Jeez I'm so glad I found your video. My family and I are planning to buy a trailer and Ember was on top of my list. I hope Ember watches your videos and fixes all these issues.
Fyi. I have a 2022 ember 19msl been on the road and in some heavy snow and rain. Zero manufacturer flaws.
Personally buying something you don't think you'll ever have to fix it alot like living in a hotel. I've been a homeowner, a moving home with always have some issues. Even lances, Oliver's, airstreams. Stuff does come loose no matter what.
Idk if other places do this. But fun house RV let's you set up and stay with your RV in the adjacent RV park.
I technically had some loose water fitments but nothing that caused damage. Just checked everything before I turned anything on.
I'll say the mattress definitely needs an immediate upgrade. Happy with the quality of everything else.
@Gregg thanks Greg! Yeah I totally understand. MAINTENENCE is the key to keep anything nice. The leaks are my main concern. That's awesome that RV dealer lets you stay in it before you buy it. I will definitely look into that.
Going to be a first time buyer at some point and Ember has been by number one pick. You've had a lot of issues considering the higher price tag of the Ember. I'm not as handy as you, and nor am I as patient, having spent most of my career in sales and marketing. Looking at Rockbridge too. I want something reliable and will sacrifice some features for quality and durability. Recommendations welcome.
Same here - I want to have something I can do mild overlanding with.
Ember is still good. all campers have faults. Oliver or air stream are the only high quality ones that don't ship with issues
I have a 2022 ember msl 191. It has zero issues outside of a slight leak on the slide in 40mph winds
I thought I would drop in and see how your Ember and various repairs got accomplished. I hope all is going good.
Thank you! Ember used to be a strong contender.
Awesome detailed interior tour.
Nice job on all details you added inside, lots of work, looks great, very functional.
Thank you both for taking the time to share.
We enjoy putting these videos together. Will enjoy more once all the kinks get worked out. If Ember is following these vides it could help with their build quality control Iron sharpens iron.
I've watched both your review videos on your trailer . You did a fine job with your reviews. I'm wondering if you have come to a conclusion on your flooring ? My thought is it's definitely moisture, what else could cause that. Do not let the manufacturer slide on that. I know it's a main concern for you and it stinks to have to take it back for months at a time while it sits . 👍
I like the idea of the use of the bunk beds. Ghee, how can they leave a large hole for the shower and sink plumbing underneath? Your right, use a foam filler. I would worry of water infiltration from the road. Be careful of mold. An expensive trailer with these minor issues is beyond my thinking. QC at the factory must be checking these items.
Love these. My wife and I are actually looking at getting one of these for us and our daughter. After seeing these videos, I’m wondering if you ever found out what the floor issue was
Thanks for your concerns & efforts in sharing. I'm a 1st time RVer and was ecstatic when I stumbled across EMBER and settled on the EMBER 191 MSL. However, without any prior experience, I've been discouraged from day 1. I also have the floor issue you have described, my MAX solar (with 4 batteries) doesn't seem like it'll be able to handle even 1 full day of operation. I had the camper independently inspected prior to taking delivery and they found a leak in the bathroom faucet, despite the Dealership claiming they fixed it, I learned on my 1st outing that they had not and subsequently the vanity is now severely water damaged. I have made attempts on contacting EMBER via their customer contact page with "0" response. I can only hope that they will stand behind their product but for now, since I live & work 100% out of the unit, I don't have the option of letting it set anywhere getting or waiting to get repaired.
That's a tough spot when you full time. The dealers have an online portal to submit warranty claims. May try contacting your dealer.
I’m sorry to hear that. I was so hyped on this brand doing so much research. I guess it’s back to the drawing board. I just can’t afford anything more than this because Lance is too expensive
@@itr0863 Oliver is expensive too but that's what I'd recommend to you. I got an ember and has literally none of the manufacturer faults this guy had.
I for sure will be copying his fixes to make it closer to 4 seasons but other than that I haven't had a single flaw on mine.
Oliver if you sign up for their forum and wait for them to verify you. It'll give you access to the classifieds and you can even say you're looking to buy there. I know they go used for 40-100k depending on year and features.
Charlie, you still liking your Ember? I’ve seen someone that bought one that was plagued with problems, starting with expired brand new tires, ugh!
I could’ve swore, you said this was gonna be a review, not just a tour
Thank you for all the info you have been providing, taking into consideration all the issues would you purchase an Ember again. We are looking closely at one and trying to research as much as possible on a new release before making the deal on it.
