  • So, Target had a special deal on these dual fuel Coleman lanterns. I found out about the deal on a Facebook group of Coleman Lantern enthusiasts.
When mine came in, I had to share it with you. My wife calls this an unboxing video. What do I know?
I went ahead and tied the mantels, filled it and lit it for the first time.
For $40, it works pretty well. This is a dual fuel lantern. That means you can run either Coleman fuel (AKA white gas) or regular unleaded gas (AKA RUG).
In the future, I have another old lantern we're going to clean and fire up for the channel. It's a 200A I picked up several weeks ago.
Enjoy the video. Be sure to watch to the end. Also, I added the watermark/bug for the channel in the bottom corner because someone stole part of one on my videos for their advertising. I felt violated.
    Cheers!

just a heads up for better results you need to burn in the mantles before using the lantern with them.

Do you still have the Ranchero?
Did you finish it off camera or sell it as a prodject?

Did a lot of work off camera. The last half of 2023 was really rough around here.

Very cool lantern 👍 is this using the same fuel as car / motorcycle?

It will run on regular unleaded gas, sometimes referred to as RUG. The white gas/Naphtha/Coleman/camp fuels are cleaner and store for years and years. While the RUG tends to leave a varnish behind when it evaporates.

I recorded opening the box and had to go back and light the lantern for the video. It just seemed wrong not to show it working.

Will a regular Coleman Gasoline mantle lamp like yours work with 90% ethanol?

That's a good question. I'm going to say probably. But, I'd consider asking Coleman or consulting with a group of enthusiasts. Personally, I only ever run the Coleman fuel / white gas. They are designed for that type of fuel and I know they are stable and can be stored for extended periods between use with that type of fuel.
