  • Does your smartwatch track your sleep...? Now, does this same gadget have the functionality to track your sleep 100% of the time, night after night for one-month straight? Yeah, I thought so too! Whether your device tracking "thingy" is made by Samsung, Garmin, Fitbit, Apple, Withings, Fossil, or it is a hybrid with WearOS (I hope not) they have bugs. This video is about the Samsung Active 2 in particular and how once in a while, yeah, it fails too and often when you least expect it - while you're sleeping...

    Watching my own videos about sleep make me want to sleep more often to acquire more data, and yeah, perhaps, do more videos about sleep!

    I have that problem with the sleep app about one out of every three nights. I'm using the new galaxy watch 3. I get the same block graph instead of my sleep breakdown. I'm ready to return my watch. I called support 6x and they just kept switching me from department to department, and every department said they didn't know anything about using the health app. Samsung is pathetic. I'm also having BT problems. My watch keeps connecting and then unconnecting from my phone. I often have to manually reconnect. I have 5 other BT devices use with the same phone and I have no problem with them like this. Really unhappy with this purchase.

      Very sorry to hear you received a crappy unit. I am glad mine has worked for the last 11 months. I just discovered that Samsung is running a special on the Galaxy Watch3 Titanium version. They are giving an extra $100.00 off and then $150.00 trade-in value for the Active 2 - WOW! Again, very sorry to hear about your issues with Samsung. Have you tried the TicWatch gadgets?

    • @TheRusselmuscle
      @TheRusselmuscle 3 роки тому +2

      @@PeterHerget No I did see a few videos on the tic watch. I like the idea of the 02 blood sensor and the BP monitor of the watch 3 though. So far my watch received the US blood 02 sensor feature update, but not the BP monitor feature. I think I'll return the watch 3 for now and maybe buy another in a few months, hoping they have the bugs worked out. Or if this watch 3 is defective I'll avoid getting stuck with it. I'm still very shocked at the terrible support I received from Samsung.

      @@PeterHerget galaxy watch... I don't think it's coz of the heart tracker, coz it works fine when working out, but for some strange reason, it's not really picking up on sleep patterns like it used to. And I suspect it's definitely a software glitch

    Not sure which version of Samsung Health you have. I have version 6.7.1.003 and I haven't had any issues. Also, your sleep information screen looks completely different than mine does. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

      Thanks for the comment! I am running Samsung Health ver. 6.8.5.009 and running on Android 9. I did a reset of my account and they reconnected my Active 2 after taking to Samsung Support. Yep, my sleep was tracked aright last night 😀

    Interesting thing has happened. Sleep stats on the Active watch 2 have still been "off", but on the Galaxy Fit 2 it seems to be right on (when it tracks it). Not sure why this is still an issue. Samsung needs to get their act together or I will be moving on to Garmin.

    • @PeterHerget

      That is a bummer about your Active 2 wearable. I sold mine to a neighborhood friend for $150.00 after I wore it nearly daily for 19 months - it was a very solid smartwatch. I have the Galaxy Fit2 as well and mine stopped working about two weeks ago. My Fit2 is only three months old. I am contacting Samsung Support to get a repair order for the Galaxy Fit2 for I would like to compare it to the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic that I'll be testing this weekend. As for Garmin versus Samsung when it comes to sleep analysis, well... Garmin is pretty nice. All of the newer Garmin wearables have Advanced Sleep tracking functionality and that is awesome. Garmin purchased the company that was leasing them the software used and they have been make fabulous feature updates. Now, it is not perfect, but it is just a relevant as Samsung. Garmin needs to fix two things ASAP
      1. ability to track naps
      2. ability to change your sleep goal from the default of 8 hours

      @@PeterHerget I would love to sell mine and either get a garmin or wait for the Galaxy Watch 4 and hope that they have things figured out. My ECG function doesn't seem to want to work properly either. Not sure if that is the watch or something else.

      The ECG feature and overall functionality of the Samsung Active 2 was hit and miss for me. It was improved with their Galaxy Watch3 and I hope 🤞 more improved still with the Galaxy Watch4 Classic I ordered.

      @@PeterHerget So you did order the watch4? I guess as a UA-cam reviewer you just had to! I am not so sure that I would reorder a Samsung Smartwatch again. But then again, I do like all the integrated features. I would love for them to work on their S Health app. Maybe that will change since the OS is switching to Google from Tizen.