Yes I would. I may trade for a newer unit next year. I like the 191MSL. Maybe even the 201. I jumped in feet first when I saw my unit. It checks all the boxes. Composite build will stand the test of time. We have a few kinks to work through , but the Ember team is addressing them.
I’m curious if the watermizer recirculate the hot water into your fresh (cold) water tank or a separate tank? I’ve heard people say both answers.
When are you coming back to make more updated videos?
What kind of futon mattress did you get ? From where?
Here is the link to the one we got:
www.thefutonshop.com/organic-eco-wool-latex-futon-mattress
It's from The Futon Shop and we got the Eco Wool Mattress in a firm. It does take both of us to put the bed back up into the "Murphy" position, but it's definitely worth it. It is a really comfortable mattress.
Have you had any problems with the overhead lights? I've had two stop working. When I opened them they had very poor solder joints.
Gina has a hard time with the one on the top bunk. Other than that no problem.
Got it , thanks never mind you shown it at 40 min 30 seconds, great !
I know it was a long video! Thank you for watching.
@@CharlieandGina it was a great video! Hope to see you install a Fort Knox trailer lock soon!
Thank you for your helpful videos.
Good job. I would like an oven. Plus some food storage
I have never been able to close that exhaust fan since day #1. The clips just don’t line up.
You are the second video I have seen on bad flooring with Ember . So sorry I know how expensive these trailers are .
My family is considering this camper. What would be a great deal to purchase this camper?
Thanks for the helpful videos! Any update on the floor issue?
So the floor had water intrusion. Don't know why yet. The floor smelled musty when I cut into it. The vinyl flooring was discolored , but the transcore composite floor was white and clean. I did not see any big mold growing. It looked like milder on the bottom side of the vinyl. Definitely smelled mildewy. I never got the mold test done. We did have it checked under a microscope and nothing could be seen. So mildew is my guess. Ember never sent results from shaw flooring test. But it is in service getting repaired now......I hope....
The floor is being replaced , I will update as soon as it is completed.
@@CharlieandGina thanks for the update! Have they found the source of the leak?
Charlie , what happened to HaulinnEmber channel?
Was looking to buy one, good info!
I like how to brand use springs and shocks as their suspension system. But, it seems to be such gamble to buy an RV and hope that nothing major is wrong with these campers(in general).
How do you get the radio to work?
Thanks for this video.
I was very close to pull the trigger on a Micro ROK to get my feet wet until they built the model the way I wamted.
Ember is leaping implementing the comments and ideas of their fans. Therefore I'm sure they will built my ideal RV in less than two years.
But given this and other videos that show poor quality control, I'll wait a year or two until they get betteer.
Never hurts to wait. Only drawback is inflation.
Any updates on the floor problem?
It is in the shop and Ember has authorized everything I requested. Been in 4 weeks. I will update as soon as it gets completed.
As for the floor, this summer I'm going to lay down "OSLEN EVA Foam Sea Deck Boat Flooring". Look that up. My thoughts.
Has you mold issue been resolved?
Check our latest video update. Just got unit back
awesome Video. Thank god you are very handy.
Thank you for the wonderful videos inside and out did I hear you right you only get 2.5 gallons to shower? It all sounded great up until that point lol good to know now I don’t think I could do it
So the truma combi hot water/ furnace has a 2.6 gallon tank. One definitely has to learn how to shower in a camper. It is a quick recovery system. So if you turn on the hot first , and adjust the temperature with the cold water , you can take a decent shower. We have a propane tank less hot water system at home , so it was shocking to shower in the camper. Had to learn. Lol
Navy showers better for the environment and a little shivering is good for ya 🤣
How do you get the L E D strip behind the bed up above to light?
The switch is on the couch side panel drivers side. When laying in bed you should be able to reach it.
The slide had problems after only 6 months ?
Yes. So strange coincidence when we brought the unit in to get the fridge replaced, got home set up and went to put the slide out and you could hear gears grinding. Back to the dealer 3 hours away. They kept it for 3 weeks to diagnose it. So then going through warranty , parts etc. We kept using the unit over the summer. Slide worked , but made a grinding noise. And when we got back from the keys the slide would not go out. . Took it in and they replaced the mechanism. Not sure exactly but it works. It took 4 weeks to complete. That's why I try to fix what I can.
@@CharlieandGina is it swinteck type slide. They usually get of track. Lance trailers have same issues with swinteck . I like the other type.
has anyone else had issues with the paneling on the wall between the bathroom and the dinette slide out popping out / staples coming out? i have a 191MDB as well
My One Connect stopped connecting in October. Today is 22 Nov. I still get no connection. Only Tire Link continues. By the way, my phone, my wife’s phone, nor my IPAD will not connect no more.
