The possibilities are so massive can wait to see what the future holds for this game. I feel God Howard delivered on his promise. Although it feels much more like FO in space instead of Skyrim.
What would be cool is it they add ships that carry you ship and others in them and even 1 person "space cars" that can be in your ship or attached to it
I am looking forward to a settlement focused DLC, which I am sure in in the works on some level. I’m hoping for a Solomon Coe homage that allows for you to create a new settlement, and from there you will have the option to set up a form of government and open it for public habitation and just like that you’ve got the foundation for a new Freestar or a pirate outpost or a pleasure planet filled with casinos and spas or whatever. I’m not so sure that they will want to go into a full sim sort of thing, but maybe a taste in that flavor.
We need spacestation buildings to be included in the dlc. Makes no sense to have small landing pods that don't do anything but take up space. Why not use them to transport small cargo ships back and forth to spaceports? and vehicles as well with garage builds to park them in. But yeah, building settlements that look like and are large as those Elon Musk concept pictures would be cool.
I had flashbacks when I saw the floating structure bases in Fallout 4, this does have worlds - PUN INTENDED - more potential! I'm researching outpost items atm and can't wait to try something like this!
Crazy how absolutely few items there are in the Outpost system, and how unintuitive it is to use, considering they have almost 10 years of experience doing building systems. "We'll get more in DLC" isn't an excuse for it not coming with the launch version of the game.
You've really done an awesome job; especially since you did all of that with what little we have available atm! My single outpost has everything out in the elements lol
I wanted ways, just to make it feel enclosed and like a real outpost. So I just put the big storage containers all around the border, and any gaps I put windmills or turrets.
Oh hell yes I had no idea you could use double four-wall habs like this, thank you! Great tips. Definitely agreed on the lighting, as well wanting a hallway type with windows. Really should let you build a glass hallway in the style of the hyrdoponics habs or something.
Nice Build! Plenty going on. One shot showed your Radar on the dirt (at the beginning), but I presume you will move that onto a roof (your preferred position) at some point. Keep it up!
The terrible thing about the outpost system is how minimal it is, we don't have pieces to put together structures with which is terrible, we only have a select amount of prefabs and limited amounts of people we can even put at our outposts we have no means of commerce such as having our own merchants or even a kiosk that would let us buy and sell at the outposts itself and it really does feel like a downgrade in many ways to Fallout's settlement system, meanwhile ships can have beds, benches and all your companions if you spend time on it and that makes it easier and more worthwhile to invest time and resources into specializing into you only really need outposts for resource gathering and it becomes painfully clear that it was a rushed and barely flushed out system by the time the game saw release.
Could not agree more! Fallout 4 settlement building system should be the standard other Bethesda games should aim for. FO76 base building was garbage imo. Starfield is “okay” but lacks so much build wise. Fallout 4 you had a ton of build options from the get go. Just gotta wait for better mods or dlc sadly 😕
It looks amazing, truly. A tip for bathrooms tho if I may, that I have found to look more natural. Build two hallways and build your bathroom there with a corner office wall for toilet privacy and put the sink on on the end of the hallway interior. Only downside is on the outside of the outpost the double hallway looks like it’s just sticking out with nothing to support it.
Yay! The lighting really is dodgy. Winds me right up! Great build buddy! And as if I didn't have enough questions to answer you stick my face on! Haha I jest, you're all welcome to ask whatever you want :)
The biggest problem with outpost builds is they don’t go with you to the next game life. It’s a fundamental change to Bethesda’s gaming model. And I think it’s a real shame.
There’s a point where you don’t need to go to the next life. I beat the game 2 times then saw no need to go to the 3rd life. If you get married in the game you also gain 15% xp for 20 minutes each time you go to sleep with your partner. The game seems to be designed to not go into the unity after a certain period. So just keep your artifacts and don’t go through the unity after you get where you want
You can form a perimeter wall by putting hab and adjusting the height then use passageway between the hab to form the perimeter wall. I think that is most economical vs the wall height trick with storage boxes or even the table stacking.
I think the lighting is dependent on the room you're in, if it has a lot of windows, the game simulates the outside lighting so it doesn't look weird looking through the window, but if it's an enclosed space then the game fills it with bright lighting and if it's the air lock rooms, the game changes the lighting to simulate a dark room. Thing is, when moving from rooms the game quickly changes lighting so it looks bizarre. Very cool outpost, hopefully Bethesda expands on it more. I didn't get to do much of it in Fallout as I was always restarting a playthrough to check new mods (I'm on Xbox so adding new mods are probably gonna break the game unless I do a new save file). I'm trying to level up ship building and outpost but the outpost one is harder as I don't dabble in it much, I've only built one on Earth where I live and another one in a place I found from a video online to do some easy resource farm.
I know you're using an unlimited resource mod to build but for us Xbox players, when build an outpost can materials be pulled off your ship's cargo or do I need the materials on my own inventory?
i would like to see a built city type deal filled with npc who just do thier thing like a sims sorta thing, riots, npc stealing , you know like the npc interacting with each other etc
If you like builds you should try City Skylines. The game is beautiful, challenging and addictive. This looks great btw. All i want is to build a settlement in Starfield and this has that settlement feel to it.
Dam until you mentioned having unlimited build limit I really wondered how the hell you built so many outpost corridors!! Those little suckers take up so much build limit even compared to other stuff although they are so much smaller
Hi Curtis I noticed u r just clicking & BAM! everything is the correct height & u are not fiddling with anything. I need help! I'm trying to build a base in a volcanic crater BUT for the life of me I can't get my landing pad (the big round) OR the small square 1 to raise & lower where I place it. I'm on PC & using an Xbox controller but even the keyboard shortcuts don't work. I'm about to just dump base building & say the hell with it.
Wow this is amazing, I didn't know you could build on top of each other like that! Now if only you could get those designs without thr 4 wall hab... it would be even more perfect 😁.
@@whatsmyname208 Use the double wall structure (this is a two-story building), make sure to put the bottom wall on the structure closest to the floor so that the top wall can be used to place a structure on top of the one you put down on the ground =). Hope that makes sense.
Is there a way to fix where my outpost aren't showing up labeled "outpost", it's showing up as "Landing Area."? Not every outpost, I'd say half. It's annoying cause I have to bounce around multiple "Landing Area's" to find my outpost on that planet.
If you notice my buttons change when I rotate items, I have a an xbox controller that I switch to whilst building. As rotation on keyboard and mouse is a lot of hassle.
I got hook to building outpost that I forgot the main quest. Just annoying we don't have walls and gates. Also if you miss getting the skills earlier on. You can't make inter system cargo links.
Wish they would have used more of what they learned from fallout 4. We can build outpost on planets but not settlements is nuts I hope they add this in... No foundations or nothing. Boxes have weird snap points, hopefully they clean it up.
Every time i try to build an outpost my character just dies out of nowhere in the middle of trying to figure out how to even build one. Happens while im in the outpost building editor every time. He just falls over within a minute or two of attempting to build so i just gave up on outposts. lol
I love how limeted the setelment system is and how few distinct options were made for the game souly so that what players make wont outshine the "hand crafted" parts that tod boasts about, that of they didnt have time to make all the stuff as they promised (wonder which one is the case) yet people are already making stuff like this that easily compeats with the "hand crafted" stuff in the game xD
It's kinda disappointing that Fallout 4 and probably FO76, but I never touched that trainwreck, had so many great building materials and options and things snapped together nicely even without mods... And despite outposts being so heavily referenced and necessary for the game, it's so bare bones that it's almost funny. And to add to the woes that is ship construction, too... I tried your ship layout optimization strategy and if I deviated even one module differently in another place it turned the ship into a 4D maze. Because apparently we can't construct inside ship habs and have to let the game roll the dice on putting ladders and doors.
Bethesda went really light on outpost here since you can't make full fledged settlements even with their own artillery. Because I guess a lot of people hated settlements, so they went really light here. Another thing that irks me the most is that home decorations (aka homes in cities) do not come with optional furbished decorations that you can buy as well. Yes it is okay to build everything but if I am renting a penthouse (dream home!) that is paid every week, it should have some nice decorations. Ironically Crate being the cheapest, has a bed.
Outposts were 1000% a "throw it in there" last minute half-baked idea that they only added because of how popular it was in FO4. If only they spent more time on it.
That's what gets me.... Settlement building was very popular in FO4, you'd think that system would only get better right? They pretty much ruined it in FO76, it wasn't a good system at all.... And they had a chance to do it again but better with Starfield and again, as you say half baked last minute throw in. I just don't understand why they'd abandon / neglect an aspect of their previous games that were popular and very much liked. Outposts could of been Fo4 settlement 2.0, it could / should of been fantastic, ah well =/
What i want is npcs to do crap...i cant even get them to interact with the crafting stations in the hab, they just stand in the corner. At least in F4 they would sleep and bang hammers on walls to make it seem like they were doing things.
Outpost building was a complete afterthought, like they gave this part to some random employee and said go. Fallout 4 was so much better build wise, lets get back to that
We need DLC building pack with more unique styles habs etc. or contruct your own with walls and ceilings etc.
Yeah I cant wait for mods or more building dlc, I’m itching to get super creative with outpost builds 😕
I'm sure that's in the pipeline lol.
And bathroom modules please

