I'm looking for a drum machine to record,I'm new to the recording stuff I'm I'm looking at either getting garage band or a drum machine that's sounds good for playing thrash, what are your thoughts on garage band for recording or should I get some other type of recording software and get a drum machine for that,I'd like to get a drum machine also for practicing, can you recommend a drum machine that's not to expensive sounds good and is fairly easy to use, hope I made sense.Kust want to know if garage band has a drum machine that sounds good and is easy to record or get a drum machine and use another type of recording software, thanks.

there are people on both sides of the fence between 1) a standalone drum machine (meaning it can do everything on it's own without a computer) or 2) using computer software with a drum pad controller (using MIDI).
I personally prefer standalone units like the MPC (in this video is the MPC2500) and they have a range of models that you can look into based on your budget. I also love the EP133. Standalone Drum Machines can usually load or sample audio so you can use whatever sounds you want to.
Using software with a drum pad controller is totally fine, and usually much more affordable, but that's because you have to have a computer, once your computer dies, that's your next big expense. There's also latency to worry about with computer software and pad controllers, and usually you have to pay more money into a higher end pad controller that compensates for that.
Garageband is a perfectly fine free DAW, but the sounds can be a little cheesy. In most free/basic software the sounds they come with are kinda meh, so most producers will purchase nice sounding drum virtual instruments (VST) to use in their preferred software.
      Hope this is helpful