I feel your frustration. Wish I had some good advice. Usually when I have tech issues I call on the kids. 23 to 26 years old. But when it came to camper solar they couldn't help.
I’ll ask for a radio antenna also. I don’t want satellite radio had it in my home and my car , got tired of it after a few years
I like the local stations , when we can get them.
Solar isn't that easy.
How much do you utilize per day?
Are the panels angle mounted to max output?
Even with that said, 500 watts should be able to charge your bank to 100 percent everyday.
You need to figure out how much you are consuming daily
We were testing with just the 12 volt fridge going and lights occasionally. I wanted to see if it could handle just the fridge. Parked in the full sun in Florida, at home , so we weren't using anything . Just testing the fridge.
I see a defect on this RV which I addressed to the company the stove that's inside the RV does not fit a normal pot to cook and it's dangerous because it's near the wall it's a fire hazard to have something like this close it's better off to have an electric convention stove that you could use outdoor or indoors for safety reasons I address this to whoever is listening to addresses so that company that makes these RVs is a wonderful RV but I see that defect
i was planning to buy an ember no i think its a lemon for the money and ill have to find a new option
thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.
Definitely not a lemon.
It's more like a diesel truck that needs a bit of love but could last forever.
This guy went incredibly in depth, but me and 4 owners I've talked to had none of these issues. Outside of cold drafts and that kind of build quality stuff.
The mechanical, electrical, water, solar, all work just fine.
I had water fitments to tighten but that's it.
Fun house RV let's you park next to their sales area with full hookups (only one dump location) so you can sit there and figure it all out. Check every system.
If you're on the fence try to find a place like that where you can test it all out before you fully commit.
Things like actually living in an RV can be a pain in the ass if you're used to everything just working. Something will always break eventually it's a home on wheels.
Can I get in contact with you? I am having trouble getting any help from my dealer and need to contact Ember directly.
Christy.turner@emberrv.com. She is the owner experience manager. Very nice lady. Include your unit number in the subject so she can reference easily.
I have the 190 MDB. The mattress is so bad! We bought a 3 inch topper to lay on the mattress. I wish they came with a better mattress.
I'm sure no matter which mattress they used some people would be uncomfortable. And it would affect the price. However , I wish there was better options available for the bendy mattress space.
The floor thing must be a common problem. Ive noticed small black spots like that in several pictures of brand new campers on dealer websites. Always wondered what it was but now it all makes sense. Was seriously considering an Ember but not after seeing all your problems. That stuff shouldn't happen on something that costs that much. The welds on the frame also make me think they really aren't as high quality as UA-cam vids would lead you to believe.
First few years they used the wrong glue Ember is aware of this you should get them to replace it ...
I feel your pain on the solar. I got max solar 2 ea 100ah batteries. Disappointing performance using alternating current. DC current i do really good.
Somehow my fridge is wired to the solar panels. What a tangled mess of wires.
@@CharlieandGina 😢
I was looking into the same model based off of a UA-cam video from a dealership. It was made to seem like the 2nd coming of Christ. With all the issues you've had and the time spent getting repaired I'll have to look elsewhere. If this was me I'b be fuming mad, props to you for maintaining your composure.
You must not know a lot about campers. What you get with ember is near the highest quality components and structure you can get for the footprint/weight/off road capabilities.
To get a similar camper with "less or no" headaches, you're looking at the pause or the black series. Which guess what, cost almost twice this...
What this guy did was fix some issues that shouldn't be present, but also future proofed it.
No camper this size is built to it's quality. If you want absolutely no issues you need a custom build fiber glass camper but it won't have the off road features in this price range at all.
Oliver is probably the best for what you'd want but they start around 80k I believe.
@@greuju- They have definitely made a few production gaffs, from supplying manuals that are not for the equipment installed, to wiring cluster ducks. Yes, good components, good design, etc., but also solar controllers not wired, leaks from missing sealant, refrigerators that when pulled reveal lose wiring, wires misconnected (solar controller), and IMO their worst was the massive number of customers that bought aftermarket rear camera models to save a buck who all found the same problem, a wire not connected at the rear inside taillight area. Two that I am aware of called a dealership and they immediately told them where, the color wire, and where to connect it to. Get that? I back up prepped unit that has a wire intentionally left off to encourage aftermarket rear camera purchases and ship time ($).
@@Erin-Thor and? It's around 20% faulty all campers that aren't Oliver or airstream.
