I have watched this series since my 20s. These people are my peer group so my life parallels theirs and I am very excited to see how their 60s are going.

I'm a year older than the "children" in this series, and only discovered it ten years ago. I watched the two entries in the American version, and would be curious to see the Russian and South African ones as well. I was disappointed to hear that Suzy had opted out; I thought she had accepted it as a sort of duty.
An hour long interview with handheld mics. Kind of amateurish, especially with Apted's sprained wrist. Do they not have a sound guy at Lincoln Center that knows about wireless lav mics?
May2020: I have just watched Episode 1 (of 3) of 63-up, and can't wait to see the rest. I've been watching since 21-up and went back to find the first two films then. But I really wonder how the participants are reacting to the global pandemic. You'd think the 2008 crash and global climate change would be the most momentous experience in their lifetimes, but sadly, not even close to how earth-shattering is our current situation. The only aspect I found irritating is the dismissive attitude the original filmmaker had toward the girls. Each boy is named individually, but the three girls are lumped together as "Jackie and her friends". As if girls aren't essential in the hope of "the future of Britain". Seriously? More than half the population is female. Misogyny alive and well. (Apted mentions it in this interview. 1964 was still a very sexist time, but it sadly hasn't changed much, not nearly enough).
Why does that Fourneux or when did he get his stutter. He sure didn't. Mummy says .... Then later ... Will those stories ever be told as truthful and released for us also. Weird.

Rest In Peace, Michael Apted. The series chronicled the lives of my generation in a changing Britain. It feels like the end of an era.
Mr. Apted so deserves a Lifetime Achievement Oscar from the Academy for this extraordinary series alone in addition to his entire film career.
