📍 Frank and Nancy met in 1934 in New Jersey. Frank 19 Nancy was 17 years old.
They got engaged almost immediately but in the years that followed they didn't really see each other as Sinatra worked non-stop.
When Nancy realized that Frank had cheated on her with another woman, she wanted to end their relationship, but she vowed that there would be no more. Nancy forgave him and married him. In September 1950, a restraining order was issued against Nancy, beating actress Ava Gardner, who was later married to Frank.

Nancy really was an attractive woman. She seemed like a smart woman too. I think its possible that if Frank was just an ordinary working stiff and not a celebrity they might have stayed together like other average couples. But the temptation and love of women got to him. He probably got married too young and didnt sew his wild oats. Some men never settle down. She said she didnt want him anymore , she couldnt deal with his affairs . Some men like to stay with their wives and have their "cake and eat it too." Maybe he would have liked that. But Nancy was too hurt. You cant blame her.

She chose to be a good mother and good person regardless of Frank's character flaws. It has taken me a long time to see how much strength, self respect and discipline this takes. Sinatra sold his soul to the devil. Abandoning his wife was the first act. The lure of glitter and glam, fame and fortune has been the ruin of many. Nancy was such a great example of feminine dignity. You can’t control or predict what a man does. But you can control how you react. Being bitter and vengeful is understandable and even fun, but it’s best not to let anything pull you out of character. You can regret the situation, but there’s nothing to regret about staying classy. Many people internalize the shameful things others do to them. @TheMorganVEVO Рік тому +2

@@lindseyl5842 Yeah, I agree. I didn't mean to sound old-fashioned. For me, what makes people like Nancy more worthy of admiration is that they don't allow other people to embarrass them. Their divorce will always be known as a loss for Frank, and that's mostly due to how dignified Nancy was before and after all the scandals. I'm definitely not saying that I, in any way, accept or expect Frank's impulsive immaturity in his marriage. I'm just pointing out that Nancy could have easily sold secrets and tabloids to get revenge on him and Ava for hurting her family. But she chose not to. She walked away with her pride, despite a humiliating and powerless marriage. She kept control of herself and her perception, even when she couldn't control anything else. I read Gardner's Biography. She was lovely looking but but not too smart. Hooks up with Mickey Rooney ...and he cheats on her. Hooks up with the horn player who treated her like an uneducated fool...and finally "gee, maybe another famous man will give me a good marriage especially if we drink a lot...yup!" Later George C. Scott beat the crap out of her. No wonder she died fairly young. Sad.
I actually prefer Nancy to the "Stars". She's so solid and beautiful. Less drama and more pure Love.

Ava Gardner was a sweet woman who was sorely treated by her husbands, Mickey Rooney and Frank Sinatra. In his autobiography, "Life's Too Short," Mickey talks of his regrets for the way he treated his young wife. Frank, for all his charity, was a constant womanizer. There wasn't one who could keep him except his last wife at the end of his life. He was loyal to Nancy in that he supported her for her entire life and was a devoted father.

Sinatra was a talented singer/actor. He was also an extremely promiscuous,
hard-drinking man. Ava Gardner was simply an extremely promiscuous hard-drinking
    woman.
James Kaplan in his definitive biography on Frank called her "a beautiful nihilist".
She achieved nothing of value, apart from her endless quest for gratification.
She ruined many marriages, including her own.
She drove Frank to near-suicide. Ironically he made his greatest music, because of his destructive relationship with Ava. Eventually, he dropped her as her drinking and wanton behaviour got wilder. Her excesses destroyed her looks and she died alone aged 67.
Nancy Sinatra behaved with enormous dignity throughout Frank's shabby behaviour.
She never remarried and didn't write any kiss and tell stories about her time with
Frank. A lady of true dignity. Even Frank regretted his treatment towards her.
She outlived both of them for many years.