That includes 200k ones as well
@@greuju - And… nothing. You are correct, every RV, INCLUDING Airstream’s have issues. And yes, I understand the rush to get them out the door. The only things I take issue with Ember with is not doing QC checks before they leave the plant, and for intentionally running the wires for the back up camera but not connecting them. They told dealerships but not customers. There are common denominators for every RV, with Ember its leaks, and wiring chaos.
@@Erin-Thor literally everything you're saying I've seen on 200k campers.
Man, I was going to pull the trigger and buy the new tk, but after watching this….. sure seems like an awful lot of issues…. And for the price, I don’t think you should have those issues.. guess I’ll go with a pause or roamer.
So what number unit is it? One of the very first ones?
I'm sure it was one of the first. It was manufactured in 12/2021. Bought it in January 2022.
Mine is unit 0157
@@CharlieandGina after 200 they stopped using glue on the flooring underside, mine is0820
@@DogDaze66 does the VIN number indicate the production number as the last few digits?
You have max solar, when max solar was 4 batteries now they only give 2 and do not have a metal frame under the couch bed. The inverter is also turned sideways which can’t have 3 batteries in a row , and a 4th behind the inverter. You must have a vin number under 600th unit made in 2022
Yes , my unit is 174. They called it the Max plus solar package.
I would listen to your wife.
No only for the health issue but also, if they took 2 months for the fridge, imagine what would happen if they have to tear up the floor.
Maybe is a water leak. Rather the seal of the cargo door, or the plumbing.
I'm a fan of Ember but with this quality control issues, I guess I will waite a couple of years.
Ember delivered on their promise. It looks like a completely new unit. Ember stands by their quality.
They picked it up , took it to the factory , and three weeks later returned it to me , brand new. AWESOME
I'm glad. I hope fixed every single littything. Even the shore power light.
I feel so bad for you that I posted your video on anothe video that Josh the RV nerd had with Ember's CEO and founder.
Why did you say the floor problem is not the glue?
Well I cut into the linoleum and I have water intrusion. Some areas may be the glue, but my worst area is wet. It's going into get fixed in three weeks. Ember is working locally with Optimum RV to take care of it. I will keep you posted.
@@CharlieandGina Do you know where the water got in? I want to check my trailer and seal it up if needed.
@@CharlieandGina How did water get in.
@@CharlieandGina How did water get in?
@@Berrypancakes229 so at this point no one knows. It's going in to service in 3 weeks. That is just the best answer to date. They will perform a water test and reseal the unit. Keep watching for updates!
i was considering these trailers but not after all the things that went wrong with yours... I hope they gave you a nice refund for being an earlier adopter
Hey, are you still having issues with your solar? Just watched a video of another Ember owner and he found an issue where the solar wires come into the cabin from the roof. Behind the fridge are solar wire connections that could be loose. ua-cam.com/video/JniLKYUSNao/v-deo.html
Yes . So it is back at the dealer getting checked. Hopefully they can find out what the issue is.
There's more than a couple negative Ember vids. Of course, everyone has issues, but Ember is marketed as being so different. The black floor, bad glue, just put me beyond consideration anymore. At least for today...
I never wanted to be that negative guy. When I started filming the Ember I wanted to show how great the new company did things. I hope soon things get turned around.
As a manufacturer since 1950s, it’s how problems are handled by the manufacturer when they occur. I am confident Ember will back their products, fix problems when they occur and have continuous product improvement in real time.
@@icare7151 mine is at the dealer now getting diagnosed. I am looking forward to using it again. It should be brand new soon. Now who is the manufacturer since the 1950s?
@@CharlieandGina Same
This was not a review. Thanks anyway
Rv manufacturers are horrible
The more I see about this company the more I feel like they don’t quite have it together yet. I’m comparing the Micro Minnie FLX and I’m seeing a better camper in the FLX just based on problems with the Ember. Floor issues, solar issues, window issues, refrigerator issues. The ember is 8’ wide so that cuts out a few trails.
There is a long list of good qualities with Ember. All composite and aluminum construction was one reason I chose an Ember. We know all campers have issues. How well they get resolved is what makes a difference. Our Ember is 7 feet 6 wide. The new ones are 8 foot. You have to live with whatever decision you make... or trade it in.
The FLX doesn’t have the suspension either. If I get one with solar I want it to recharge itself fully and be pretty much self supportive. That makes the ember 60,000+ I think they are waaaaaaaaY over priced. Campers in general that is
Greetings from the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I would purchase the Ember over Winnebago any day.
