Actually Taemin is only 14 years old in "Replay". SHINee debuted May 25, 2008 and Taemin's birthday isn't until July, so he didn't turn 15 for almost 2 months. He was literally one of the youngest idols in the industry at the time.
the song is about the younger boy in the relationship knowing that his older gf is about to break up with him due to her discomfort with his age/immaturity so he is replaying the memories of their relationship in his head
SHINee's "Replay," which came out May 25, 2008, is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. And this is why SHINee are Icons. 2PM debuted in August 2008, less than 3 months after SHINee, so SHINee are considered seniors to 2PM, but the groups are really close. That's why back in the day SHINee and 2PM were on so many variety shows and events together. SHINee debuted with a cute "younger boyfriend" image and 2PM were manly "beast idols" so a lot of programs liked to pair them together as couple groups because of the contrast between their images. This song actually came out more than 15 years ago, however, SM Entertainment rebranded itself and started its new UA-cam channel in 2011. The company reuploaded most of their older videos at that time. So, all their older MVs and content have a 2011 or newer date, but could be much older than that. You're lucky you are watching this MV after SM remastered it, because now it has English subtitles. Because, as you know, usually any of SM's videos that came out before 2018 don't have subs in the official video. "Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Every new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn, even still today. And, yes, of course SHINee can sing. As an SM group, you shouldn't expect any less. You can't be SM artists without having amazing vocal abilities. Even SM's rappers get intense vocal training. That is why SM is considered the vocal powerhouse of the industry, because ALL of its artists have out-of-this-world vocal abilities. And not only are all the members of SHINee amazing singers, but they are the original vocal kings. EXO now may be considered "the vocal kings of Kpop", but SHINee were the ones that showed the industry what it meant to be vocalists. From day one, Onew and Jonghyun have been two of the top vocalists in the entire industry, and SHINee as a group make up one of the best vocal groups of all time. Onew is the one in the hat, Jonghyun is the one with the headphones, Key is the one in green, Minho is the one playing basketball (he is always the tallest member) and Taemin is the one in yellow. Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and a songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14. However, now SHINee are known for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists and they're all impressive dancers. SHINee are some of the most well-respected artists in the industry. The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***, Victoria from F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted, so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words, they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you, I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Noona neomu yeppeo is a term that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term, so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them, even still today. This song makes all the women swoon. (Even 15 years later, when Taemin recently appeared on The Manager reality show, the female hosts of the show asked him to sing "Replay" to them.) ***SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee were designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to create the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's supposed to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. They reinvent the industry with every new release. Fun fact: SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. But as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag they needed in order to be taken seriously as a hip-hop group. So, right before their debut, SM switched up their sound and style to "Replay," and the SHINee members spent a few intense weeks working on their vocal abilities in order to be able to match the skills needed for a vocal heavy song like this. And the rest is history. As you just heard, this is SHINee's signature classic contemporary R&B vocals they are now known for. As you can see by their "Replay" MV, even at 14, Taemin was one of the best dancers in Kpop, and you will soon discover with the more that you watch from SHINee and Taemin's solo work, that he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. From day one they became known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. When they debuted they were one of the only groups who were singing live while performing this intense choreography. And everyone was so shocked with their abilities. The ONLY thing the SHINee members are not good at is lip syncing, therefore, they avoid it at all costs. When you hear SHINee singing, 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. So, unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to build endurance and stamina in order to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing like this for more than 3 hours straight in concert. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach. You should also check out SHINee's "Replay" dance practice, ua-cam.com/video/gv60nR3_69U/v-deo.html. It's not an official dance practice video because dance practice videos didn't become a thing until 2010 when SHINee released the very first dance practice video for their song "Lucifer," but it is a real dance practice video from way back to SHINee's debut days. SHINee are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today. SHINee just recently talked about how they spent months as trainees practicing this choreography in order to get it down perfectly. During Taemin's recent appearance on The Manager, you will see all 4 of the SHINee members in the dance studio practicing for their "Hard" comeback last year, as well as their concert performance, and they talk about what it was like when they were trainees learning the dance.
Replay is such a timeless, classic debut song! I was just getting into K-pop when SHINee came out of nowhere to release Replay. The song didn’t sound anything like what was usual back then. The boys were cute and talented and the song was a hit! SHINee became the first ever Monster Rookies - meaning they swept up all the Rookie of the Year awards in all the award shows that year. That has only happened maybe 5 more times ever since in the last 15 years. It’s crazy that they were all 14-18 years old here. People keep talking about how Taemin was so young, but even their leader Onew was still so young at just 18 years old. 2PM debuted just a few months after SHINee and they provided a funny contrast with SHINee because 2PM were the funny and muscular and called as the “beastly idols” while SHINee were the cute, nice boys.
Replay is, imo, one of the best depute songs in all of kpop and absolutely one of most iconic! Also they were babies then: the oldest, onew, was just 18 and Taemin was a few months shy of his 15th birthday. Also 2pm deputed in 09 so a year after them if I remember correctly
No 2PM debuted less than 3 months after SHINee. That is why SHINee and 2PM are really close and why they were in so many variety shows and events together. 2PM debuted in August 2008 and SHINee debuted in May 2008.
It's pronounced shaah-wol, short for SHINee World! Jonghyun was the one doing most of the adlibs. The girl is actually Victoria, the leader of f(x) their sister group! I would recommend for next time their Lucifer dance practise as it started the trend of official dance practises and any live concert performance because that's where they shine the most, Sherlock from their SWIV concert is a classic for a first impression and is safe for youtube
SHINee were BABIES at debut, they had the lowest age average in kpop at debut, and Taemin was the youngest idol in the busniss at the time. their ages when Replay came out are: Onew - 18 Jonghyun - (just turned) 18 Key - 16 Minho - 16 Taemin - 14 2PM were also 2nd gen but they debuted after SHINee (and much older than SHINee)
The girl in this MV is Victoria, who later became the leader of SM girl group f(X). If you notice, Taemin had no lines as he was undergoing puberty and his voice was changing.
This was such a pretty sweet song for me before but ever since one of them crossed the rainbow bridge..This is a very sad song for me which makes me tear up often when I listen .. It's been a long time too since I listened to this song .
Thing is, Taemin was so young he didn't even really get what the song was about when they were promoting it. 😭 It hit him a while later, like, "Ohhh... Replay's a break-up song." They were the youngest group by average age at debut, with Onew, the oldest, being only 18. So while they're 2nd gen, they're basically the same age as many 3rd gen groups. Let's give it up for longevity!

