Southern Divide 700km Ultra Race (Sept 2023 First Finisher)

A great 'little' 700km mixed surface ultra race across the south of the UK, from Land's End to Rochester Castle, Kent, to end the season. The gravel was probably better suited to an XC mountain bike or at least a beefier gravel bike, but with the tarmac stretches in there too, my ORRO Terra C was ideal and got me through it without too much hike a bike. Fantastic event, I'll be back at some point for sure!

Great ride, was a gravel bike a good choice as im thinking of this in spring on a gravel rig.
Whats in the calendar for you next year. Chapeau

Thanks Dan! Yeah I'd go for a gravel bike. About 65-70% of the surface is on tarmac but about 65-70% of the time is spent off road, so it's a toss up between the advantage you get of the versatility of a gravel bike Vs the speciality you get from an MTB. I'd go Gravel but with as bigger tyres as you can fit on your bike

... also, not entirely sure how the calendar is looking just yet. Certainly focusing on the 5th and special edition of the @PanCelticRaceSeries but may have some other events/challenges in there too. How's yours looking?

Aaaah, water and mud, I hate it even when I hike, not to mention when I bike :D Seems I'm not an ultra racer, but I kinda knew this ;) I'm more of a leisure biker :)

Hahaha, it really was proper wet across the bogs on Dartmoor! Got a lot less wet (couldn't say it got dryer) after that 😂😂😂
