The big question between the 2 boats who is still building with plywood?? Parker is famous for building with plywood and poor quality, tanks leaking. I would go northcoast just for the level deck.
Ah beautiful New Jersey, wish i would have known you were there! i would have looked for you. Thats where we bought the tidewater lol. Great video as always John
That 2820 was awesome. The price jumped quite a bit but you had twins and a second steering position out back, which I think amazing fishing and docking.
I had and regrettably sold an ‘07 NorthCoast 23 HT with a 200 Suzuki. Very nice fishing cockpit and pilot house provided great shelter on cold and rainy New England days. Sliding side windows offered plenty of ventilation on hot days. Downside was the 10 degree deadrise and head chine made for a rough ride in the chop. Would definitely recommend deep-V for anyone ordering a 23.
I can't believe that 315 doesn't have an exercise bike! But seriously, that is an awesome boat! I used to fish with a buddy whose dad had a real nice Albin and it was great to have all those creature comforts on the trips lasting several days (nights in the marina). I had a Defiance Admiral 220EX fishing in the PacNW. Pretty similar to a Parker but it had in floor fish boxes which I really liked. I'm in Florida waters now and will be looking for another boat after I my boss gets a new kitchen. Although odds are high it will be a CC, another Pilot house isn't out of the question. They are really nice when the weather gets snotty which it even does here in Florida.
Pilothouse boat are definitely my thing. Growing up with cabin cruiser type boats here on L.I. they've always been my preferred style. And if I had to chose from the boats you showed the 23' Parker would be my pick.
I think half the comments here were about Steigercrafts LOL. Unfortunately, they were not at the show because it would’ve made for a great comparison. I have called the factory three times trying to schedule a visit to do a review and I’ve received zero return calls for my efforts. My presumption is they are selling enough boats and don’t have time for me.
From a fisherman’s point of view my 28’ Steiger Craft Miami with twin 300 Yamahas and 10ft beam solid 1 inch deck with no wood under the deck is a good fishing boat. The North Coast 31’ has better amenities and wife appeal but at 400k it’s too much money for a 31’. The Steiger is a fire hose boat after fishing. Hose it down walk away. Plus I paid 109k used for 2016.
Those step down Parker pilot houses are tough to see out from the captains chair in anything but flat water, hence the need for 2nd stations to stand up at. The Steiger and Judge do not step down. Ironically, my old Grady 25 Sailfish with bracket twins, side by side with a 25 Parker with bracket is the same length pulpit tip to motor back, yet I’m up 2 full steps to my captains chair. I see over the worse sees. The Parker has more cockpit than my Grady but I have a huge cabin with enclosed head and plenty of headroom, and I’m 6’1”. No ducking to get up on the bridge. The Parker house roof is massive construction so keeping them down as low as possible helps mitigating the rocking.
I still like the Steiger's. I had a factory tour in Bellport. They make everything in house, except for hardware. Well worth the tour that would make a great video. 👍

I had the 23 pilot house, which is significantly smaller than the 25. Materials it was not a great riding boat with only 10° of dead rise. I use the tabs liberally. We are working on them right now as we speak and the ride was tolerable, but honestly, I think you would want a little more deep Vee if you are going offshore at all.
The new Bayliner 25 ft. pilothouse on sale for 135k is looking good right about now...except it's a Bayliner : have no idea what they're like, nowadays.
The step down into the house on the Parker would be a no-go for me. Running back up to make another drift while fluking and dealing with the step-down drift after drift would get old fast. Had a 23 Steiger Miami about 20 years ago. Great boat for drift fishing. All electronics were clearly visible while fishing from out back. Those Northcoast's were very nice rigs.

I think, historically, pilot houses are more in the mold of manufacturers like Parker, Maycraft, and Steiger, where you have a fully enclosed helm area, where you drive. Expresses can be closed in with curtains, but typically they don’t have that full three sided windshield treatment.
Your missing the Steigercraft 28 and 31 Miami, or Fisherman models. Strong, well designed, open, and 100k less than a Northcoast! Steigercraft 31 Fisherman with twin 300's is simply the best out there, IMHO.