Best debut song of all time. I can’t see anything knocking it off that pedestal! When they debuted, Onew and Jonghyun were 18, Key and Minho 16, and Taemin 14. Taemin has said he wishes he hadn’t debuted so young. It must’ve been hard on all of them. They trained with the future EXO members and apparently there was some talk or expectation early on that Suho would debut in Shinee.
A SHINee must watch content, as with pretty much every SM group, is variety shows - I would recommend starting with Hello Baby, it's in their early years and will help you learn more about the members and their dynamic, in the midst of all the cuteness and laughing that's happening. Their Weekly Idol episodes are very good too, and recently they have their own show as well, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name.

They are such babies here 💕I love that you are doing 'Hard' after this and can see the contrast of these smushy 2008 babies and them all grown up in their 30s (even with the tragic loss of Jonghyun who I chose to believe is there in spirit) 🤗 Oh recommendations: Sherlock, Juice, Don't call Me
I laughed so hard at 6:34 because that was EXACTLY my thoughts back when I first saw this MV in 2011. I know it was not the intention of the MV but this situation would be very scary in real life. That aside, this is THE SONG that got me into Kpop back in 2011. It is just an evergreen song. As an EXO-L, I would love to see EXO cover this song. I would settle for an AI version of this but I don't think anyone has created it.
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. To my surprise i liked Replay on 1st listen. R&B vibes. It was sweet and had good harmonies. New Taemin biased 10 months. Love his dancing. I will check out ur other reactions to Shinee. Hopefully I will find more songs to love. =0} Kpop is very kdrama influenced. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 SHINee fun facts : They were the first ones to start doing dance practice videos :) Aileen DeMong said 1/13/22 SHINee was SM's experimental group. When they debuted they didn't even get any promos beforehand like what usually happens with new groups, just a few days before their television debut there was a news story about this new group with the song called Replay from SM and then they had their debut on Inkigayo (very unheard of) a few days later and then they grew from there. They are known as the Idol of Idol's and a lot of groups, even their seniors in the industry, look up to them and love them. And despite them debuting in 2008 they were all 15-18 years old at the time and they often teased other idol groups about that as they were often younger than them but had more seniority in the industry lol. Charitha Venkatesh.B said on 2/20/2022 "Marry you" is the latest one of the 3-part sequel that SHINee is doing since debut... The sequence goes like 💙"Replay" (liking & confessing to an older girl - debut 2008) 💙"Love sick" (how their relationship is still going on - 2015, the dance choreo for love sick mirrors choreo of replay and at one time during the performance when the lyrics say 'how long has it been' they show 7 in their fingers indicating the years from 2008 to 2015, meaning they have been in love for the whole time & in relationship with the same girl) 💙"Marry you" (proposing to that girl - 2021) This is the whole relationship arc, they joked that the next song in a few years might be either about their child or about a divorce 😆😆🤣 The lyrics also show the continuation here, 💕Replay: "You are too pretty" 💕Love sick: "You were too pretty, do you know" 💕Marry you: "You are still too pretty, u take my breath away everytime I see you" 💕Replay: "You are everything to my life" 💕Love sick: "You are still everything to my life" 💕Marry you: "Still everything to my life" Sakura said on 4/16/23 Thanks for your reaction 😊 For SHINee, here a little warning so you know: "Replay", "Love", "Diamond sky" and "From now on" from their concert of the same title "From now on", are very emotional (first concert after). There are also others lives performances of their others concerts that are very moving but I think the most difficult one to watch for the first time remains "Y se fuera ella" by Jonghyun (There is a version with Eng Sub). And even if someone request it, "Our page" is a mv to watch later in your journey (song written by the members for Jonghyun, the lyrics are a must). I prefer to warn in case, at least you can prepare a little mentally and bring some tissues 😕
