  • Wahed Invest has become the most popular global Islamic investing app for Muslims. Wahed's halal trading platform has made everyday Islamic investing possible for millions of people around the world. In this video I conduct a thorough review of Wahed as an islamic finance investing app - making sure I cover is Wahed reliable, is Wahed shariah compliant, if it's good for beginners, the pitfalls of using Wahed Invest as well as my overall opinion on the app.

    Hey few questions on the HSBC index funds breakdown
    1 - Is tesla still considered halal as they sell alcohol now and give out loans
    2 - In the light of the boycotts currently, isint investing so deeply into the american market go against the stance of disinvesting in genocide enabling markets ?

    They are still investing in companies which deals with riba in a certain threshold. You are not withdrawing from riba but you are participating in it within certain threshold, which came out of these so called Sharia board member's brains. Which i think makes people specially people who are trying not to involve with riba, involved in riba in a way. Now my problem is there is not gray area in riba in our scriptures it's a strict hard line, literally Black and white. I think this will result in more people dealing/involved with riba, which defeats the purpose and literally makese their sales pitch a complete lie

    Stick to large, reputable, and regulated brokers with a long track record. Do your own due diligence in regards to your investments to make sure they are ethical and sharia compliant. Wahed has only been around since 2017 and has a valuation of less than 500m.

    But may I ask, so what's the difference between using wahed invest directly from their account and from buying their HLAL or UMMA from another brokerage like fidelity for example
    The reason I ask, is that I want to open a custodial account for my child and wahed does not have that feature yet

      @@CertifiedTalks so I fall into the 2nd bracket as I’m 37. However I do want to make up for loss time so might consider Very Aggressive.
      Just checked and they do in fact have that sorry. States fees over 5 yrs will be £395 at 1.45% for 5k (I have an Lifetime ISA with HL. Maybe it’s cheaper on non ISA platform?). That’s more than Wahed who state 1% but also £20 yearly fund fee totalling £350?

    • @CertifiedTalks

      Personally I don't have a lifetime Isa as it's quite restrictive to me eg I can't withdraw till 60. Usual advice is to max out S&S Isa first. You can utilize s&s Isa on platforms like trading 213 which is very very cheap. 1.45% is very high...
      I have created my own aggressive portfolio on trading 212 which I will be opening up for people to copy if they choose to

      @@CertifiedTalks Ive only opened a Lifetime ISA recently and have £300 in it. I don’t plan to invest much in this. Maybe £1k max a year.
      Note to other viewers; a lifetime ISA is great value for money as the government tops up 25%! This can also go towards first time house buyers so if you’re under 39 definitely take one out!
      “Who can open one? You're able to open a Lifetime ISA if you're aged between 18 and 39. You can save up to £4,000 each tax year, every year until your 50th birthday. The government will pay an annual bonus of 25% (capped at £1,000 p.a.) on any contributions you make.”

      Walkum salaam. They both offer different products and each product has its place in everyone's portfolio. Finance offers very high risk products whereas Wahed offers a range of risks but not as much as binance. This isnt financial advice , but my personal split is both crypto and stocks , but stocks (Wahed) much much higher than crypto.

      Generally itll be your personal details e.g. address, and likely your tax id number - depending on the regions legal requirements they might ask you for more info. Youll also be asked about how risk averse you are and make sure you understand your investments can go up and down (from a legal perspective they have to). Youll then be assigned a risk portfolio based on how you answered your risk profile questions.

    Salaam! Jazakallahkhair for the informative video. I’ve been using Wahed for the past year and Alhamdulilah have had a 18% gain on my initial investment :)
    I do plan to stick with them for the time being, but I wanted to ask; Do you suggest we stay with Wahed in the long term, keeping their relatively high fees in mind? Like you said in the video, it’s not much now, but in 10-20 years it can add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
    I really do enjoy just depositing my money in the account and having it be invested and adjusted automatically, but if there is another low maintenance way where I could make the same results and pay less fees I would definitely want to pursue that.
    Jazakallahkhair in advance!

    • @CertifiedTalks
      @CertifiedTalks  3 місяці тому

      Walakum salaam. thats great youve had a good experience with Wahed and made great gains. My personal opinion (and action) is to slowly move away from Wahed - i dont think youre a beginner investor and so you understand what youre doing. I have slowly moved my new investments onto another platform (trading 212) where the fees are minimal and i have replicated whatever Wahed was investing for me in the same ratios. I will be sharing this in the future if people want to copy it as well.
      This is one of the reasons i keep saying Wahed is great for beginners because if you dont want to think too much then Wahed does the job for you...but i always knew after 2-3 years id start to look at alternatives. Theres plenty of alternative platforms out there where you can do the same low thinking investments as Wahed but at a lower cost. Its just the first step will take more effort (about 10mins worth of effort but this is what puts people off!). I will be making a follow up video soon on Wahed on some issues ive spotted with them so do subscribe!

  • @techninja1
    @techninja1 Місяць тому

    Zakah is pillar of Islam that is established by giving 2.5 percent of ones assets every lunar year (360 approx) since the day ur wealth has passed the threshold. It has nothing to do with Ramadan. Check ur knowledge brother and change or undo it if you can because this will only reinforce the misconceptions of others

    • @CertifiedTalks
      @CertifiedTalks  Місяць тому

      Salaam, what did I say that was incorrect?

    • @techninja1
      @techninja1 Місяць тому +1

      @CertifiedTalks walaikumassalam brother. I think you said that we get reminder for Zakah right before Ramadan so you can pay it off in Ramadan but that's not how Zakat works as I explained above if my savings or assets pass the threshold of silver or gold in the month of Safar and remains so until next hijri year then I'm obligated to give Zakah by the month of Safar isn't it

    • @CertifiedTalks
      @CertifiedTalks  Місяць тому

      @techninja1 ah got you. I agree with you, you can pay over any 12 months, most people decide to have their 12 months Ramadan to Ramadan for increased reward so that's why I made the point. That is also the reason Wahed does the calculation Ramadan to Ramadan. But if you do it say Jan -dec then you will have to do your own calculation.
      An additional clarification point is the amount you pay. When you buy a stock you're buying assets+liabilities meaning you don't pay zakat on the full amount but rather just the assets portion which scholars have estimated to be around 30-33%....you then pay 2.5% on this amount.

    • @techninja1
      @techninja1 Місяць тому

      @CertifiedTalks hm I wonder if it is from the Sunnah to pay only in Ramadan. I am aware that we can pay the Zakah in advance. So I guess it's permissible. Anyway if that's what you meant then it's fine.
      About what you said that stocks are assets and liabilities. I don't get it. Are stocks 70 percent liability to us? Can u elaborate pls?
