It was a privilege to meet you, be inspired by you and learn from you. Ueli, you are a remarkable and humble individual that history will remember fondly.
He showed everyone that one of the hardest faces was possible to solo. He achieved this enormous goal. Then 1 year later the mountains took him to them. I believe that after Annapurna, there was no greater thing to achieve. Thats why he left us. But Ueli. You are a great man with a great family. I know you Rest well up there. And watch down on us with a smile. You inspired a whole new and young generation. To do it their Way. Wie de Herr Steck es gseit het. "Mer egal was machsch, mach's eif richtig!"

@@noahmoody1640 Taking risks for the sake of taking risks is probably not good for us in the long run. Natural selection would probably favor what makes you live longer, not what reduces your life expectancy. Also, taking risks for the sake of taking risks could simply be a symptom of boredness. When life isn't exciting anymore (because we live separated from each other in individual homes, because we get our food by pushing a cart in a supermarket, because everything tends to become a product, etc.), we are tempted to compensate for that with a simulation of life based on artificial activities. There is a reason if alpinism didn't exist during the first 99% of mankind's history. The same is true for other extreme sports. Actually, it's probably true for sport as a distinct activity, whether extreme or not. What isn't life is to embrace the fake life and to think it's the real life. Think of environmentalism. When you go somewhere and hear people say "Here, we take environmentalism seriously, we work a lot to protect the environment", then you know for sure that the place is polluted. A thousand years ago, when there was no environmental crisis, the word "environmentalism" didn't even exist. When something suddenly happen, it is usually a symptom of something else. Environmentalism is great, right? We want to protect the planet, so it must be great. But no, it's not great, because it is a symptom of pollution. What's great is when people don't even know what environmentalism means. Because it means there is no pollution. There is more and more environmentalism, but there is more and more pollution. It doesn't work. Because it's just compensation. It doesn't address the cause of the problem. Avoiding a mindless life of servitude is great, right? So let's do extraordinary things, like climbing Mount Everest, or base jumping, or whatever is risky. There are more and more of those activities, more and more risk taking for the sake of risk taking (sometimes extremely stupid like the "Tide Pod Challenge"). But it doesn't work. Because it's just compensation. It doesn't address the cause of the problem.

He communicates such a great attitude. Thanks for posting this.
What a fucking legend, it's sad to watch a hero from your childhood that died
I’m always amazed at how Swiss people speak such great English.
Dutch and Swedish speak even better English
We Europeans speak usually 3-5 languages
There's certainly nobody, living or otherwise, that I'd rather hear several multi hr podcast interviews with than Ueli!
Great interview and advice! Thanks for the lovely video :)
The Legend 😢
LEGEND
Legends never die!
Rest in peace will stick
I really want Ueli to climb K2!
He did that last Saturday ... it took him 4 hours including lunch on the summit!
He could have done it faster but left his gear at home. Using only one glove and slippers on.
how he die
Legend 😭
'You should not fall' 1:19. But...you do fall eventually.
Anyone know the climb at 4.15?
So sad 😞
His death... "he fell an estimated 1,000 metres (3,300 ft), seen by several Sherpas and expedition members around the valley" OMG
What's the name of the music in 0:38
Music by CMA: soundcloud.com/cma-music
I do not care what he says ueli!!! I just want to hear the sound of his ice axes
rip ueli
Anyone know the mountain at 5:35?
Stefan King The Eiger. Mittellegigrat
scheideggwetterhorn west pillar
People like this don't know how to just be and hang out
They have to do do do
And he died because of it
and he also really lived because of it!
@@BeadTheFreak true but at what cost? I guess everyone is different haha
and thats perfectly ok
Rest In Peace ..., I don't understand why u'd risk ur life climbing mountains, but u died doing what u enjoyed.
I don't understand why people would live a life without risk. When the chance is there at any moment.

Legend and utmost respect but i dont think he climbed annapurna from South Face. So far no videos, pics. Nothing. Not any proof. Except interviews etc
No evidence to suggest he reached the summit of Annapurna. Nothing.
how he die
fell
Is Steck Uri Gellers son ?
Prick.