Recommendation from a shawol: check Sherlock!! The live stage is insane ua-cam.com/video/M4pINahBoRY/v-deo.htmlsi=5LBJHP9Ka1VyDIC9 One of their best performance!!!! (Also Sherlock is ranked 14# in Rolling Stone’s best boy group song of all time)
it irks me that you paused it on taemins dance break. thats a crime. its like...pausing during tom delonge's "where are you" on blink182's "i miss you"
Long hair in Lucifer and bowl cut here are both Taemin! Replay Taemin is an absolute baby! He was only 15!
Actually Taemin is only 14 years old in "Replay". SHINee debuted May 25, 2008 and Taemin's birthday isn't until July, so he didn't turn 15 for almost 2 months. He was literally one of the youngest idols in the industry at the time.
@@milindawilson9175 I thought he was 14 but rounded up since he was so close to being 15
@@Vintage_Belle 15 in korean age
@@leowa399 no he was 16 korean age then
the song is about the younger boy in the relationship knowing that his older gf is about to break up with him due to her discomfort with his age/immaturity so he is replaying the memories of their relationship in his head
its so funny even imagining taemin at this age dating an older girl, hes 15 but he looks 12-13

(Even 15 years later, when Taemin recently appeared on The Manager reality show, the female hosts of the show asked him to sing "Replay" to them.)
***SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc.
2PM debuted few months later than SHINee, also in 2008. Another one of 2008 debuts is IU. It was a very good year for long standing kpop acts :)
@@milindawilson9175 right you are. I mixed them up with mblaq 😅
@@milindawilson9175 2PM debuted in September
SHERLOCK!!!!! Just in case you still need help deciding what to do next for Shinee's classics! 😉💚
14-year-old Taemin with that bowl cut 😭 an iconic hairstyle
It's pronounced shaah-wol, short for SHINee World! Jonghyun was the one doing most of the adlibs. The girl is actually Victoria, the leader of f(x) their sister group! I would recommend for next time their Lucifer dance practise as it started the trend of official dance practises and any live concert performance because that's where they shine the most, Sherlock from their SWIV concert is a classic for a first impression and is safe for youtube
For me, one the craziest thing: Taemin was only 14 years old when he debuted. So, so young.
Love this debut song one of the best . They were so young but all ready super talent the vocals of Jonghyun & Onew were fantastic
SHINee, yes, yes, more please
Shinee!!!!! I love them so much!!! They were so cute here!!! Taemin was literaly a baby.
SHINee were BABIES at debut, they had the lowest age average in kpop at debut, and Taemin was the youngest idol in the busniss at the time. their ages when Replay came out are:
Onew - 18
Jonghyun - (just turned) 18
Key - 16
Minho - 16
Taemin - 14
2PM were also 2nd gen but they debuted after SHINee (and much older than SHINee)
i would recommend married to the music being my favorite title track from them!! 1of1 is also amazing
This is the best debut ever imo and I’m an EXO-L but wow this is just GREAT music 😮💨
I’m you
Same... So nice to listen. The runs are amazing and the video is cute too. I love it ❤️
I'm such a Key stan lol 🥰🥰🥰
Best debut song in kpop for me... ageless for sure.
The girl in this MV is Victoria, who later became the leader of SM girl group f(X). If you notice, Taemin had no lines as he was undergoing puberty and his voice was changing.
If you want more fun...Married to the music 🎶 I'm loving watching British reactors of my generation as someone who's had a similar K-POP journey😅❤
my fav debut song
I cant believe they debuted taemin at 14, our baby 🥹❤
This was such a pretty sweet song for me before but ever since one of them crossed the rainbow bridge..This is a very sad song for me which makes me tear up often when I listen .. It's been a long time too since I listened to this song .
Our Prince of Kpop! Shinee is such an amazing group and their discography is God tier
Best debut! One of my favorite songs ever. Even my cousin loves this song and she does not listen to K-pop this is the only song she listens too
You could do a SHINee marathon and all Shawols would be here for it
This is without a doubt one of the best debuts ❤
Yes, more Shinee! Thanks
Thing is, Taemin was so young he didn't even really get what the song was about when they were promoting it. 😭 It hit him a while later, like, "Ohhh... Replay's a break-up song."
They were the youngest group by average age at debut, with Onew, the oldest, being only 18. So while they're 2nd gen, they're basically the same age as many 3rd gen groups. Let's give it up for longevity!