    I had a galaxy watch and that happened a lot of time because that I stopped use Samsung watch. We pay a lot of money and the watch it's not accurate about the sleep tracker and heart tracker. Anyway great video. Do you have a vivoactive 4 . So what's your favourite watch ? About the accuracy sleep track, step count and heart tracker ? Thanks

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  4 роки тому +3

      Sleep Tracking can be very accurate via Garmin ecosystem, however the Garmin cannot process nor detect naps... Whereas both Fitbit & Samsung have the ability. For tracking steps & ❤️ rate, yeah, I feel from years if experience that Samsung, Garmin, Fitbit, & Apple are all very close. I would say Garmin wins wit the accuracy for HR, steps, flights of stairs, and over workout/fitness tracking. Now, as a smartwatch experience - Samsung & Apple win the "smartwatch" interface category. Both Samsung & Apple make amazingly brilliant devices. I think this is why I keep returning to Samsung each year for their latest Galaxy Watch model - they are smart! The current Active 2 LTE gadget has been my favorite watch in the past three years. With some tweaking I was able to get the battery to last 4 days on a single charge. Now, battery life, that is a tough category... Garmin, Withings, and Fitbit win the 🔋 battery life category hands down. The latest Garmin vivoactive model called the "First Avenger" will last 6 days with a few tweaks and I think I already posted that video. Well, I hope I answered your questions 🤓 back to my treadmill workout... Keep on moving 🏃🚶🏊

      I tried this again and it worked. Once in while the HR lights fail and the smartwatch cannot detect sleep and many other stats. About once per week while charging I simply do a cold restart, shut-off the gadget while it charges for 1.8 hours and then I leave it off, fully charged, for another hour. I simply walk around with my Android smartphone in my pocket and all my health data is still tracking smoothly via the "Samsung Health" app :)

    Greetings from London. England bro!! Did you ever get to the bottom of this problem? My sleep has not been tracking for nearly 3 weeks now. I have tightened the strap. Loosened the strap. Put HR on continuous. Then HR on 10 minute intervals. I have had Airplane mode on and off. I have hard rebooted the watch. I have cleared all unused apps. And nothing seems to solve the problem. My HR is working fine and is being tracked. But I ALWAYS get the 'No Sleep Record Today' message. I am very tempted to sell the watch. But all reviews still give it a great review. What am I doing wrong? Any tips please? (it seems to be a common fault when I google for help). I am running software version.. R820XXU1BTA1..

      I am still rocking the Samsung Active 2 LTE edition. Here is my bedtime routine to track sleep:
      1. synchronize watch with Samsung Health
      2. place the watch into Airplane Mode
      3. place the watch into DND mode
      4. turn down screen brightness to a level 1
      5. turn on "Goodnight Mode" and go to bed... I have done nearly that exact routine, at least the last two steps, and my Samsung Active 2 has tracked my sleep with a 97% accuracy. Please, let me know if that does not help.

      @@PeterHerget For goodness sake,if I had to do that every night before bed I would hate my watch. That's ridiculous. Technology is supposed to enhance your life not make it so tedious.

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  3 роки тому

      Well... I did not think it was such a tediously exhausting, and required task, until one month ago. I purchased my first Apple Watch, the series 6 "SE" edition and WOW, what an eye opening experience. Samsung and Apple are often similar with features, but when it comes to sleep Apple did their homework.
      1. Tell the Apple Watch SE that you're ould like to track your sleep
      2. Set a schedule when you would normally go to bed and awake
      3. Love your life
      4. Apple does the rest
      I was going to keep it and then learned that the Watch S6 LTE model has a bigger battery and T-Mobile has it on sale right now for $200 off 🤠 Now, due to COVID-19 I work from home often along with another 7,000,000 blokes, ergo, I was issued a work mobile. I thought, why not have my cake and eat it too... I carry both an iPhone and a OnePlus nearly at all times. My plan to to purchase an Apple Watch SE next week and then do a one-month sleep study analysis between the Galaxy Watch3 and the Watch S6. Stay tuned for some awesome perspectives on sleep, workouts, step accuracy, blood oxygen stats, ECG rythymns and nerdy data than you can shake your stylus at 😁🤠🤓
