I’ve waited 4 years to see this update done fully to the extent you did :D loved the video and SO SO HAPPY to see the tree doing amazingly well ^.^ can’t wait to see the progress on it this year!!
Almost every bonsai practitioner: Well that was enough root pruning for this repotting. Nigel: min 4:23, Okey and now I can begin the root pruning. I love how bold you are Nigel!
This exactly! I can count on seeing one more trim at the end of a Nigel repot "to shorten" the long roots even though he has already taken off 75-90% of the root mass. I think Nigel's boldness is one of his biggest strengths but also sometimes his weakness. It's definitely inspiring on how to be bold
I’ve just bought two new lemon trees that I’m going to try and bonsai. I have just watched all your videos on your lemon tree. So informative, I have taken notes so I can attempt to get a tree as good as yours is. Thankyou for sharing.
Great surgical procedures from Dr. Saunders. I always marvel at the technique that the good doctor uses in working on the roots of the tree. Finished tree in pot turned out really nice.
Nigel Sir,I was waiting for this video since the last 2-3 yrs since you repotted this Lemon tree a long time before. This famous lemon tree is my favorite tree in your possession.I started watching your videos after I watched you root pruning it.Great video as usual, just loved the way you went in details about almost every root! 👌
Hey nigel im from Iran and im watching this video in the middle of the night, and I LOVED IT. I just wonder how amazing you are and how amazing what you are doing, its absolute art and i love it. Just hope that you continue what you love and enjoy it and share it with us.
I learned an absolute ton from this video!! Thanks a whole big bunch! You Answered questions you didn't know I had!😊The roots are neat on that tree as is the truck.
Watching you root prune both thrills and terrifies me! Then I look out at my baby trees and think "you don't know what you are missing!" A lovely tree, but it really shows how slow clip and grow really is to get a believable tree. Cheese makers think they need patience to age a cheese for 8-12 months, wine makers think 5-10 years; Nigel knows he needs 1-2 generations!
Just when I thought Nigel couldn't get any cooler, he throws out an offspring reference! That's awesome. Keep up the good work my friend. You, Gotta keep em separated!!
Ive been been watching you work on this tree for years and really enjoyed the update. The trunk, flow and branches are developing in a way I didn't expect. I think the roots look really wonderful though I enjoyed seeing how you plan to further improve them.
I missed both the premieres... Huge root work, but again you did marvellous job. I really love these videos, how you prune either roots or canopy and explain why you do it. Maybe some day I'll be as brave as you are. Supergreen!
Great video as always! It is so interesting to follow your work on the lemon trees. These videos have inspired me to work a lot on the roots of my own trees. I even made a video on my own lemon tree root work. Hopefully they will develop a nebari as beautiful as yours! Love it :)
Hi nigel Ive had my lemon tree from a seed and is about 4 years old and this year in winter it has dropped mist of its leaves and a lot of dye back it did the same last year but it wasnt as bad Do you know what it could be
My lemon is twelve years old. No fruit yet, some take 15 years..anyways, if the air is very dry, the leaves may drop. Try not to overwater in winter also. Try a bowl of water under the branches and as much sun as possible. Good luck.
The bark on a mature lemon tree is awesome! It sorta reminds me of a “snake bark maple” just more brown…… Your lemon bonsai looks old by the bark on it, it looks great!! How long do u go between repots?
I'm just wondering about cutting off the thorns... Can we or maybe should we do this? Because I have two mandarin trees and one of them has no thorns at all and the second smaller one have a lot of those.
what is your temperature in your green house ? the soil temp and the temp around the tree with grow light on ? i ve read it has to be balanced soil temp min 55F for the roots to get activated ? and how close you keep the grow lights ? Thx
The citrus trees are kept at 10 C all winter under a weak grow light. Once they warm up in spring, they resume growing. I have read that this is best for them!
they say always that never maken all the works on the same time, pruning , defoliate and transplantation and you do it are you sure that your tree will survive ?
I believe last year one of his lemon trees flowered for the first time and set fruit but the fruit was bumped and it fell off. It flowered when he brought the tree up from his basement in late winter early spring. I'm sure with that information you should be able to find the video in the playlist.

