If your gravel bike is more towards the mountain bike geometry then perhaps its best to keep the endurance bike as it wont feel nice on road no matter what wheels you put on.
My mason definition 2 is 8kg on the dot with 1x, 44tooth chainring (could do with a 48tooth) and an 11x32 out back (yes all the gears i need round here no big hills)
dunkwilsable they look small as the rim depths are small on both wheels. 30mm would do. They come with the wheels though so hunt look after you that way.
@@chrisrebbeck just ordered a mason bokeh and will come with tubes so was going to buy some valves ready...i messaged you on Instagram :) Cheers for the reply
Nice….I’m running the Parcours Ronde on a Mason Aspect and the pairing has been just fantastic …for the price point you can’t beat these wheels.

And the best bit - quite freehub :)