SHINee's "Replay" is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. And this is why SHINee are Icons. (It's not that shocking because SHINee's songs age like fine wine, and they only get better the more you listen to them.)
You're lucky you are watching this MV after SM remastered it, because now it has English subtitles. If you haven't yet, you definitely need to read the lyrics, so that you can understand some of SHINee's iconic inside jokes and references.
"Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Every new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn, even still today.
Best debut song❤❤
Shinee! Shinee! Shinee!

And this is why SHINee are Icons. They still perform this song at almost every live event and concert, even after 15 years.
Because usually any of SM's videos that came out before 2018 don't have subs in the official video.

They are such babies here 💕I love that you are doing 'Hard' after this and can see the contrast of these smushy 2008 babies and them all grown up in their 30s (even with the tragic loss of Jonghyun who I chose to believe is there in spirit) 🤗

Love this song so much! Jonghyun is so missed. EXO is my Ult group but SHINee is my wrecker group! Have a great day!😊😊
I laughed so hard at 6:34 because that was EXACTLY my thoughts back when I first saw this MV in 2011.
I never get over how much of a baby Taemin is here lol
Shinee and 2pm both debut in 2008. Shinee debut a few months before 2pm if I remember correctly.
Great to see a younger Victoria Song because I just finished watching 'Our Interpreter' and she looks good as always :)
Subbing for more shinee reactions ❤thank you another reactor who associate them with Jackson 5..im so happy😊😍
Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
SHINee fun facts : They were the first ones to start doing dance practice videos :)

SHINee was SM's experimental group.

"Marry you" is the latest one of the 3-part sequel that SHINee is doing since debut... The sequence goes like
💙"Replay" (liking & confessing to an older girl - debut 2008)
💙"Love sick" (how their relationship is still going on - 2015, the dance choreo for love sick mirrors choreo of replay and at one time during the performance when the lyrics say 'how long has it been' they show 7 in their fingers indicating the years from 2008 to 2015, meaning they have been in love for the whole time & in relationship with the same girl)
💙"Marry you" (proposing to that girl - 2021)
This is the whole relationship arc, they joked that the next song in a few years might be either about their child or about a divorce 😆😆🤣
The lyrics also show the continuation here,
💕Replay:
"You are too pretty"
💕Love sick:
"You were too pretty, do you know"
💕Marry you:
"You are still too pretty, u take my breath away everytime I see you"
💕Replay:
"You are everything to my life"
💕Love sick:
"You are still everything to my life"
💕Marry you:
"Still everything to my life"

Thanks for your reaction 😊
For SHINee, here a little warning so you know: "Replay", "Love", "Diamond sky" and "From now on" from their concert of the same title "From now on", are very emotional (first concert after).
Best debut
Noona neomu yeppo 😀😀😀
I ,m an ExoL but i like Shinee also .SM,s Artist are great .Exo sarang haja
Taemin was only 15 when he debuted..!!!!
