Sadly no you cannot add the same gear cards many times on one character. In actual fact, you can only have one of any given gear card at any one given time. If you notice, when you get a repeat gear card, it just stacks up on top of the other one. You can't have two mutated bone spikes and have 30% self heal on special one, that would make the game unfair, and make 25% self heal on special two redundant and obsolete. Cards that give increased crib chance stack up tho, increasing crit chance, so that works, but they are in fact different cards. Yo can increase your life and that will increase your 15% self heal from 8,000 to 10,000.
I had a screenshot somewhere of one of the guys who were in the top ten on the leader boards and he had 2 ibis sticks (if that's the name can't remember off top of me noggin) on two different characters, I thought that perhaps once maybe you had evolved the gear fully that you could get seconds (in this case 3rd's and 4th's aswell)

Blocking reduces damage cards isn't useless unless it's with a fully upgraded static and have gear cards with heal self because his blocking ability allows him to gain more power and also is immune to power drain so he will be ahead with 2-3 bars of power in no time flat
I Had Red Son Deathstroke, Batman, Green Lantern, Scorpion, Killer Frost, Doomsday, Zod, all maxed out. Had to start a new account. Lobo is one of the strongest. At level 16 he's like the same damage as my level 30 Red Son Superman.

How is blocking gear useless I equip Mos zod with 2 blocking gear and 1 critical and he barely takes any damage blocking and if he is last one standing he can block and take out complete team online

Out of 24,000 damage on Red Son Deathstroke's first special move, 22% is only 4,800 and change. In my opinion, I prefer other cards, but I'm glad you get use out of what you have. You stated that critical gears are good, yep but blocking gears are also really good which is why I recommended their channel, obviously I would of sended you the link if you have one.Has your mind changed since you say you've learned a lot? How would you organize a team?
I've never used blocking gears, although I've heard they can be used to cut damage in half. I'm into damage and healing along with technique. I also like plays on power generation and unblockable critical hits. No offence taken. Some of my main characters I like are Killer Frost (both of them, usually together) Scorpion X, Zod, Red Son team (Deathstroke, Green Lantern, Batman) if I had Wonder Woman I would stick her in there too. Doomsday rules with his swipe combo, and those are pretty much the characters I use, or used before my account got BANNED! Total crap. I think I've made videos on techniques for just about all of them. Check em out!! I know about that channel, and I have watched. They are great but they play out scenarios for people who have 23,000,000 coins with maxed out gear cards. I try and make videos for the ordinary guy who may not have a hacked account, strategies that people can do with timing instead of 4 star level 10 gear cards.
