It has been some time since I last purchased a new set of irons, been struggling with this decision as I gear up for this season... Found a half dozen reviews on this topic prior to stumbling onto this video and have to say this was by far and above the most informative and believable review I have yet to see comparing these two excellent choices. Non-biased, authentic real-life usage and data to lay it all out in sensible categories, not too short, not too long, just nailed it... Said another way, YOU DA MAN! Subscribing...

Your video is SPOT ON!! Ive been gaming the Sim2 Max OS irons since August of 2021.
Loved the way the STEALTH irons look for sure, but considering price point and distance gained, I will keep my Sims. Paid $947 for 4-SW. Bought the driver used but almost new for $399.
I couldnt be happier. Hcp went from 19 to a 9 in a year almost. Sold my SPIDER putter for a EXO INDIANAPOLIS. More headweight has given me better distance control on my putts.

I hope that come out on top in the forgiveness category over the Rouge Max OS, Ping G425 and Cleveland Launcher XL because I do love the look - although the Rogue is no slouch in the looks department either. Too bad they do not have a SGI Stealth OS version too. Still though, I can’t wait to hit these. Nice evaluation as usual.

I went 2 weeks ago for an iron fitting (switching from players irons to game improvement, because who doesn't want to make golf easier?) and it was between the Stealths and the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro. Ended up going with the Stealths because they were just better all the way across the board for me (dispersion, ball speed, distance, and even for me were on par or better than the Mizunos on feel). Definitely agree with your review, great feeling, consistent, forgiving, great looking set, and I'm looking forward to getting mine in so I can go give them a true test!

I am looking for some GI clubs as well. Did you happen to try the Callaway Rogue Max OS, Ping G425 or any of the Cleveland offerings? If you did, how did they stack up? Either way I'm with you on making golf easier - a little anyway.

@@Alan_Edwards The only one from those that I tried were the Pings, which I REALLY liked the look of. They look great down by the ball. The sound/feel just wasn't for me and the Stealths beat them on stats (although the Stealths are less lofted). For me though, there was just no reason to give up the extra yardage when I really wasn't sacrificing anything with the Stealths (like landing angle, ball height, etc.).

    • @Alan_Edwards
      @Alan_Edwards 2 роки тому +1

@@ChuckHenryII Really? That is a little surprising. Everything I have read/heard says the Ping is THE most forgiving. I only recently added them to my list since I have owned some Pings (i20) and was not thrilled with them and not a huge fan of the look - don't like the Ping notch. Do love the look of the Stealth. I hope I have the same experience and end up with these in my bag....or the Rogue. Thanks for the reply sir.

I just picked up a used set of the Sim 2 max, couldn’t be any happier! Got a 5-P,A,S! They are very forgiving and buttery smooth when hit right! I was hitting my 7 iron 200+ feet at my fitting! Tried them on the course today, were amazing as well and was hitting my 5 iron farther than my buddies drivers. Saved a bunch of money by not getting the stealth’s although I did like how the stealth’s felt at the fitting and if money was no obstacle, may have been my choice. Granted I require a +1 length and a stiff flex, so getting a new set adjusted would’ve been more time and money, while the used set was ready to go right away! For now the sim 2 max serve me perfectly and I am in love! Also, I don’t know why everyone says the sim 2 max are ugly, I think they look super cool!!

Would strongly encourage you to try the PXG Gen 5 irons. I gained 2-4.5 mph ball speed compared to Mizuno JPX 921 forged and cobra forged tec. Pair that with the $269 for extreme dark edition heroes price through family and any upgraded shaft included in that price and you have pretty good value there.

@@LetsPlayThru The Cobra Forged Tea was the most interesting club release of 2021 in many ways IMHO. I think they truly did something special and as a game improvement irons, nothing else came close.
The others that I liked a lot was the Callaway Apex TCB. Branded as a tour player's club I found them to be extremely comfortable, primarily because they have traditional lofts. Yes, you lose on distance, but you gain on just about everything else. And the forgiveness aspect is still there. I think they are by far Callaway's best irons that they have ever made, IMVHO. I actually think you might enjoy them.

I think it might also be added that getting fitted into the Stealth might be a bit easier although there are probably still enough Sim2s in stores right now but the numbers will wane over the next few months. After that you are going more into the used market for the Sim2s which may or may not fit someone if they aren't a totally standard type of hitter.
Surprisingly, for me at least, I switched from the Sim2s to a set of P790s earlier this year. I liked the Sim2s but for some reason never hit them as well as I thought I should. Maybe i took the 'forgiveness' aspect too much for granted but for some reason I just never felt completely comfortable with them. I picked up a set of used P790s for my son and one day decided to try hitting them instead of the Sim2s. For some reason I hit them much better. So my son, who is pretty much a beginner is hitting the Sim2s and I kept the P790s. I hit them well, really well. Not quite as far as the Sim2s but more consistently and more in line with my gapping between 3H and PW.
For the first time in almost 25 years breaking 80 with some consistency is a real possibility. My last five rounds have been sub 85 and I shot 80 once. For a single digit handicapper that is a 'big deal' thing but for someone getting back into the game after a 20 plus year layoff I am pleasantly surprised.

Thanks Andrew and great question. In terms of looks they players irons are going to have less offset and a thinner profile. They may not be as long or deep either. In terms of feel, it's going to give better feedback so you know where you struck the ball. In terms of performance, they are going to have better workability to move the ball left or right and likely will be easier to get the club on the ball in tough lies like deep rough. They are generally going to have less distance and less forgiveness though.

Great honest review! The Stealth just looks so much better to me. Do you find an issue holding greens with the 7/8 irons given their jacked lofts?
I took my old set of RAC irons out last week and although they were 15 yds shorter per club than modern irons, I kind of liked being able to hit mid irons at the pins and get some stopping power.
I think TM are doing a good job with value. 4-PW are working out at £840 here in the UK, around £100 cheaper than equivalent Ping and Mizuno.
