Local Anesthetic Options For Dental Professionals and Their Patients

- One of the most stressful moments of a dental professional's training is giving that first injection. Rightfully so. In an appropriately common ground, patients also find the process less than fun. Yet, this is technically the most common procedure a dentist can and should provide and without local anesthetic, time in the chair would be a nightmare.
In this brief overview, Dr. Shaun talks about four types of local anesthetic, a general review onset and duration and which one he uses the most. Since every patient and their dental needs are different, it's up to the clinician to find the one that best suites the situation.

Very interesting video. This now explains why when I've had fillings before, it took me around 10 minutes to become numb after the needle, whereas when I got my wisdom tooth surgically removed last week the anesthetic kicked in around 2 minutes.
Which one would be best for wisdom teeth removal and a patient that has strong nerve along with also afraid to get their teeth pull what would you use
I can take the needle but wats the point taking if if I can still feel pain after 6 shots
We hear this a lot.. many patients choose to see a specialist like an oral surgeon when they need a general or light sedation. Some people find it difficult to get completely numb.
Ask for a different anesthetic. Maybe lidocaine is not the best for you.
There is echo, the sound is not clear.
Thanks so much for your watching and giving your feedback. Filming at the dental office after a long day, it's hard to get just the right sound. Dr. Shaun isn't wearing a microphone :)
