After reading the book twice and finding the dynamics and relationships between the characters fascinating and very true to life, I think the actors have been perfectly cast and play their parts beautifully. Nicks underlying sadness and the kind of flatness that can come after a period of depression was so clear within his body language and eyes.
Felt bit lost with the characters to start as with didn’t know what to expect because didn’t get round to reading my book. Everything made more sense near the end with Nick having depression etc. The series made me cry so much because of the reality of mental health etc just so raw and relatable.
In the book, the chemistry and tension between Frances and Nick is undeniable. Frances' flirtacious arrogance and quick wit paired with Nick's dry sarcasm and intensity forced them together. On screen we could not see these interactions at all nor why they liked each other. I don't blame the actors at all, the script is at fault
The irony of the title and lack of conversations got to me. The nuances, side glances and body language, I get, but at the end of the day, I just wanted to slap them for being stupid. Actors were good though. Mind you I wanted to slap some of the characters in NP too. Funny that.
I should have read the book before starting to watch. I doubt I will read it now as I really can't abided Frances! I like Melissa and Bobbi. I have a few eps to go, but Frances is making it a chore to watch!
I watched last night's episode. It's just like NP. More unlikeable characters, although Bobby is good fun, there's a lot of very stilted conversations! It was a bit dreary.

Frances came across like a self obsessed sulky teenager, I didn't warm to any of the characters in the way I did with Normal People.

I'm really looking forward to this show, the cast seem to get on splendidly, in comparison to the on screen messiness of the love square.
