I'm forever grateful for this brilliant ballet class series. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary gift of teaching ballet. You're one of the best ballet teachers on the "You Tube" channel.
You ladies are the best teachers I took ballet when I was seven. Your program has helped me immensely. Remember me in March I will be 55. Love you. Skylee
Another elderly person, who absolutely loves your classes. I am 64 and also took ballet lessons when I was a child, up to the age of 15, when other interests took over. I also always dreamed of being a ballerina and now finally I can be. I have been doing your exercises every morning and feel absolutely great afterwards, charged with energy for the day ahead. Greetings from the Czech Republic. I also absolutely love the fact that there are so many of us from all around the globe joining in this. Love to all the other silver swans out there.
As a 65 year old and virgin ballet dancer I started ballet with Silver Swans here in the U.K. a year ago and totally love it. Trying to get as much practice as possible during the Covid 19 pandemic. I enjoy your classes very much as they are fun and instructive. Many thanks to you both .
I love your kind encouraging and nice paced instruction! So many other instructors go so fast and if you haven’t taken ballet it is too hard. Yours is perfect🙏
Absolutely loved this. Had to stop attending my adult ballet classes at the fabulous Topaz Dance School, Garston, Liverpool, where I was taught by the super talented and ever so patient, Miss Amy, because of my knee issues. Two knee replacements later and I'm ready to go again. This is perfect. Many, many thanks to both of you. You are truly inspirational. Brilliant music choices too.
I just love doing these classes. I badly sprained my ankle over 30 years ago. I've had ALL manner of treatments, phsyio, ultrasound, you name it. Nothing really helped. I had a constant background throbbing ache in that ankle. If I walked any distance, the pain would flare up, to the point it would keep me awake at night. Within a fortnight of starting these classes, the pain has reduced by about 90 percent
That is absolutely amazing. So glad ballet is helping you and your ankle. It is a wonderful way to heal on so many levels! Thank you for dancing with us😃🌸
I just discovered your series! I danced when I was young for 10 years and am now 63. I love the workout and you and your mom are wonderful teachers! Thank you!
I am 52 and dreamed of being a ballerina my whole life. I think now, I'll give myself that time. THANK YOU for this video!!!!! I am a new subscriber♡♡♡
My mom and I do these videos together. It has really helped me since I've been unable to take in-person ballet classes since the pandemic. It's also helped my mom since her knee replacement surgery in December 2019.
That is just brilliant that you and your Mum are dancing together - that is what it is all about, and that it has helped your mum is wonderful! Thank you for dancing with us!
Thanks Susan for your new series! Surfing the tube I found you! I did ballet classes when young! I am doing your classes and I feel great! Your mother is a very good example of exercising! Greetings from Peru!
Thank you so much for doing this....and thanks to your mom! I grew up in a dance studio...my grandmother started, and my mother and I continued (all told, 40 years), and danced in many ballets under the direction of Ann Brodie. I’ve not had the opportunity to continue for many years, so my turn out is nearly extinct🙃. I’m 57 and knew I should begin gently, but really wanted to be doing this with someone. You are a wonderful teacher, very encouraging! Your approach will certainly gently work again these muscles so they will strengthen without getting hurt. So glad I found this channel🙂
Thank you so much. This means so much to us. You have a huge amount of dance training, so I am sure your turn out will come back pretty swiftly! Welcome back to ballet :-)
Thank you so much for being so patient with me the beginner! you called out all the do's and don'ts which is very important to ballet newbies as I tend to over- do the move. so happy to have found you guys!
Thank you for being so positive and encouraging, especially as I haven't done ballet before, and body is protesting after 68 years of poor posture. Good to see Mum doing so well. 🤗
Yay! We are delighted that you are enjoying our classes so much, and that you spotted the South African music in there! It's a little bit of our heritage as we were both born in SA.
Thanks for your wonderful classes. I live in Punta del Este, Uruguay. I discovered your videos at the beginning of the pandemic. Your classes are clear, interesting and joyful. You encourage me to practice every day! Thank you. My best wishes.
Thank you so much for these classes. They are beautiful and just what I need. They suit me perfectly. I am in my 60's and only did ballet as a child briefly, so it is wonderful to be able to revisit ballet now in my autumn years. I absolutely loved it and have saved the whole series. Thank you once again 🙏 💖💃
I’ve never done ballet before, so quite tricky following movements, but I gave it a go and loved it 😃 I think I’ll have to look up ballet movement and postures names now . Lovely video, thanks 💜🌈
Welcome to ballet. Don't worry about the terminology, just keep doing it, and you will absorb the terms into your body without even noticing it 😁. Thank you for dancing with us!
I've lost a lot of muscle in my lower legs and now since joining your online classes I'm hoping that will soon be much better and gain some muscle back.
