went here last weekend... I really wanna hit that full jump @ 5:28 - only been hitting the half jump... anything special to keep in mind there?...because the jump at 5:44 almost had me Endo-crashing on the first attempt to hit it
I'll be honest and say that if you're having trouble with the table at 5:44, then you really shouldn't be thinking about hitting the triple at 5:28. That triple is a big jump with major consequences if you mess it up, so there's absolutely no reason to rush into that. The table is a little strange compared to most of the tracks around here, because it actually has a decently steep lip on it and isn't built like a ski jump, which I like but it can throw people off. I don't know if you've ever ridden bmx jumps but the same technique applies, rely on your momentum to get you over the jump, and let the bars come up to your chest as you hit the face of the jump. You shouldn't be on the gas when you're going off the lip, you should be absorbing the jump with your body and using your body weight to control how the bike flies, just like you would on a bmx bike since you have no throttle to correct with. Watch what the pros do when they hit a supercross triple in the middle of a straightaway, they know they have plenty of speed, and as a result they jump in somewhat of a crouched position as the bike moves toward their body. Don't look at what they do right out a corner, that's an entirely different scenario. You should be leaning forward and off the gas at the very tip of the lip if you're doing it correctly. Now, granted that jump has been getting a little bit of a kicker at the top of the lip the last few weeks, so if that happens don't be afraid to change your line up a bit and hit a different part of the lip that hasn't been blown out by everyone else. Hope that makes sense and helps a bit.
I have started to see what you mean about momentum/bars coming to the chest and having more control in air. So are most jumps built like ski jumps, but sometimes the ones that throw people off have steeper lips and require more momentum absorbing/control mid air?
Essentially, yes you're correct. Most tracks build their lips to be more "ski jump" like, just because it's generally safer for the majority of riders. I kid of understand that side of it, but I also think it's important to have things on a track that challenge riders and help them progress, which in turn means that not everything can be super safe/easy. I'll be out there on Sunday if you want to go over a few things in person.
485Josh Thanks man. I agree with that challenge part. How was Diablo? I spent both Saturday and Sunday at Porterville Mx for the first time.. I’m thinking Diablo or Argyl this weekend. Club moto is challenging I think..dt1 and porterville are near me so I can go there more easily . Lmk if I’m missing any good tracks in those regions
I'm gonna be up at prairie city racing this weekend. I think you pretty much have all the tracks covered near me, I don't go south a whole lot so I might not be familiar with all of them though.
Awesome track and your riding improves with every video. Thanks for the upload
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
nice riding. How are you able to ride at Diablo? I tried several months ago and seemed Private, gates were closed