i wish there was a dlc to build/have your own space station
Very Nice... That, too, is my ultimate goal for this game; to have a city-size outpost.
I really hope theres a dlc where we can make our own starstation. Or perhaps a huge M class ship, where you can only be in orbit
Same!
What would be cool is it they add ships that carry you ship and others in them and even 1 person "space cars" that can be in your ship or attached to it
If we could use certain parts from the ship builder, we might be able to make hotels or apartments with more decorative flair
I am looking forward to a settlement focused DLC, which I am sure in in the works on some level.

Nice work. I really like the extra people / stormtroopers, not just a paltry 2 or 3 people. Can I ask you to post your mod list / load order?
You can build walls using cargo crates and foundations.
Can you build 1 hab module and set it up like you want it. AND THEN copy paste the whole hab with internal setup? Apartment complex.
Absolutely didn't realize that the double height habs had stairs inside lol. That makes things much more interesting.

Hire crew members using the crew bench in the warehouse menu.
How do you actually get your ship to loand on the landing pads? everytime I get to an outpost it always lands somewhere else.
Hopefully for dlc the will add spacestation builds

how do you have guards is this a in game thing or a mod
What I want is how you got guard posts to assign crew to
This is so incredible!

Question- Can you enter console, click on an item, do typical operations like setpos y, modangle z 45, or set size, or placeatme, clone?
how do you raise and lower buildings like he was at 5:21
Click place but then dont place it yet, as there are options to raise and lower the buildings
