Thank you for sharing your experience of the Salkantay trek objectively and for choosing our service to do so! 🤗
You’re welcome! Happy to share since we had a great experience! Welcome to share our videos if you would like ☺️
Hello Salkantay, We are curious if anyone has booked your services from finding or watching our UA-cam video on Salkantay? Or made their decision to book because of the two videos. If so, would you be open to sharing a testimonial? 😊 We would love to find out.
Awesome video!
I thought I already heard some Dutch in the previous video. Nice to know they are from Belgium and not the Netherlands, I did not expect fellow countrymen over there as the Dutch usually beat us to it ;-)
It's also interesting to see that each route of the four day Salkantay Trek is a bit different. I also did it last month, but for the third day I started at Lucmabamba and went all the way up. So I didn't follow the river as shown here on the third day, but instead I climbed into the rain forest, descended to the hydro-electric station and followed the train tracks to Aguas Calientes.
Thank you!! Very cool that on these guided treks you can meet people from all over the world. Always something we look forward to.
It is interesting that each guided Salkantay hike has a different approach. That was a long third day for you. Sounds like you definitely got the miles in. Which guide service did you go with? So many great guide companies in that area I am sure!
@@HelenandTimTravel I used Tourbulencia Extreme. I think it's more or less the same as the organisation you were using, but a bit less luxurious. I didn't have electricity in my dome and even a pillow was missing :) But the location of the camp sites were pretty nice, the food was delicious and the guides were very knowledgeable.
Glad you had a good experience. We only had electricity for a couple hours between 6 to 8pm. Not having a pillow would be rough! They were bad pillows anyway 😅🤣 we wish we had our camping pillows. a
There's nothing like traveling without moving... Especially when I'm watching your trips! Thanks so much for sharing about Machu Pichu! Appreciate this! Like and support from Bangalore
UA-cam is the best at that! You can explore so many areas in the world. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
Really good stuff. Very interesting, excellent content and moves along, plus your personalities. It's going to grow nicely as you make your way to many destinations. Great follow y'all! I envy the new followers 2 years from now that get to binge watch you to catch up.
Thanks, Vern! 🥹 you are always so kind to us. We hope other people feel the same way. We put a lot of work into these videos. Hope they inspire people to get out to do the same.
It is a beautiful area and should not be missed. The hike up the mountain to see the views of Machu Picchu is worth it! We hope you get to visit sometime :)
Thanks - very insightful. Your guide is also very knowledgeable and it's great to share about the local culture.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. Our guide Juan Carlos was truly the best. We were very lucky to have him as our guide. ☺️
We had a great time hiking Salkantay Mountain Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu reopened for visitors Feb 2023. Let us know if you have questions!
It's back open now
Thanks for the heads up
I’ll be doing this trek this year and I’ve watched a bunch of videos on it but your videos have been my favorite for sure.
Awesome to hear! It’s a great hike! Awe, thank you! Glad you enjoyed our video ☺️
Congratulations,so cool video. What the budget you need for your4 days trek .I ll try to do next year .tks for your help .last question what is the name of your guide company .
Thanks! The company we used is Salkantay Trekking. It’s linked in the UA-cam video description ☺️ I think it was around $400 per person for the 3 nights and 4 days but that was also 2 years ago.
Many tks for your fast answer, really appreciated .All the best
@miramoneric6988 you’re super welcome! Thanks for watching ☺️
Great trip
We had a great time and can’t wait to head back to explore other parts of Peru!
Spectacular, this is beyond spectacular folks. What a stunning mini documentary folks! Amazing cinematography 🔥
Thank you!! That means a lot to us. We put a lot of time into the videos. Appreciate it and thanks for watching ☺️
Great video! We will be doing this same trek in July and was wondering how you went about getting drinking water? Do they provide this? Thank you
You’re doing to enjoy the Salkantay trek. We brought our own water to start off the hike. We had 3 liters each. They do give you drinking water to fill up each morning. They have dispensers at each camp. Water and other drinks are also available to purchase at each camp.
Great video. But you did not talk about your own mosquito experience. Was it as bad as the guide told you so in the jungle? When you guys had hot shower in the jungle, did they provide towels to you guys? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! The mosquitoes weren’t as bad as we thought or were told by the guide. We still bought bug spray in Cuszco (heard buying it local helps to target the types of mosquitoes/bugs) and sprayed some on when skin was exposed. Didn’t get bit up much or remember them bothering us too much. You need to bring your own towel on the trek, they don’t provide those. A lightweight towel we found helpful!
Love watching this entire trek! Thanks for sharing! we're planning to do the same later this year. Could you share what additional circuits did you do for Machu Picchu!
Thanks! Salkantay to Machu Picchu is a great hike and a beautiful area! We didn’t do any others in the area but we hear taking the Inca trail route to Machu Picchu is another great option.
@@HelenandTimTravel Thank you so much and yes, we're doing the 4-day Salkantey hike, I was asking one of the different circuits on top of the Machu Picchu, if you had a chance do more than one of them :)
You’re welcome! Have fun and let us know how it goes. We just did salkantay but definitively want to go back and do some of the other Inca trails ☺️
Would you recommend the 4 or 5 day Salkantay trek?
We wanted to do the shorter trek. You do get an extra stop hiking Lucmabamba, which is an Incan Archaeological site in Aguas Calientes we didn't get to see booking through the Salkantay Trekking Company. We knew after 4 days we would want a break since we had been hiking quite a bit around Peru before this. It depends on the cost and the time that you have. It is only a $50 USD difference, so not too bad. Hope that helps! Happy to answer more questions anytime!
My wife and I are wondering exactly what dates you were at Machu Picchu?
We noticed less tourists and somewhat cloudy.
We went around mid Sept. Definitely seemed less crowded. We usually try to travel in places shoulder season
Did you find day 2 salkanty harder than machi pichu mountain stairs?
We both think day 2 is harder since it was a longer ascent and day overall. Machu Picchu mountain stairs only took us 45 min to an hour to get up but we also were going fast since we were trying to get down to see the other parts of the ruins. Also you get a good nights rest the day before in a hotel in Aguas Caliente ☺️ Hope that helps
Hi taking a solo trip in a few weeks, looking to book through this tour, do we have to add on the extra mountain machu pichu when you book the 4 day trek?
You do have to add the extra trek when you sign up with Salkantay trekking for either Machu Pichu or Huayna Picchu mountain hikes. Make sure there are permits available for the dates. It will be an extra cost for that permit with your 4 day trek when you sign up on their website. It says $60 to add the mountain hike.
Hi! I’m looking into booking the same tour via Salkantay Trekking later this year. Just wondering what time did you leave Aguas Calientes in the morning and what time did you have to board the train later in the day? Would there be sufficient time to do both Machu Picchu mountain and Huayna Picchu too? Thank you!
Great to hear you’re thinking of doing this trek. We left aguas calientes around 5:30 but started waiting for the bus around 4:30. Our entrance time was 6am to Machu Picchu and we could start hiking Machu Picchu mountain at 7am but I don’t think we started until 8am. We don’t think you’ll have time to do both unless you skip seeing all the other parts of Machu Picchu. We left to board the train no later than 2 or 3 pm. After that you have to catch a bus ride back to Cuzco which is a few more hours. The trekking company books all your train tickets and entrance tickets. You can likely email to ask if it’s possible. Everyone in our group chose one or the other.
@@HelenandTimTravel Thank you!
