Cool to see some rural action, actually yesterday I was hoping you would film in a more rural area once and one day later I see this uploaded :D Very different from the usual estate collection, lot‘s of driving between houses. Surprise you guys are allowed to double side mainroads, not that I have anything against it but knowing UK councils are obsessed with work-safety, I would‘ve expected it to be forbidden. This kind of job in rural areas would be so much easier if footplates on the back of the truck were allowed and not banned due to „safety regulations“. @@wheelerd02 Yep same thing here, a bit frowned upon by management but in some instances it‘s just far more convient and I’ve seen them do it a lot when needed, especially in more rural areas. Of course it doesn’t save much time double siding a huge mainroad with house to house but on rural rounds like this one it’s just very convenient since it takes time to collect both sides seperately and if both sides only have a douzen or so houses, you might as well double side and save a few minutes. Most important is the safety when double siding and this video shows you guys are very precautious which is good, can‘t rely on the car drivers itchingly waiting to drive past with max speed!

No worries and could you actually do a UA-cam video of you actually driving the bin lorry too empty your load and also for my friend if it's not too much too ask
Talk to the loaders who work on your street. Most councils (if not all) use agencies to supply their workers. High turnover & high endurance requirements soon sort the wheat from the chaff. Weekly pay will be likely, show you are reliable and you won't be short of work. Do well and you could get a job with the Council with it's various benefits. Private companies (from what I've read) can be ruthless and uncompromising in their work environment. It doesn't pay great, you won't be respected by residents or road users and weather has an enormous bearing on daily experience. But! Early finishes, unlikely weekend work, nominal responsibility and free exercise are a boon. Keep me up to date on what happens.
How long does a run take each day and how many times do you empty the truck on a run? If you start early are you able to go home early when the run is finished?
Routes are job and finish, put the effort in and you get go home Recycling starts at 0700, general waste 0630 Crews start to return 1400-1500, anything much afterwards means it was a busy/long day Recycling squeezes onto 1 lorry load, general waste needs emptying twice
Great video again never know you used to be scared of dogs that's amazing that you have overcome it I admire bin drivers and your companions around you it's probably one of the most dangerous jobs due to idiots who cant drive a car and are just not using the common sense to look and use there mirrors look forward to the next video safe vlogging Sir 👍📹🚚
How do you mean? As in a residential collection service in the evenings? Employees stacking bins at the roadside to speed collection the next day? Individual bins being dipped for their sacks to reduce overall bins on the back of the vehicle?
@@wheelerd02 I mean in overall waste as I see bin men with their lorries go out at night to collect waste maybe around 10 11 o'clock at night maybe a private waste company

Weight scales would normally cut out approx 25000kg GVW. However some vehicles would cut out earlier meaning you would get less on and the day would take longer. Some vehicles scales flat out didn't work at all risking an overload situation. Walking the length of vehicle banging a fist against the body would help determine the load position within the body. Much like tapping a watermelon or a bread roll. However; the very simple way was when the compactor blade would stop scrapeing to the top. That and when stop wouldn't compact anymore. No negotiation, no amount of blade movement from thr cab controller you were done, time to empty.

I do not no, they are the preserve of Street Care, that holiest of council jobs
Hi mate, I work with a lateral load at Málaga, grettings from Spain. I work alone because we don't need another worker....🤔🤔
Hello friend, what kind of work is it you do? Household collection or trade waste bulk bins?
@@wheelerd02 We collected householld containers at Málaga streets. At the moment I collect yellow containers (plastic, tetra brik, cans...etc) There are grey containers for the organic trash and blue containers for the papers and cardboard. Málaga has 500.000 people and we work in the night, the morning and afternoon/evening.
@@miguelandresleon9989 and you did this as 1 man and a truck?
@@wheelerd02 It's automatic, we only drive and we put the truck in the correct side with the lateral cameras, we only go down in case of any problem. The rear load trucks are normaly equiped with a driver and two operators. Sorry but I have a little english level....
ua-cam.com/video/5dv_mfWxFlc/v-deo.html&pp=ygUUY2FyZ2EgbGF0ZXJhbCBtYWxhZ2E%3D It's a similar system to the Málaga Trucks.
Why did you give up on the buses ?? I have my class 2 but won't be getting my class 1 .

Hi p4h91 I like watching your videos on UA-cam i think your brilliant
Thank you very much
No worries and could you actually do a UA-cam video of you actually driving the bin lorry too empty your load and also for my friend if it's not too much too ask
Im just wondering I know you have given advice to drivers wanting to apply for bin work what would you advise people who want to be loaders
Keep me up to date on what happens.
love your videos mate do you ever go out on trade waste or domestic bulk im a drivers mate for Biffa based at southampton depot
I sometimes do trade as overtime or if there is sickness
I also did flats for 6 months when I first came here
How long does a run take each day and how many times do you empty the truck on a run?
If you start early are you able to go home early when the run is finished?
Routes are job and finish, put the effort in and you get go home
Recycling starts at 0700, general waste 0630
Crews start to return 1400-1500, anything much afterwards means it was a busy/long day
Recycling squeezes onto 1 lorry load, general waste needs emptying twice
@@wheelerd02 interesting thank you.
Thank you, have a good safe day out there
One thing I see often bin men go out at night collecting rubbish have you done it or came across someone who has
How do you mean?
As in a residential collection service in the evenings?
Employees stacking bins at the roadside to speed collection the next day?
Individual bins being dipped for their sacks to reduce overall bins on the back of the vehicle?
@@wheelerd02 I mean in overall waste as I see bin men with their lorries go out at night to collect waste maybe around 10 11 o'clock at night maybe a private waste company
I'm just wondering have you done night shifts on the bins
@@bradley-ts4kl ah ok I get you
No I have not night time collection. Only residential waste

How do you know when the lorry’s full?
Weight scales would normally cut out approx 25000kg GVW. However some vehicles would cut out earlier meaning you would get less on and the day would take longer.
Some vehicles scales flat out didn't work at all risking an overload situation. Walking the length of vehicle banging a fist against the body would help determine the load position within the body. Much like tapping a watermelon or a bread roll.
However; the very simple way was when the compactor blade would stop scrapeing to the top. That and when stop wouldn't compact anymore. No negotiation, no amount of blade movement from thr cab controller you were done, time to empty.
How come you left the refuse?
The hours were decent enough as well my colleagues but the pay and opportunities were slim and not forthcoming.
What’s wrong with the camera in the cab ?
It's the refresh rate of the camera, doesn't flicker in person
nice vids thankyou for you time to get hower rubbis sorry about the spelling
Thank you for watching
Absolutely smashing video! Love the videos that you make! What happened to the 2021 Elite 6 (Omnidel) that you had? Loved that wagon
