Often times, video games being re-released in different titles without brand licensing has been a country-to-country issue. A game by Delphine software no less, was released in America as "James Bond: The Stealth Affair" but released in the UK as "Operation Stealth," and the main character's name was changed to "John Glames"
IIRC, the John Glames version was the original, whoever picked it up for the US release just slapped a proper James Bond license on it. But yeah, there can be weird licensing issues when going overseas.

I mean, you had to be doing SOMETHING while the game installed. I'm just a little young to have had a C64, but early DOS and Windows machines usually took a while to install, and I read the heck out of those manuals. I've been genuinely shocked; literally with my mouth agape; listening to Ross describe some of the things he has done and had to go through/put up with in the making of this series. The amount of times where's he's had to perform painstaking research, reach out to people in a community that may not even exist, and spend countless repetitive hours of grinding and retrying in what would otherwise be the most un-fun gaming experience in any of our lives, but is just another day at the office for him is crazy. I mean damn, if I lose a couple round of Rainbow Six in a row, that's it for me, I'm done for the evening. there are so many "game critics" out there who either only play part-way through the game, or else give up when the game becomes too difficult for a "normal" person to complete and just walk away without ever knowing what lies ahead. The fact that Ross makes such a point of completing each game he plays on this series, no matter how brutually difficult, tedious, or nigh-unplayably broken and glitchy it is whenever possible, is nothing short of inspirational. It's the kind of thing that makes you wanna wake up the next day, go to work, and just do your god damn job, and do it well. Because if Ross can do it, you can too.
The best part of game dungeon is how Ross always finds these games nobody has heard of, and then beats them with insane difficulty all while showing us the first time the game has been beaten.

Thanks for all the videos this year, Ross.
Gordon’s in media are usually just Awesome people, I’m going to change my name to Gordon.
I'm stuck at work overnight tonight on Christmas eve and will probably sleep most of Christmas day off so thanks for helping my holiday suck a little less, Ross.
This is a great Christmas gift, thank you Ross!
Thank you for the upload! every Game Dungeons video is like little Christmas for me :)
Ahhh new Game Dungeon!!! This is the best Christmas present ever!!!
Agreed...
Amy Ann Tylenda i have to take it back. I got a psone for christmas with some good games
Silly Billy nice! I got a present that made me cry cause I was so happy! Still, the high quality material the Ross provides it worth more than money can buy to me.
Amy Ann Tylenda what was it
Silly Billy it was a really nice Nikon camera. I had to stop taking artistic photos when I went back to college full time. I just graduated and this is what I have been wanting for a few years but haven't been able to afford.
It could be that they either lost the licence at some point, or didn't own the rights in a certain country. (For example, HG Wells's work is considered to be in the public domain everywhere except the United States)
FLASH AHHHH HES THE SAVIOR OF THE UNIVERS
**"ZZAP! AH-AAAAH!"
Yeah, awesome sondtrack, made me a King fan.
"ZZAP! _WHOA-OOOH!_ HERO OF THE GALAXY!"
King is such a great group. So many classics!
I wonder if Ross could've use some of the music from King's soundtrack. Perhaps there would've been some legal problems, I don't know.
Nothing like being snuggled up in my bed on Xmas eve watching Game Dungeon on my Fire Tablet. Merry Christmas Ross!
Oh hai Ross! Merry Xmas!
Thank you for doing what you do Ross.Merry Christmas!
"GRIND YOUR BONES TO MAKE MY BREAD"
Lost it.
Reading the manual on the car drive home or while everybody else opens their presents was always part of the joy of getting a new game for me.
You forgot the other two awards.
In the other universe, you only have 1 award.
Giving multiple awards to 1 thing is just weird...
Love your Ross's Game Dungeon videos so much!
Ross, for a shorter review at some point in time can I recommend Afterlife, by LucasArts? I know it's kind of a SimCity derivative, and you've made it clear how those go for you, but it still has its fun points
Merry Christmas to Ross and all! This is a great gift
As a matter of fact, yes, I WOULD read the manual cover-to-cover first. I also read instruction manuals for appliances before I use them. I'm weird like that I guess.
I do that too, hence my mother taking me for some sort of tech guru because I don't just try to wing it when working with a single button interface I've never seen before.
I love these Ross! Thank you again for all the work.
"...imagine you're a kid with a new game on Christmas morning. Is sitting down and reading a manual cover to cover the first thing you wanna do?"
Its usually what I did in the car on the drive back home with whatever new game we'd picked up, heh
I would read manuals only on the toilet. 😁
Throwback to the days of bringing the game manual to read on long car rides to the family's house for a holiday dinner
there are a bunch of old Mickey Mouse games released in Japan but rebranded as other properties, eg, Roger Rabbit and Donkey Kong, due to contractual reasons.
in fact, this kind of thing is pretty common vis-a-vis Japan vs everywhere else
The names in the pink+yellow intro blurb got changed, too :D This really is the flimsiest yet thorough disguise possible, incredible...
Best game from an alternate dimension? What about Helious?
Joshua Hopkins Helious is from another galaxy, but is still of this dimension.
The universe is a big place, man.
Accursed Farms thanks for the great content
A lot of the reason why companies change names in different regions is usually legal concerns like a trademark in one country preventing them from releasing there. This is why Farenheit was named Indigo Prophecy in some regions
Awesome!
The gift I really wanted this year.
