The IT guy at my school was the original drummer for an indie band called the Boo Radleys who had one really big song in the 90s. They didn't have much of a career after that one song though, so he probably made the right choice to leave them and work in IT.

The money he made to pay for the recording was from commercial Herring fishing with his Dad in Alaska.. we spent a lot of time together on the boats and he would play cassettes of the music they were going to record.
My uncle was actually the one white guy that used to sing with Gladys knight and the pips before the got signed he went to jail started going to church and became a preacher when all that happened he quit singing with them
