      ALSO REQUIRE HDMI TO AV FOR USE ON ANY NTSC TVs for use in to receive PAL broadcasts. You can use NTSC TVs in Brazil, Argentina, Indonesia, etc..

    This is an excellent review. I regularly take (older) European Televisions down to the Caribbean and because of the PAL/NTSC differences they can’t pick up the analogue signals; this device is Key! You can also get this device for AV output too freeing up an HDMI port if needed. All you need to make sure is that the TV can take 110v (or buy an inverter) if you plan to take one down….
    Excellent review sir!

    • @FrancisLitanofficialJAPINOY
      @FrancisLitanofficialJAPINOY 2 роки тому

      Most TVs in French Caribbean Islands are mostly PAL and SECAM only analog tuners.

    • @Maddanju1632
      @Maddanju1632 2 роки тому

      Barbados, St Lucia, Dominica & Trinidad still use NTSC analogue signals for Terrestrial broadcasts and this device helps convert the NTSC broadcast to AV out, and the Telly does the rest. French Caribbean territories do use pal/secam but the ones that aren’t, are based on the old American system.

    Thanks for the video! It really helped.
    One thing the video could have explained a little better is that the video game console’s RF cable goes into the RF/HDMI converter box and NOT to put the video game console’s RF cable into the TV’s coaxial aux.
    And also a little bit better step by step procedure with the RF/HDMI converter’s remote control and going step by step to get it set to English.
    Other than that, very good and helpful video!
    Got the RF/HDMI converter working with my top loader Nintendo without too much trouble. There aren’t that many UA-cam videos out there on how to convert RF top loader Nintendos to HDMI without buying some sort of mod kit on eBay and going into the mother board and do some fancy soldering skills.
    I figured, if you were able to get yours up and running with Atari, then it’s gotta work on my NES top loader, and it did! Thanks so much for uploading this video.😎👍

    7:33 you can also do this by the TV itself (most modern TVs have an aspect ratio setting often called various names in the on screen menu).

      It is indeed. Thanks! I'm glad that this video helped you get this unit, but, my video was not the first to feature this device, that distinction belongs to @Hirudov, his clip pretty much showed me how to use mine, just days after first ordering mine, you can view that video here: ua-cam.com/video/b_rLnSpwyz0/v-deo.html

      @@RayJacksonbighmw hi i got the device but the picture is awful all wavy lines

    • @RayJacksonbighmw
      @RayJacksonbighmw  3 роки тому +2

      @@Retro-Fez You may want to check all of your connections, you might have a bad cord (either the HDMI or the game RCA cord) hooked up to her, swap out some cords to check, I highly recommend not using a typical stereo audio RCA cord as your game cord, they are just not designed to handle antenna or most RF video signals, use an RF-shielded cable instead, I had this same problem with mine and then plugged in my supplied 12-foot Atari OEM game cord (it came with my 2600 Jr.) and that solved it. Also did you do the auto-scan, make sure it's right on it, also you can make adjustments on this device, and as for the wavy lines you might have your settings on either PAL or SECAM by mistake, go to that 4th menu where you go to switch the language and go to the second option below it and right-click it the get to the settings to change it to NTSC, then hit the right click button again to activate it, that might solve some of your problems, let me know if that works, thanks! Also in the sound mode remember keep it off of the infamous "DK" mode, I suggest using the "M" mode for that like I do.

    GREAT VIDEO! I can't say enough good things about the level of detail and the pace. Just right to work along to.
    My question: I ordered a PAL to Coax adapter and then a Coax to RCA adapter and stacked them up. Anyone know if that will work? So far, it isn't finding a signal on channel 2 or 3. Before troubleshooting Atari power or video cable issues, I wanted to check if it has to be the direct PAL to RCA adapter in order to work. It's a four switch 1980 2600 so I don't think it has a power light. I am getting a change in the static when powering on and off.

    Thanks for this review I got mine from China took a month. Only thing is I had order that PAL to RCA converter. Not sure why they used the PAL RF instead of NTSC. I have to wait for that to arrive in order to test this device.

    • @RayJacksonbighmw
      @RayJacksonbighmw  3 роки тому +3

      I hope this device will work for you, so far this has been my single-most watched video on this (of my three) channel, I just started doing original clips on this channel to go along with those on BIGHMW TV and The Atari Report, my other two UA-cam channels I also run.
      Originally I only used my Ray Jackson channel mainly for personal browsing purposes and never thought much about putting more original content on her but this clip and the popularity of it and the viewership numbers have certainly changed my mind on that front.

    Every TV sold today still has a anolog tuner so the vintage video game system can be connected directly to the TV. This would be needed if your using a PC monitor or using the TV tuner for digital broadcast TV and don't want to weaken the broadcast signal.

    Hi Ray, thanks for the video but I'm stuck on getting my master system 2 to show on the tuning section.
    It can't seem to find it : (
    I had to plug the mains into the rf to hdmi box to get the remote and screen to work so there's 2 mains at work, rf and master system 2 mains.
    Is there something I've forgotten?
    I've got a Panasonic viera, PAL UK tv and same for the console

    • @SquirrelsWrath
      @SquirrelsWrath 2 роки тому

      I noticed yours jumped from "1" to "2" pretty quick, mine stays on "1" and goes from 10 up to 800 etc and just stops.

    • @RayJacksonbighmw
      @RayJacksonbighmw  2 роки тому

      @@SquirrelsWrath When I ran the scan on the video I did hit the center button on the directional cluster in order to stop the scan and after I did it the device reverted back to the last signal it picked up, in which was indicated on this device as "channel 1", in which indicates the first channel it picked up, not the old-school "channel" numbers from the "good-old days" of TV.
      So-called "channel 2", "channel 3", etc. were matched up to certain MHz frequencies in certain countries and those frequencies varied from North American (NTSC) or European/UK/Austrailan (PAL) or French territories (SECAM) markets, so that might be an issue you're having.

    • @SquirrelsWrath
      @SquirrelsWrath 2 роки тому

      @@RayJacksonbighmw thanks for replying Ray.
      When I scan, it just stays on "1".
      It never changes to the next channel like yours does and I don't know if there's a way to do that?
      I think I'm at a dead end unfortunately as I have a similar problem when trying this with my megadrive 1.
      It picks up the signal but very poorly, connecting to the aerial however, proves much better ironically.
      I have an idea though, I read that an old vcr can act as its own demodulator.
      If I plugged my rf cable into the vcr and then used a scart to hdmi cable back into the TV, do you think this would work?
      Thanks again.

    I bought this item last month, I couldn't get the remote to show the Chinese menu, what button in the remote do I press to get into it?

    • @RayJacksonbighmw
      @RayJacksonbighmw  2 роки тому

      That would be the center button of the 4 directional button cluster and then after that you go to the fourth menu click the center button again and go to "OSD" (on-screen display) in which is you first option (just hit the down button once to highlight it), and then to access it hit the right directional button, then you can use that to switch from Chinese to English or vice versa after that.

    Here's the million dollar question: does it have low enough TV ping/delay/latency where you can play Kaboom and get a typical score you'd get on a CRT?
    I understand light gun games won't work because even a VCR pulls your aim to the right in a normal sitch on a CRT TV.
    But if Kaboom plays right, then it has liw enough gameplay to not effect the game, and you'll be as fast as your monitor can go?
    Reason why I ask is because an MTVBox (an RF to VGA converter) is one frame behind a vcr conversion to composite then a Retrotink Composite to HDMI and an HDMI to VGA converter and a CRT VGA is "frame equal" with a direct CRT connection.
