    It would be great if we could see the anti-roll bar, the improved suspension and improved gearbox in action in the complete model, but still a great video! Keep it going, loved it!

      That's good feedback, thank you! If any of the other super cars that I build and modify include anti-roll bars I'll be sure to demonstrate them in their videos after the model is assembled. As for the improved gearing you can't see it in the Porsche model after it is complete as it is all covered up. I think Lego learnt from this model and with the Sian have made the gearing visible underneath that model.

    And thank you very much for kind words with regards to the stickers sets, it is highly appreciated!
    Your comments on the mods are very interesting too. I am seriously considering breaking down mine and rebuild it included mods and lights kit!

      Thanks for your support Walter and for developing the stickers for this set!
      As I mention in the video I think it's probably too much work with not enough pay-off to fully dismantle the model and rebuild it to Jb70's modified design. But it is certainly possible, which is another great thing about Lego. The lighting kit is cool and is straightforward to install. : )

      @@CraftedBricks currently modifying mine right now. I’d say that the easiest part was removing the body work, since even before modding it the bodywork is almost modular. I chose not to modify everything and just do the stepping mechanism mod and the modular chassis mod. Wanted to preserve the “original” model with minor changes, but even if I chose to do all the changes I’d say if you’re an experienced builder you can manage to do most of the work without fully disassembling the model, or at least removing huge chunks of the model so that later it’s easier to rebuild everything.
      Great video!

      @@extranceIT - that is very good to know and thank you for posting this up. The gear selection / stepping mechanism is a lot of fun! To me the highlight of the mods for this set was the inclusion of the anti-roll / sway bars. Very clever and good to see actually working as intended at this model scale. Great to her you've modified your model and that you enjoyed the video. This video is an older one, whenever I look back at my older videos I see so many flaws! But it's good to see that I'm getting better and improving.

    Hi Simon, I've watched several of your videos and they're all very good, why anyone would give a thumbs down for your hard work, time and effort is beyond me.
    Curious: what is the total weight of the finished Porsche including the lighting kit in this video?

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Brickchamp - thank you for your support and comments, I really appreciate it! I certainly try to improve for each video that I do and for my next video I'm going to try out a different format and see what people think.
      To answer your question: I just weighed my Porsche and it weighs 2.65 Kgs. So that's my modified version with the lighting kit installed + battery box which has 3x AA batteries inside it.

  • @CHProject76

    I certainly like the technical modifications, they seem like a big improvement on the original model.
    I noticed that when you first mentioned the stickers, you said that it was confusing as to why they weren't on the original model. I can answer that. The car on the Eurobricks forum with the GT3 RS logo on the side is a 997 generation 911. The lego model represents the 991, which didn't feature the logo on the side. Nonetheless, they do look good on the car.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks EliteChallenger76, it's good to have the background on why Lego didn't include the GT3 RG logo on their original model. I appreciate that! ...I really like that subtle bit of additional detail that the stickers have added to this set; I still admire it as I walk past the model from time to time now that it's sitting in my display case.

    Just picked this up tonight although it second hand and still assembled, it was a better price than I expected and a lot better than BNIB, I won't be disassembling it and am not really a fan of the light kit but I do like the stickers

    • @CraftedBricks

      If you do just one upgrade - do the stickers, best bang for buck for sure and 'pimps' this model in a very good way. Just keep in mind they are best applied with tweezers to get the alignment & position spot on.

    Great video thanks for putting it together. I ordered the stickers and will also attempt this build. I have only done TLG builds before. I downloaded the parts file and added the bricks needed to my wanted list. It added 78 parts from the 9.9% list although it calls out 283 pieces. Can you confirm this is correct. The parts shown on the 4.7% list are already included in the set I believe. Thanks and sorry to trouble you. Best, Jeff

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jeff, no problem at all. Yes the part quantities are correct. There are 78 unique part types that you will need for the mods but with the quantities specified for those parts the total number of parts comes to 283. And yes the 4.7% list on the right are parts that you will have left over after doing the build. I.e. they are from the original set and are not used in the modified version.
      Notes: When you are building the modified version from scratch start with all the '#1' labeled bags of parts from the standard set. There will be point in your build where you will find you are missing parts, you'll need to either find those parts in the extra's you ordered from BrickLink or in the next series of bags (#2). I got to points in the build several times where I had to 'hunt' for the parts in this way for a step in the instructions. The same logic applies when you are working through the later sections of the build using the parts in bags #2, #3, and #4...
      Just for transparency I also had an issue where I was missing a few parts and I had to find those in my spares. But I think this was just me as I ordered the parts for this mod with several other parts for other projects and I think I missed a few parts in the sort.
      Enjoy your build!

    My only disappointment with Lego on this model is that they used decals for the front fender vents. Would have been so striking for them to have put actual black gill inserts in the fenders. Otherwise own it and love it.

      Hi Tommy, that's great news! I'm assuming you are building the model from scratch and doing the mods as you go with JB70's instructions? You'll have fun, it's a superb and very rewarding build!
      Good timing with your comment. I'm working on the Bugatti right now and it's going to be the subject of my next video. Once again I'm going with JB70's pimped modified version + I'm fitting a lighting kit. I'm hoping to complete the build, shoot the rest of the video sections and do photography this weekend. With editing and publishing of the photos and video for next week. : )

    • @Alex92codmw3

      Yes following the JB70 instruction religiously 👍 just waiting on the lights to arrive, bit delayed do to pandemic reasons as we have gotten far to familiar with.
      Hehe well guess it was perfect timing then looking forward to, i presume you will start looking into to Lamborghini Sian after that to cover all 3 of the supercar models 🙂

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 роки тому

      That's spot on Tommy - I'm BrickLinking the parts for the Sian mods now. But I've several other builds to do and video before I get to that model. So I'll probably do that one in a few months time. The Bugatti's coming along well, it's a beautiful model.

    • @Alex92codmw3
      @Alex92codmw3 3 роки тому +1

      Understandable i believe the light my bricks for the lambo is also quite expensive compared to the Porsche and Bugatti, they do look amazing tho 👍 cant wait for the Bugatti video hopefully i can finish my Porsche by then 🙂
      Im interested in your opinion on which supercar you think and or hope Lego will do next for 2022?

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 роки тому

      Hi Tommy - I think Lego are going to do something from the Ferrari brand (but I'm just guessing). A supercar in red in this 1:8 scale line-up by Lego is definitely missing!
      I bought this a while back: decadastore.com/collections/master-series/products/cada-italian-supercar-c61042w ...but after building the Telehander I'm a bit wary about CaDa's part quality so I'm unsure at the moment on whether I will build it or not.

    My question is actually about that turn table you were displaying the model at the tale end of the video. Where did you get it an how big is it? I've been wanting to get one.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  2 роки тому

      Hi NoFlags, the turntables I used I had custom made by a Kitchens & Cabinetry place. The large one I have is made from 16mm MDF, laminated on both faces and then I painted the edges myself. There is a lazy susan bearing underneath that I picked up from a hardware store. I went with the custom option as it very hard to find a good lazy susan to use that is commonly available. I think going down the custom route like I have is going to be your best option.