I just about fell out of my chair. Is this normal for bonsai? I’m starting to learn…

The new pot suites the lemon tree perfect
Great surgical procedures from Dr. Saunders. I always marvel at the technique that the good doctor uses in working on the roots of the tree. Finished tree in pot turned out really nice.
The lemon tree looks amazing on the new pot! 😍 Thank you Nigel for the master class on root work! 🙏
My favorite lemon tree bonsai!
So nice to see repotting of my favorite tree in your collection! Thanks, Nigel!

Nigel; this has been a really good lesson with radial roots. I just know that lemon bonsai will do more than thrive. Thank you So much.
Nice root work Nigel! It's great to watch!

Great job on the roots Nigel. 👏
Thanks Sam, hopefully the tree will do well this year!
Nigel I like the look of your soil with the bark. That lemon tree is fantastic. You are a true artist.
Love the outcome of this citrus tree
This is a 3 million view thumbnail ;)
Nice root work. The tree looks good in its new pot!
The root system is as unique as the tree itself Nigel :) Started my own 4 years ago, very inspiring!
Lemon tree !!
My first plant from seed ,still alive 😃
Thanks !

What a great tree😍
When I started, 25 years ago, I did a lemon one too ... to tell the truth, the leaf cannot be laughed much😁😉
Cool, this tree got me into the channel 3.5 years ago =)
That tree is going to look awesome in the summer! Great choice of pot as well!
Just when I thought Nigel couldn't get any cooler, he throws out an offspring reference! That's awesome. Keep up the good work my friend. You, Gotta keep em separated!!
Thanks!
Your citrus work is so inspiring. I started some lemons in november and I hope I can develop them anywhere as nicely as you have

Thank you, ive been waiting for this update
Root looks great Nigel! Finally caught up on the videos now haha
Casual unintimidating Perfectionism!
Very Nice rootwork Nigel! My first Lemon tree shanked me proper!
Liked!
If i had a heart problem (hope not) I'd prefer Nigel would be my surgeon. Lol. You're a great artist! that meaning a great scientist. 😂😂
I have started 2 new lemon bonsai from seeds. Both now 1 year old. Wish I can get there as this one.
I just trunk chopped mine a couple months ago, didn't like the structure. Lots of new shoots coming now. Good luck!
@@brentbarajas and to be honest I started lemon trees after this lemon bonsai only. In his old videos. Following this lemon bonsai since long now.
@@emmkay I did the same! Except I bought a couple year old stock.
Nice work Nigel. Those roots are looking good. Nice pot as well.

Excellent work as always!
Woo! 2 vids was fun!
Part 2 Woo hoo
How long has this lemon been repotted last time? When do you decide what time to repot?
@ 12:57, was that an Offspring reference? :)
It was!
Nice tree. I’m surprised you didn’t wire in to the pot.
Amazing how much you cut it back and it didn’t die

I try and repot at least every three years!!!
Hey Nigel where do you buy your bonsai pots from? I can’t find anything here in NB

Hey Nigel, I looked back on a video from 2016, you were working on Red Maple trees . What’s become of them? Maybe you can show us?
I'm just wondering about cutting off the thorns... Can we or maybe should we do this? Because I have two mandarin trees and one of them has no thorns at all and the second smaller one have a lot of those.
You can cut them off and it won't hurt the tree!

So... I have a question. When spring is early, can you start repotting early too?
Yes, just be careful, if the weather goes cold again, the trees will need protection from frost!
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

buongiorno che mi potresti dire come è la composizione del terreno per i tuo bonsai grazie
How old is the lemon tree?
Wait! You don’t put soil?! It’s just rocks?!
It's a porous bonsai soil, it holds enough water to keep the roots and the tree happy!
👍👌🍎
None of your lemon updates show or discuss fruiting??

Rip rootball
Why this tree has not produced fruits in 25 years ?
It has fruited!
