This channel is the reason I got into mathematics 10 years ago as a student, which ultimately led me to pursue my current career pathway as one of the “sciences”. Vi, you’ve helped shape the person I became in more ways than you’ll ever know, and I just want to thank you for all you do.
Now I'm worried that some pizza chain will start selling Fruit Filled Circley Crusts and Vi will receive no royalties. Quick, Vi, file a trademark application before Domino's sees this video!
My 8-year old son had a blast playing with hexaflexagons when that video first came out. Fast forward ten years and he's in his first year of university toward a physics degree. Thanks for taking us along with you on the ride!
Today I woke up, and noticed "3/14... Isn't that pi day...?" And suddenly these memories of when I was a kid watching Vihart for fun come back to me. I figured, "I wonder if she still uploads?" and came here to happily bring back a slice of my childhood :)
Vihart is not the only person I've fallen in love with without ever meeting or truly interacting with them (I miss you, Lindsay!), but she is the only person I've ever fallen in love with without ever meeting them AND without ever seeing what they look like. ♥♥♥
@@MilesDashing 👀👀 yikes... parasocial much? Like, i get what you mean-- 7 years ago, in middle school, I was crushing on Vi too, but LOVE?? That's a bit much... its a lot much ;;o-o go outside lil bro
13 years... dang... This series is one of the longest things I've continually watched (on or off UA-cam). This might not be the proper forum to express this, but I feel like a lot of my formative years were shaped by your videos. When I was in middle school, your pi videos inspired me to learn more about pi (and tau) which fostered a really persistent love of both math and science that carried through my high school years. In my junior year of high school, you released On Gender, which was probably the first major step in me realizing I was non-binary. Realizing both the ways in which my experience matched yours - as well as the places where our experiences differed - led me to question things about myself that I had taken for granted my whole life. There's not really any good way to properly thank someone for that kind of indirect action - you don't know me, and obviously I know those videos weren't made for me specifically. But they still had a big effect on me and I truly appreciate it.
On Gender was really the thing that opened my brain to the notion that other people can have a different experience than myself. With gender, with race, with liking or not liking mathematics or art or whatever. Sure, I knew that people were different, but I didn't have a framework for understanding those differences and how it impacts people. Vi implored me be empathetic to other people in a way that my upbringing never really fostered.
I think this has been a very wholesome end to a fun series of videos. There's a tinge of sadness, but I think it's better than letting things run for too long.
Happy Vi day!... I mean, Pi day! I remember in math class like, 10 or 11 years ago when my first highschool math teacher first showed me one of your videos. I think that your videos helped me find the beauty in math. It isn't rote memorization, contrived problems, and meaningless busywork- it's beauty, and it's a set of tools to see and understand the beauty in the world. And doodles and hexaflexagons! Now, ten years later, I've got a physics degree and I dunno if I would've were it not for that. Thanks so much for everything, Vi. All the best, whatever you're doing.
Vi Hart is like the TI BASIC programming language on your TI-84 calculator. It isn't super intense learning about maths or programming, it's kinda useless, but also, it helped you get over that hump of misery that is middle school and fostered a lifelong and willing exploration of STEM. Vi Hart and TI BASIC both hold a special place in my heart.
Happy Pi Day, Vi! I've watched your videos for nearly 10 years now. When my math tutor first showed me your channel, it helped the little nerd that I was have something to connect with and view math as what it is....a work of art but also an awesomely fun toy. Even now I'll go back every now and then to binge your channel when I'm nostalgic for a simpler time when polynomials were the most complicated problem I had to solve in life. Thank you for your videos and your dedication to your craft. Hope you eat lots of fruit-filled circle-y crusts today! :)
Love this channel, even if the pi day series is ending, it’s hard to explain but I feel like I wouldn’t be where I am today without your videos, so thank you!
Almost makes the "How many digits of pi can you remember?" competition on my campus seem a bit silly... Happy Pi day! It's always a treat to see a video from you, I may have missed some for awhile but I remember when my family and I found your channel through the Hexaflexagons 10 years ago, as kids me and my siblings loved making them! You definitely showed us that math and geometry can be more interesting than just numbers in a textbook, and that art is allowed to be a bit strange, and those are things I still try to cling on to to this day! (I'm taking engineering right now, but struggling hard with the more recent math). On this pi day I just want to say thank you!

So great to come back to your channel to find you're still making videos. I happened to watch your 'Pi is (still) wrong' video which I don't think I've seen before, and you taught me something fantastic. My birthday is Tau day, 28th June, or 6/28 in US dating. So I guess I know to have a pie instead of a cake this year!!! I wouldn't blame you for stopping the series, but I hope it never ends.
Missed these. 😌
Best Doritos ad of 2023 so far!
Thanks
Happy pi day Vi!
Great video! I loved it!
Thank you for this wonderful video!
This video is transcendental.
Vi. Thank you for everything. Your doodles inspired me to get a Math degree of my own (class of 2019) and I was always excited to see you upload. Also when I wanted to doodle, I usually filled triangles with infinitely smaller circles 😂
Anyway, this was a lovely video, the drawings of the circle, triangle and test tubes were adorable, more maths really should be taught in interesting, engaging ways like this.
Good to have you back!
Vihart!!!!! I still think about you often! I love your videos and some live in my head rent free. I still go back and watch some. I try sharing with friends but no one is ever truly interested.
Beautiful. The Wario of Pi Day videos 😭
Hey you're back! 😊
We miss you
