One of the things that improved my turning is checking my tracks just as you suggest in the video 🤙 would love to see a video on the technical aspects of fine tuning your bindings, like you mentioned in this.
Thank you. People should see this because I see many riders who make careless turns and slide that tail. It takes power to carve, but many let go and slide instead of making a proper and nice turn...
Thats all i see on the mountains where i am...out of every 10 riders i see 1 or maybe 2 making proper turns. The lack of technical ability is astonishing.
its just hard to carve man, its not really a choice x') Not all of us can go on the mountain a lot nor even afford a good teacher everytime For lots of people it may be lack of motivation to learn, but a lot more people its not a choice to slide, its just a lack of technique due to being forced to spend 1 week a year on the mountain without being able to afford a teacher
Nicolas's turn, especially backside and transittion from front to back utilizing flex of the borad severely inspired me to the extent I purchesed Korua. I think his backside is one of the coolests in the world along with Sigi (in Sigi's case, his is never fades) . Thank you for sharing your insight Nicholas.
I love hearing this from the man himself! I'm no pro, but I am comfortable with my style, and hearing some of these pointers like chest forward makes me so much more confident and comfortable than having to confirm to the mainstream riding styles!
Dear Nicholas, love those korua videos, thanks a lot!! They got me back on the slopes and fall in love with carving (still practicing, not mastering, but having a lot of fun doing it). I really admire your seemingly effordless and flawless riding style!! I have a question: have you got any pro tip for not washing out on backside carvs (that much) and holding an edge better troughout the turn? I feel I'm trying to apply your tips from this tech talk, but still have trouble holding an edge (or getting the edge to grip/getting more weight or pressure on the edge during the beginning to midway of the turn), especially when the slopes get harder/icyer. Tried tucking the back knee in more but that kinda wears on it quite a bit at times and still doesn't do the trick. Toeside is not a problem at all. I'm currently riding +27, +9 for more edge hold, hat +24 and -3 before that. Any tip would be much appreciated (knowing that without seeing me ride it's quite tricky to give an answer). Have a great season and thanks again for the inspiring clips!
Hi, I know it's not an answer from Nicholas, and i'm not a pro or anything like that, but i did learn from one. When getting into carving i had the same issue and for me the problem was that my weight was off-centre. I didn't get into the heelside turns properly, started to 'sit in a chair' too early instead of just leaning back first and then get deeper. This caused me not to feel stabil and for the back of my board to wash off. No clue if this would help or not, but i hope it does. all the best
@@gergelywertan5326 thanks a lot, appreciate your reply. Sounds like a great thin to try, thanks for the tip! I'll try that as soon as winter season starts here. Can't wait :) have a great winter and fun riding and thanks again
I've always enjoyed the earnesty and strait forward way that Europeans share what they want to express. Because they don't let ego interfere, the result is that they get across what they want to say, regardless of what their native language is, and you fully understand in every nuance of what it is they want to express. I found that with a French girlfriend too. Nicolas does an ultra excellent job of explaining. One, because he has an excellent command of English, but secondly and more important he leaves out all ego and focuses on whats important...getting his point across. I am so anticipating trying my Dart in the next week. Woo Hoo!
I’m trying hard to get close to Nicholas’s technique (riding on Café Racer). It’s pretty intensive on my legs, especially on my back thigh. For how long are you people able to ride when out in the mountains? I’m pretty much done after 4 hours of riding 😮💨.
Hi mate. Used to ride a Saloman Dancehaul (with Now Orion) but I found it too soft and chatter and I am in trouble to avoid some skidding while heel side turning.. So, I'm thinking about trying a Korua but I'm lost about what model should I go. Once I'm not carver proficient I would like to go to a model that helps me progressing. Need something that is accessible cos I just ride 15 or 20 days per season. What model would you recommend. Should I go to an Otto, Transition Finder, Pencil or Dart? (considering that my main issue is holding the tail in heel side carving). I'm 55 years old, 5'9" and 170pounds and ride with backfoot angle = 0º. Any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers.
задняя у него в плюсе все верно! когда крепы в одну сторону смотрят это в плюс, а когда крепы в разные стороны переднее в плюсе задняя в минусе типо так \ / это +15 -15
Thank you Nicolas for the important information!!! Some of these technical facts also applies to surfing!!!!

I pick my next book, based on your shelf. Hold fast, Tweak hard is on the list ;)
Love listening to the people who understand the fundamentals on such a deep level. Dreaming of drawing lines now

Great video. Would love to hear more from the other riders.
We need a book with those advices!

Really enjoyed the video. So sad the ski slopes are closed in my country. My dream is to move to Switzerland...
Thanks Korua & Nicholas for this video, the tips on using the arms at the end of each turn have stepped my carving game up a lot!
Thanks a lot. Great & helpful video!
Awesome video. Really looking forward to more videos like this!

Will most snowboard instructors be able to teach this at the resorts?

Hi Nicholas! What should I do if my shoe is size 12-13 (US) .. (? Do you have such people on your team? What boards do they ride?
Do these basics still apply to steep back country free riding?