Hello just really needed to dance a little this evening just came back from the hospital. My Uncle Richard💕 is very ill with cancer he’s very sick so it’s been quite emotional day for him and our family he is such a kind man so I really needed a bit of boost . Thank you 🇨🇦
Hi Jenn. So sorry to hear about your uncle and everything you are going through. And we are glad a little bit of ballet can help to sooth the pain. We hope you are OK. Sending you love from London and warm energy for you and your family. Take care 💐🤗
Did this today while in pandemic isolating. Wonderful! I took ballet as a little girl but didn't keep it up. Such a graceful exercise. I'm going to be 67next month. Thank you so much ❤️ Hope you are well ❤️
Just started and am loving these videos. Took ballet as a child and oddly remember many of the positions. Question...am I supposed to do these videos in any particular order? Thank you!!
Hi Melissa, so glad you are dancing with us. With regards to your question of order. There is no set order, each Series is an entity all by itself so you can pick and choose. If you are brand new to ballet, or need a good refresh, we recommend starting with our very first video playlist which breaks down the exercises: ua-cam.com/video/uQ3jVt-PrdY/v-deo.html
Can you do these exercises if you do not have ballet shoes? I have never danced ballet before but I am looking for something new to do and get some exercise.
I found this today as always loved ballet, I am 53 , I found this hard as I don’t know the positions, can you recommend where to start your videos from ?
Hi Louise. Yes, we can certainly help. It might be easier to navigate if you go to our website: www.balletbasedmovement.com. But first, here is a short video with the basic ballet positions of the arms and feet: ua-cam.com/video/a4_T2U0GaCg/v-deo.html And then we recommend you start at our very first ballet video here: www.balletbasedmovement.com/?page_id=364 If you scroll below the video, you will see individual tutorials which break down each exercise. We hope this helps. And thank you for dancing with us!
Love theses classes, started back at the beginning of lockdown then sprained my ankle sadly. Am now back, is is possible to take this class without the adverts?
Thank you! So glad you are back dancing and your ankle is better. With regards to the adverts, they are the only way we can use the music. We cannot afford the music licenses which cost $$$$, but some musicians allow us to use the music in exchange for advertising revenue. I know it is not ideal, but it is the only way we can dance to beautiful music. We do not get a penny from the advertising, but the musicians do. Hope that explains it and perhaps makes the ads less annoying 😝 😊
I am really enjoying your class. Now 80, I returned to studying ballet 2 years ago after not having studied since I was about 16 ( though I have always done Latin and ballroom). I am trying to stay limber during the stay at home, because one loses muscle so quickly at my age. Find your warmup and cautions to tighten gluts, etc very helpful. Question: I started with session 2 and have done 3. How often do you recommend one to do each session if the steps are not new?
Thank you so much. With regards to frequency even when you are familiar with the steps, is entirely up to you. Going back and repeating a session that you know well is hugely beneficial - you can work harder, and focus on the intricacies of the steps more because you know them. So I would mix up the sessions to keep it fresh, but go back and repeat to improve on the steps. I hope that helps.
Ballet Based Movement I liked the way you presented how to do the little jumps . I’ve always wanted to learn that . But I’ve always found the little jumps hard . You guys are awesome 👏. You put so much heart ❤️ into your videos . And so much energy and joy you make , learning ballet easier . Thank you .
I appreciate your series - if I may make a suggestion. Please do not use music with words - it's very distracting from your instructions and makes them more difficult to follow.
Thank you Kristen. Yes, the words do distract and so we are using less and less words as you will see in our most recent series. Hopefully you will find it easier to follow.

I’m having a hard rime lately with horrible anxiety and depression.... due to this fear of the virus , I live in. Toronto 🇨🇦 I’m so scared I feel so alone . Thank you
Hi Jessica, Oh I am sorry you are having a hard time. It is such a difficult time for everyone. The live video would be a bit of a challenge as Mum & I are in different apartments and we are self isolating and on lock down in the UK. We have a new series that is coming out next week which I hope will help. Take care of yourself. Hope you are feeling better.
Oh, such a great exercise thank you so so much in class yesterday in ballet class at the studio I learned Pas De Chat it was very hard to do and we did a bit more travelling i like how you break every thing down I have arthritis in my knee so I can’t jump like the other student in class so yesterday I am always at the back of the class im not very good obviously . Can I ask you a ballet etiquette question I was five minutes late going into class so I waited outside until they finished doing the bar warm up so when the teacher was finished another student and I just walked slowly over to the bar and I took, I was the first in line at the bar because there wasn’t a lot of room and so the teacher called me out and she said Jennifer do you want to lead at the bar and she was kind of l smiling awkwardly and I could hear people kind of giggling a little bit and so I was embarrassed and I said no . I’m obviously not going to be leading ( side note here I’m still struggling a little with the her combinations ) So there was a spot for me in the middle of the bar I felt a little embarrassed struggling with arthritis but I I’m trying to get to class it’s a beginner level class but I just wondered what your take was on this I’m supposed to go to class next Monday it’s already been paid for but I’m not sure what I should continue with this specific teacher or I don’t know anyways, you’re the best teachers. Thank you so much take care from Toronto.
