Also, there’s a channel called incense dragon that is helpful and they recommend using the woody part of the lavender plant. I wouldn’t have thought of that but I went out and cut back what had dried out over the winter thinking it probably wouldn’t have much of a smell, but once I ground it up, it smelled wonderful. Just thought I would throw that in there. ❤
Thank you! ❤❤❤ I’ve been doing the same type of experiment. I mostly wanted to only use herbs that I grew, but I did end up ordering some makko powder and sandalwood powder. The makko definitely works to bind it. I also had some gum Arabic on hand and I’ve added a little bit of that. Been trying to figure out how to make “smudge bombs”, there is one company that offers these and they kind of go off like a smoke bomb. I am suspecting they contain saltpeter because when I purchased some and tried it out on my incense it did the exact same thing. Acacia Gum mixed with warm water and glycerin works great as a glue! I use it on these giant smudge sticks. I make to glue on the decorative parts and then they can be burned without any toxicity. I came across your channel because I was trying to find out why I couldn’t put these in a food dehydrator and since I see that you are, I’m gonna try it lol! Everything I’ve come across has said to not use anything for the drying process, but nothing has given a reason why not.
Do you have any updates on your incense making adventures? I've been making them for a few weeks now and sometimes they stay lit and sometimes they don't. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... so I'm researching on UA-cam.
We had a problem with them staying lit as well. I just ordered a book called The Complete Incense Book. I’m hopeful that’ll help and I would love to give it a go again. I’ll update soon!
Great video. Nice project 👍👍😊🤗
